Vienna Waltz: A Tutu Tale, Post #1417

Wednesday 29th June, 2022

My darling readers,

Vienna! It’s not every day you get to waltz through a city bathed in history, glamour and, most importantly, endless pink hues. And when I say "waltz", I don’t just mean figuratively, although I have been known to burst into impromptu pirouettes in the grandest of settings! I’ve arrived in Vienna, a city practically built for ballet, ready to embrace the romance and artistry it so gracefully embodies.

You might ask, “Why Vienna?” Well, this magnificent metropolis holds a very special place in my heart, and in ballet history! It’s the home of the Vienna State Opera, the glorious Schönbrunn Palace, the captivating waltz, and countless artistic treasures waiting to be discovered. Vienna's streets whisper secrets of waltzing princesses, renowned dancers and glorious ballets, just begging for me to spin and twirl through them!

But I wouldn't be Emma the Pink Tutu Ballerina if I wasn't fuelled by the perfect outfit. Let's talk fashion! I landed in Vienna in my new blush-pink ensemble: a tulle-layered tulle dress, the sort you'd expect to see twirling at a grand Viennese ball. My pale pink leather boots were a daring, modern touch - a bit like a princess in a vintage convertible! I accessorised with a hand-painted pink clutch bag (an essential for any tutu-wearing gal on the go!) and a delicate diamond necklace that echoed the intricate lace details of my dress.

Oh, and of course, I'm wearing a custom-made pink tutu. I'm absolutely head over heels for the intricate detailing, the way it catches the sunlight and just seems to float, whispering secrets to the breeze! You can't possibly wander around Vienna without a little something to bring out the grandness within.

The journey here was enchanting in its own right! I journeyed from Derbyshire by train, a romantic way to travel that makes me feel like I’m stepping into a period film. I do love a little dramatic flair and nothing says "whimsical adventure" more than travelling by train, with the passing landscape changing like a magical storybook. And of course, a pink tutu works wonders in any railway carriage – it brings an instant sparkle to every journey, don't you think?

As soon as I arrived in Vienna, I knew I had to experience the Viennese waltz. What better way to celebrate my arrival than by joining the local waltz lessons offered at the gorgeous Hofburg Palace? This palace, once home to royalty and empires, now pulsates with the rhythms of tradition and culture. I was immediately transported into a world of elegant gowns, swirling skirts and perfectly synchronized steps.

And speaking of twirls, Vienna seems to have endless opportunities for ballet aficionados. Today, I took a ballet class in the heart of the city – an experience so immersive, it felt like a magical dance inside a painting! The dancers here are incredibly talented, moving with the elegance and precision of Vienna’s famous porcelain figurines. I can’t wait to attend a performance at the Vienna State Opera, a venue that resonates with history and breathtaking beauty. I hear there's a special "Giselle" performance coming up next month, and I wouldn't miss it for the world!

As always, fashion is front of mind when exploring this incredible city. My pink tutu ensemble was perfectly complimented by Vienna’s rich architecture. The pastel-pink buildings, charming coffeehouses and intricate gardens seem to be echoing the ballet's themes of grace and grandeur. And of course, there's no escaping the glorious history. I spent the morning wandering through the historic Imperial Palace, gazing at grand frescoes, elegant tapestries and portraits of historical figures. Each artwork was like a miniature dance performance, frozen in time.

This afternoon, I am off to visit the world-famous Vienna State Opera, and then, for some very important fashion research, I will be browsing the chic boutiques in the city center, seeking out new inspiration for my ballet-themed wardrobe. I have a feeling there will be plenty of blush-pink tulle waiting to be incorporated into my latest looks.

Stay tuned for more Viennese adventures, darling readers! I’ll be posting all about my experiences here next week, complete with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a rehearsal at the Opera House. But for now, be sure to share your favourite Viennese ballet experiences in the comments below! And remember, always wear a tutu, always dream big, and always, always dance!

With love and twirls,

Emma 💖💕🩰
