Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, Emma, writing to you live from the magical city of Vienna! This Wednesday's post takes you on a journey of tulle, travel, and an utter adoration for all things pink and twirly!
It's a bit of a cliche to say that Vienna is a city that just feels romantic, but oh my goodness, it truly does! From the moment you step off the train and the scent of warm pastries wafts towards you, you can feel the history and culture swirling around you, like the most elegant waltz.
I travelled here by train, of course - a proper old-fashioned sleeper carriage, which felt so vintage and glamorous. Imagine, comfy seats, delicious hot chocolate, and views that would make even the most hardened ballerina swoon! I love how train journeys can be just as exciting as the destination itself. I can't resist a touch of pink for the trip - my little vintage suitcase is a bright candy floss pink, perfectly in sync with the adorable ruffled tulle skirt I wore! (Did I tell you it matches my new pink satin ballet slippers? 🥰).
This time in Vienna is a whirlwind of tutus and theatre, of course! After a cheeky visit to the famous Wiener Staatsoper, which was frankly majestic - just the most fabulous costumes and breathtaking dance performances, naturally! - I found myself captivated by a small but utterly enchanting ballet studio tucked away in a quiet corner of the city.
It was an old-world delight, with peeling paint and sunbeams dancing on the floorboards. As soon as I stepped inside, I felt a warm hug of tradition and a strong connection to ballet history. Can you believe it, darlings, the studio actually held some original tutus dating back to the early 19th century! It felt like a museum of magic and a wonderland of dreams come true!
Naturally, I couldn't resist a lesson in this magical space. I haven't donned my pointe shoes in a while, but those lovely, experienced dancers, (let’s not mention their perfectly toned calves!) gave me such a brilliant ballet workout that my muscles are definitely singing today. They were absolutely fabulous and incredibly welcoming - in fact, they were keen for me to come back every Wednesday - just to, as they charmingly put it, "spread some of that pink magic!".

Vienna truly is a haven for ballet lovers. In the evenings, after an elegant dinner at a charming local cafe, I strolled through the beautifully lit streets, past old-world cafes, and into the heart of the theatre district. I couldn't resist joining the locals at an open-air stage performance by a charming little company. They were performing excerpts from the famous ballet Swan Lake and, well, let’s just say it took my breath away.
You wouldn't believe how amazing it is to watch the performers dancing under the star-filled sky, right here in the middle of the city. Every little detail felt perfect; the music, the movement, the soft glow of the moon shining down on their beautiful tutus. (Oh, to have one that looks just like that in my own collection!).
After that, I strolled down the street, feeling the night air brush against my tulle, and bumped into the most adorable little shop! It's hidden away on a tiny, cobbled street, crammed full of exquisite pink ribbons, lace, and tulle galore - my kind of place!
I'm absolutely obsessed with vintage tutus at the moment - and this place is like a vintage ballerina's dream. They even have these fantastic old silk ribbons from Paris in all sorts of gorgeous shades of pink! And of course, I snagged some exquisite fabric to make myself a new, totally unique pink tutu - it’s going to be the most dramatic pink tulle extravaganza ever! You'll see pictures soon!
This trip to Vienna has reminded me of the beautiful joy and connection that ballet can bring, and why I'm absolutely devoted to wearing pink tutus. In the midst of this magical city, I realised there's truly nothing quite like waltzing around a theatre or studio in your favourite pink tulle. It just brings so much delight and sparkle to your everyday life!

A Few Thoughts On My Favourite Things:Shopping!
If there’s one thing that truly makes me happy, it’s wandering through markets and boutiques. There's just something about that sensory overload, those colours and textures that truly get my creative juices flowing.
And, for those who haven’t been, Vienna is a shopping haven for pink-loving ballerinas! Every corner has an intriguing little boutique - from the quaint and classic shops filled with intricate embroidery to modern stores with the most daringly modern pieces.
There’s nothing quite like getting lost in a shopping frenzy, discovering hidden treasures, and picking out unique pieces to add to your personal wardrobe. Oh, the joy!
Fashion!
Fashion is my obsession! Every outfit tells a story, whispers about who we are, and allows us to express our creativity! Of course, for me, there’s only one rule to this fabulous world: a sprinkle of pink is always necessary!
In my little world, I always wear at least one touch of pink - perhaps it’s a silk scarf, a delicate ribbon on a beret, or my signature pink tutu, the foundation of every outfit!
I think a dash of pink helps us shine a little brighter. It lifts spirits, ignites confidence, and reminds us to have fun. After all, there's no harm in adding a little flair, a little 'je ne sais quoi' to our daily lives!
Theatrical Ballet Performances
Let’s face it, there's nothing more spellbinding than seeing a spectacular ballet performance on stage, and Vienna truly knows how to make theatre magic come to life. The theatres here are just magnificent – every step, every arabesque, every grand jeté, takes your breath away.
For me, it's not just about the flawless execution; it's about the stories that are told, the emotions that are portrayed, the artistry of movement and grace. I adore the dramatic tutus, the vibrant costumes, and the beautiful sets – every element creates this mesmerizing world where you’re completely transported.
And those elegant waltzes... Vienna simply oozes ballet! I could watch the dancers swirl across the stage, their costumes glittering under the spotlight, forever! I’ve even spotted several vintage tutus in shops that could have easily been part of one of these incredible performances! Oh, to have them all!
Vienna’s Waltz
When people say, "You can't go to Vienna and not dance the waltz," they really mean it! This city is literally pulsating with this graceful, twirling dance, and it's practically infectious.
As soon as I landed in Vienna, I felt a slight twitch in my pink tutu - a need to twirl! Even walking down the street feels like a waltz, as if you're dancing with the city's historical charm and elegance. I have this overwhelming urge to embrace it, to be whisked away on a journey through time!
Pink Tutus
Ok, I may have already mentioned this, but I am an utterly, completely obsessed with pink tutus. It's not just about the frills or the fairytale vibe; they're about empowerment, they're about femininity, and, honestly, they just make me feel incredible!
I've said it before, and I’ll say it again: wearing a pink tutu makes every day a celebration, an opportunity to feel a little extra fabulous!
I have a pink tutu for every occasion – my casual tutus, for shopping expeditions and tea with the girls; my show-stopping, glittering, floor-length tutus for grand events; my classic, timeless pink tutu for everyday twirls; and of course, my elegant, beautiful ballet tutus for my own performances.
In my eyes, wearing a pink tutu isn’t about age, or body shape, or even skill level – it’s about the sheer, delightful joy it brings, the spark of joy it ignites in your heart, and the confidence it empowers in your step. It's about having fun, embracing whimsy, and twirling through life with a playful spirit!
That's why, darling, I truly believe every single woman should have a pink tutu. (I might even have a few spare pink tutu tutorials coming soon, just you wait! 😉).
Pink Tutu Goals:Let’s be real, my goal in life is to convince every single person on this earth to don a pink tutu for just one day. Maybe even for an entire hour!
