Pink Tutu Vienna: #1317

Wednesday, 29th July 2020

Hello, darling darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, Emma, here, live from Vienna!

Vienna, oh Vienna! What a city! This is the ultimate city for a tutu-loving ballet fanatic. Seriously, if you haven't experienced the magic of the Vienna State Opera House, get on a train right this second (especially if you have a hankering for beautiful horses pulling the train, cough like yours truly cough!)

But before we delve into all things pink, fluffy and ballerina, I have to share my exciting news! This weekend I was lucky enough to perform at the gorgeous Schloss Schönbrunn! Imagine a stunning baroque palace with manicured gardens, fountains spraying rainbows of water into the sunshine, and a charming audience enjoying my graceful leaps and twirls. Dreams do come true! It was truly an honour and an absolute joy to share my love of ballet with everyone. Plus, you just have to see Vienna when the sun is out - everything gleams and glows in the soft light, making even a tutu-clad lass like me look her very best!

And, speaking of glorious weather, Vienna was practically begging for a tutu-picnic! That's right, darling darlings! My latest fashion experiment - tutu-picnic chic! Picture this: A perfect, sunny afternoon, a checkered picnic blanket laid out under a shady tree, delicious pastries from a local patisserie, and of course, my trusty pink tutu. My lovely Vienna apartment is conveniently close to a small, quaint park just a stone’s throw from the heart of the city, with the Danube winding majestically in the background. Who knew a tutu could be so perfect for lounging in the sunshine?

And let's not forget the clothes shopping! This trip I indulged in a splurge at Die Kleine Nähstube – such gorgeous fabrics and an amazing selection of vintage fabrics. Oh, I couldn't resist. I ended up purchasing enough to create a bespoke pink tutu worthy of the Vienna State Opera House itself!

Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without experiencing the magic of a ballet performance. I got myself tickets for a Romeo & Juliet at the Vienna State Opera House itself. Let’s just say my little heart could burst with delight. The stage sets were exquisite – shimmering chandeliers, velvet drapes, opulent balconies... it was as if I had been transported straight onto the page of a storybook!

While you are here in Vienna, take the opportunity to learn about the rich history of ballet here, you won't regret it. I discovered a delightful hidden gem - the Theatermuseum. Imagine this, darling darlings, a stunning building packed full of stage designs, costumes, and artifacts, including some fabulous tutu exhibits! Even I was starstruck. Just hearing tales of the world-famous Vienna Ballet, the famous dancers, the legendary productions, it is truly captivating! You wouldn't believe the beautiful pink tutus of the late 19th Century, all ruffles and tulle! Divine.

I've even had the chance to try out a ballet class here at the Vienna State Ballet. It's an actual class they offer for ballet enthusiasts – and for someone like me who lives for ballet, this was like a dream come true! These graceful, athletic dancers are inspiring to watch and to be near - and all the dancers were so encouraging to a complete novice like me (with a tutu on, naturally!). They are simply amazing.

Next Week!

I'm absolutely thrilled to be sharing with you next week my exclusive interview with none other than a prima ballerina of the Vienna State Opera House! We'll be chatting about her favourite roles, her life in Vienna, and her personal tips on looking chic in a tutu!

Tip of the Week

Don't forget to stop by Café Central. Vienna has an amazing café culture, but Café Central is an absolute must. Imagine plush velvet furniture, swirling marble floors, decadent cakes and delicious pastries... it's just magical! And it is definitely the perfect spot for a coffee and cake break during your tutu shopping escapades!

Oh darling darlings, there’s so much more to share, from the glorious views to the fabulous fashion finds. But for now, I must be off to enjoy more Viennese delights, like a horse-drawn carriage ride ( I just can’t get enough of these wonderful steeds!). Keep those tutus spinning, darlings, and join me next week for a fascinating glimpse into the life of a prima ballerina in Vienna!

Until next week,

Emma xxx
