Pink Tutu Vienna - Post #1356: Waltz me away!

Oh, darling, Vienna! The very name evokes a swirl of music, pastries, and a gentle, swirling waltz! And, of course, pink tutus. That's right, I'm in Vienna, Austria, for the first time and I am simply enthralled. My little pink tutu has taken me across Europe many times by train - but Austria was a special request from one of my wonderful readers!

This Wednesday, you see, is not only the day for my Pink Tutu Vienna blog post, but also the date of the exquisite "Viennese Waltz" performance at the Staatsoper! My heart skipped a beat when I realised I could see it - and guess what, my darling, it did not disappoint.

Vienna is, as we all know, the undisputed birthplace of the waltz. Even before I arrived, I spent hours pouring over books and pictures of the beautiful, dramatic, and intricately-constructed costumes that ballerinas of the time wore! My favourite, oh darling, was the incredible tutu with the frills, so, of course, my Pink Tutu Vienna outfit today is a delightful pastel pink confection with more frills than a Parisian cafe on a Tuesday morning. It complements the delicate pastel pink blossoms of the cherry trees around the opera house perfectly - you should have seen the stunning photographs my dearest companion, Bella, managed to capture!

The performance was breathtaking, of course. It's no surprise why Viennese waltzes have become synonymous with romance - the intricate, intertwining steps and elegant fluidity of the dancing just begged for a love story to be told! I was absolutely captivated, and as soon as the final notes faded away, I had to sprint to the wardrobe and see the dancersā€™ costumes in person! My goodness, darling, they are stunning - hand-sewn masterpieces of silk and satin. And the colour, the detail ā€“ it makes me want to run out and buy yards of tulle and start crafting myself. This is true inspiration, oh darling, and I already know that a special, delicate tulle pink tutu has a special place in my future, especially after a trip to the Viennese fabrics market, where I lost several hours in blissful awe. I must say, this cityā€™s commitment to artistic elegance really makes the ā€œpink tutuā€ vibe here, darling. Itā€™s in the architecture, the coffee, the music, the waltzes, the people - it just whispers ā€œfeminine and joyfulā€ to me.

But Vienna, darling, is not all swirling dresses and enchanting melodies. Let's just say it's a must-have experience for any discerning tutu aficionado. The Kunsthistorisches Museum, with its collection of historical costume design, including a plethora of dazzling tutus through history, almost rendered me speechless. The collection, darling, has some of the earliest tutus I've seen, dating back to the mid-18th century! I must confess I did, however, whisper a gentle ā€œpink is bestā€ to the exhibit as I went by.

Speaking of history, I just had to explore Schƶnbrunn Palace - that imperial residence is breathtaking. And, I also discovered one of Viennaā€™s hidden treasures, nestled right within the city - the Schƶnbrunn Palace Stables, where a stunning set of Lippizzaner horses live! Of course, I had to take a ride through the imperial gardens on one of the magnificent beasts, wearing, naturally, a pretty pale pink hat and matching scarf, with, of course, my little pink tutu peeking out from underneath the voluminous folds of my dress. A girl needs to be a bit practical while she is riding, my darling, especially when such a majestic animal is beneath you. My photos, however, are pure romance, like they were straight out of a book of fairy tales. And they just have to have their very own pink tutu in them! Iā€™m a believer in a touch of magical pink!

Speaking of practicality, did I mention how many pink dresses, tulle skirts, and, of course, tutus, I discovered during my shopping spree here, darling? Every shop is overflowing with lovely pink accessories, beautiful fabrics, and just the most beautiful shoes, which will of course, go beautifully with a little pink tutu. But I promise, darling, I did not succumb to temptation ā€“ at least, not as much as I might have! Letā€™s just say itā€™s a good thing I only had so much luggage space to spare in the carriage. I already knew this place was magical - but it exceeded all my expectations. You truly can't come to Vienna without adding a touch of pink to your life. Oh, the lovely fabrics! They call to me!

Iā€™ll have to go shopping next week again darling, to find a more spacious bag!

You must promise, though, to visit Vienna yourself one day. A little slice of magic that you can experience for yourself! And, don't forget the pink!

Until next week, darling, I shall keep adding my own touch of magic to the world with a twirl!

Lots of Love,

Emma x
