Vienna, darling! A whirlwind of waltzes and Wiener Schnitzel!
#1357: Pink Tutu Vienna! (Wednesday, 5th May 2021)
Hello darlings! I'm back from a truly enchanting weekend in Vienna and let me tell you, I haven't stopped thinking about it ever since. This city is positively buzzing with culture, music and, yes, I even spotted a pink tutu or two (naturally). It’s absolutely clear, the pink tutu is universal, darling! It doesn’t just stop at Derbyshire, England! You wouldn't believe how I even found time to cram it all in between the shows, the shopping, and the delicious Viennese treats. I mean, the city's famous for its sachertorte and I had to do justice to it, didn’t I?
My week kicked off in the most fabulous way possible. On Friday, I headed down to London to take the Eurostar to Vienna. Oh, it was all so glamorous, don't you think? The sleek carriages, the lovely people, the air of sophisticated travel. Let me tell you, darling, it really did get me into the spirit of the journey! It truly was a proper travel fantasy, complete with the elegant French countryside scenery.
As you know, I do love a train journey. It just allows me to relax, admire the views, and enjoy some of the fun little touches that make up the atmosphere. Not forgetting to note all of my favourite parts for this week's Pink Tutu outfit, because the train journey always has its special outfit to add in! So naturally, a pretty new pink cardigan had to come with me for this journey, just so you know. There's no excuse for going anywhere without your favourite pink accessories darling!
Vienna just swept me off my feet. There was so much to see and experience! On arrival, I quickly realised I needed to pack in everything I wanted to do, because the days would disappear before my eyes. The only way to properly take in a new place like Vienna is to just let yourself be absorbed. My plan? Do as many shows and as much sight-seeing as possible, while of course also being completely prepared to just stand and marvel!
Saturday was pure enchantment! I started with a breathtaking performance by the Vienna State Opera. Honestly, the performance was simply divine! The artistry of the dancers, the grandeur of the theatre, and the sheer magic of the whole thing just transported me. You'd have thought I'd walked right out of the pages of a storybook. Oh, the beauty! There were swirling tulle skirts, elegant poses, and an air of complete grace and sophistication.
Later, as a change of pace, I wandered into the gorgeous park of Schönbrunn Palace. It's simply impossible not to feel enchanted by Vienna’s royal history. It was the day to take my favourite, beautiful and newly purchased (just yesterday, I love discovering places just as much as I love discovering a gorgeous, new vintage item to add to my wardrobe!) pink dress out on its maiden journey in public, as we say in Derbyshire.
There's something quite whimsical about this palace. There is an undeniable romance about exploring its elegant gardens. This city has it all: music, culture, fashion, history and it seems to seep out of every cobbled street corner. I was like a child at Christmas time! I must admit that I found myself just staring in awe at everything.
This beautiful park was perfect for me, and also my beautiful pink dress! Not only are Vienna’s parks and gardens exquisite in themselves, but you also come across lovely cafes dotted around the most beautiful corners. So of course, that's where I was heading. Now I’m not going to name and shame anyone in case you read my blog, and also to encourage you all to do some independent research to get to the heart of Vienna! So go find your own amazing park or cafe that truly excites you. I, on the other hand, decided to get right in the swing of Viennese things and went straight for a coffee and some Viennese cake.
Honestly, you all need to try a Wiener Schnitzel at least once! Oh, darling, I thought I was going to explode. It was all so beautiful! I really was feeling every bit the modern day Princess travelling around in my pink tutu. It wasn't the type of princess who would shy away from the excitement, I was all for it!
So darling, don't get the idea that everything has to be all fancy! On Sunday, after a lovely late start and a much-needed, long rest. You know me. My tutu takes me a lot of energy! I'm still thinking of whether it deserves more credit on my Pink Tutu blog, but so far I have resisted the urge, even though the pressure is growing, with every performance.
Anyway, this means I have lots more time in Vienna! On this Sunday morning, it was a proper relaxing wander, just taking it all in! The atmosphere was so tranquil. Oh my god, the city truly has everything for you! And for you all, so remember to check the latest on www.pink-tutu.com! You will need to add this one to your wish list for next year! But for now, Vienna has given me some lovely ideas and inspiration for upcoming tutus, which are getting so much attention these days!
I am all about this pink tutu and taking on the world. Even more now with the confidence to make a tutu, a little like a tiny little friend you take everywhere you go! That is how I view the tutu now! It has given me a kind of confidence that means I can now wander the world in pink! I love my tutu. And, I want to get you to love your own version of your little friend as well!
So what does your own little friend look like, my darling? Do share, especially in your comment below. Maybe a new friend awaits for you out there? And then of course, do come back on Wednesday!
Remember, darling: pink is more than a colour! It's a state of mind.
Ciao bella!
**Love,
Emma**
