Hello my darlings, and welcome to Pink Tutu Vienna, your weekly dose of pink-tastic travel adventures, fashion finds, and of course, a whole lot of ballet! This Wednesday, I'm whisking you away to the heart of Vienna, a city that truly feels like stepping into a waltzing fairytale. And believe me, my tutus have been twirling non-stop! 💖
As always, I arrived in style - a plush sleeper carriage on the Eurostar whisked me from London, and the views were nothing short of breathtaking. (The mountains, the skies, the glorious sunshine - pure bliss!) I even managed to sneak in a quick ballet session in the carriage. There's nothing quite like a little plié practice whilst watching the world rush past, is there? 😉
Upon arrival in Vienna, the city instantly charmed me with its elegant architecture and bustling energy. Every corner felt like a vignette straight out of a classic opera. My first stop? You guessed it - Vienna State Opera House! My heart did a literal pirouette as I took in the grandeur of the building. This place exudes history and culture, and its grand stage has seen the world's most esteemed ballet companies dance their magic. I simply had to indulge in a tour and imagine the history of legendary dancers gracefully twirling in these hallowed halls.
Next, it was off to the Schönbrunn Palace for a regal stroll through the gardens, a ballet class in the park (you can never have too much ballet, darling!), and of course, a delightful afternoon tea under a willow tree. The palace is so picturesque, with its golden façade, manicured lawns, and stunning flower beds - a real testament to the grandeur of the Habsburg Empire. But it's the gardens, with their charming paths and hidden corners, that truly steal my heart. Imagine the sheer delight of ballet rehearsals and picnics amidst such beauty!
Speaking of picnics, it wouldn't be a Vienna trip without enjoying some delicious Austrian treats! A Sachertorte was absolutely divine, a heavenly combination of chocolate and apricot jam. And let's not forget the Wiener Schnitzel, a crunchy delight, that paired perfectly with a refreshing Spritzer. (This, I might add, was enjoyed whilst indulging in a window display of tutus at Die Ballet Boutique, a must-visit for all ballerina-lovers!).
And as you know, I couldn't resist a spot of fashion browsing. Vienna is an absolute haven for vintage finds and designer delights. From chic boutiques on Mariahilfer Straße to the charming little shops around Stephansplatz, my pockets ached (in a good way!), and my pink-hued wardrobe is now bursting with delights.
For a change of pace from the urban bustle, I embarked on a delightful horse-drawn carriage ride through the city. Imagine me, swirling in my Pink Tutu, taking in the grandeur of St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Vienna City Hall from the luxurious comfort of a carriage! Truly a dream come true. The air was filled with the clip-clop of hooves, the scent of freshly cut grass, and the melodious music of Vienna - pure magic!
This week's highlight? Well, that has to be the performance by the Vienna State Ballet at the Opera House. Seeing these incredibly talented dancers perform with such precision, grace, and emotion left me speechless! They took me on a journey through time, each pirouette and grand jeté transporting me to a world of romance, elegance, and passion. I can still hear the final applause, and it resonated long after the curtains had closed.
To say this trip has been delightful is an understatement! Vienna has captured my heart, with its stunning architecture, delicious food, and vibrant ballet scene. If you're looking for a magical, cultural, and oh-so-pink adventure, add this enchanting city to your travel bucket list.
