Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #1401 - A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel!
Wednesday, 9th March, 2022
Good morning, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another exciting post from your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller - me, Emma, from Derbyshire, and today I'm waltzing into the heart of Vienna, Austria!
The train journey here was truly delightful. I felt like I was stepping straight out of a romantic novel, with the snow-capped mountains flanking the tracks and the picturesque villages whizzing by. And of course, no trip is complete without a stylish ensemble, so I donned my favourite fluffy pink tutu (you know, the one with the silver sequin embellishments) and paired it with a cozy cashmere sweater. The conductor even complimented my choice of attire - apparently, pink tutus are universally appreciated, even amongst the most seasoned train travellers!
My first order of business in Vienna was to find the perfect ballet school. After all, how could I possibly spend time in the city of waltz and opera without honing my skills in the graceful art of ballet? After a little searching, I discovered the charming "Vienna Dance Centre," where I'm happily enrolled in their beginner's class. Oh, the joy of stretching those muscles and learning the classic "arabesque" - it's pure magic!
But ballet is just one facet of Vienna's vibrant artistic scene. This city is brimming with museums, galleries, and historic theatres. Last night, I was mesmerised by the enchanting "Mozartkugeln" performance at the Vienna State Opera. The choreography was so elegant and the costumes… well, let's just say, I'm planning on buying a whole new wardrobe inspired by those exquisite, glittering designs!
And of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without indulging in its culinary delights. The "Wiener Schnitzel" is divine! It's essentially a large, thin, breaded cutlet, usually veal or pork, that’s pan-fried to perfection and served with a creamy, dreamy sauce. I tried it at the traditional “Figlmüller” restaurant and oh my, I'm already planning my return trip!
But my favourite discovery of all? A charming little shop on a cobblestone side street that specialises in custom tutus! The owner is a talented seamstress with an impeccable eye for colour and detail. We're currently collaborating on a bespoke creation for my next performance. Imagine a fluffy pink tutu with delicate, hand-embroidered cherry blossoms! It’s going to be exquisite, and I can't wait to unveil it on stage!
Oh, and did I mention the horse-drawn carriage rides? My darling! Picture a sun-drenched afternoon, gliding through the historic streets, the soft clip-clop of hooves echoing in the cobbled lanes, and the sweet scent of roses wafting in the air. This was definitely a highlight for me. I felt like I'd stepped into a painting!
So, there you have it. My first few days in Vienna have been a delightful whirlwind of waltz, schnitzel, and stylish tutu adventures!
Now, dear readers, if you're ever planning a trip to Vienna, I highly recommend you embrace the vibrant spirit of this extraordinary city, maybe even donning a pink tutu to add a dash of colour and fun to your own adventures. And remember, a tutu is more than just an outfit - it's a statement!
