Hello darlings! It's Emma, your Pink Tutu Princess, and this week, I've waltzed my way to the heart of Austria, the enchanting city of Vienna! Oh my, I am in utter bliss!
As you know, Vienna holds a special place in my heart. It's a city brimming with culture, history, and ā get this ā the very roots of ballet! Think about it, those sweeping, flowing movements we see on stage, the romantic music, the captivating storytellingā¦ It all started right here in Vienna!
Of course, the grand waltz is king here. I even found a fabulous vintage tutu shop near the Stephansdom (the city's iconic cathedral, BTW ā absolutely stunning!), with tutus inspired by those gorgeous waltz dresses from the 1800s. It was a true delight to step into that shop!
And talking of delights, let me tell you about the coffee and cake! My darlings, the Viennese coffee houses are beyond divine. A giant slice of Sachertorte, a creamy Melange, and a comfy chair with a view of the Opera House ā oh, I could get used to this life!
Speaking of the Opera House, I snagged tickets for a performance of Mozartās āThe Marriage of Figaro.ā It was absolutely phenomenal. I even spotted a few fashionable folks with their own pink tutus peeking out beneath their elegant dresses. Isn't that the dream, finding pink tutu fashionistas in unexpected places?
Speaking of fashion, I spent a blissful day exploring Vienna's elegant boutiques. I discovered some gorgeous pastel-coloured pieces that screamed āVienna!ā and wouldnāt you know it, even some lovely pink tutu accessories. Now, I know what you're thinking: Pink tutus and Austria ā doesnāt it feel like a perfect match?
One of the highlights of my Vienna adventure has been exploring the city by carriage. I found this beautiful white horse-drawn carriage right in the heart of the old town. Oh, how romantic! Imagine me, my pink tutu swishing, as the carriage glides through cobbled streets and under grand archways, the horses hooves echoing in the soft morning air. A picture perfect moment!
And the journey here? Well, I arrived in style, of course! A train journey from Derbyshire, England. Such a magical way to travel. A ballet show to fund my ticket, the click-clack-click of the wheels against the rails, a warm cup of tea and my book, and a dash of pink tutu flairā¦ perfect!
Today, it's a little sightseeing tour around Vienna, ending at the Schƶnbrunn Palace for an afternoon tea and a little history lesson. Maybe I'll even get to see some horses at the Schƶnbrunn Zoo ā and wouldn't you know it, there's a gorgeous, sprawling flower garden, bursting with vibrant colour ā so naturally, it will have my name written all over it!
Later this week, I'll be checking out some traditional Viennese street performances, and perhaps even catch a ballet show or two. Vienna is truly the perfect city for a pink tutu-wearing princess like myself.
