Vienna Calling! Pink Tutu Adventures in the City of Waltz 🩰💖🇦🇹

Hello, my gorgeous girly-girls!

It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing travel-enthusiast, back with another scintillating installment of my blog! This week I'm bringing you a taste of Vienna, the City of Music, a city so filled with waltzing wonder and enchanting history, it's literally the stuff dreams are made of!

This post is a little extra special for me. It marks a massive milestone: Post Number 1420! Fourteen hundred and twenty! Can you believe it? That's nearly a lifetime of tutus and travel! (Just ask my poor washing machine... 😜)

And where better to celebrate a landmark post than in a city so renowned for its glamour and grace? Vienna is synonymous with all things grand and refined, and believe me, I am positively swirling with inspiration!

But first, a little about today:

July 20th marks the 139th birthday of one of Vienna's most beloved and celebrated daughters: Grete Grossmann, the star of the Vienna State Opera who later inspired the Vienna State Ballet. Isn't that fascinating? The connection between music, dance, and performance... a beautiful dance of artforms, if you will! 😉

Speaking of dancing, it wouldn't be a trip to Vienna without a ballet show! Tonight, I'm off to see "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Vienna State Opera, and I am SO excited! You know me, I can't resist a good fairy tale! Plus, I hear the sets and costumes are just stunning, which is always a win in my book! Of course, I've been hitting the shops hard in preparation for my "The Sleeping Beauty" themed look... 🤫 (Just wait until you see my latest acquisition... pink, of course! 💖).

But before I unleash my inner ballerina at the Vienna State Opera, I want to share some highlights from my Vienna escapades. Let's just say, my diary is filled with glamorous moments and tutu-tastic fun.

From palaces to pastries, here's a sneak peek into my world:

Whimsical Walks and Palace Ponderings:

Vienna's architecture is breathtaking, simply breathtaking! Every corner holds a castle or a church, each boasting intricate detail and a touch of imperial elegance. I've spent hours exploring the Schönbrunn Palace gardens, wandering past the Hofburg Palace, and gazing in awe at the Vienna State Opera House. Each palace and palace garden holds its own historical charm. I even took a carriage ride in Schönbrunn, dressed, of course, in my most elegant pink tutu! It was just too divine for words!

Coffee, Cake and Couture:

Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without experiencing its famous Viennese Coffee Houses. They are a must-see for anyone visiting. You could almost feel the spirit of famous artists, composers, and writers mingling among the decadent décor. My personal favorite has to be Café Central. It's an architectural beauty with so much history and a menu that makes your taste buds do the jitterbug! *One word: Sacher-Torte. *💖

I've also been indulging in a little retail therapy. Vienna is a paradise for shoppers! The city is bursting with boutiques, independent stores, and department stores selling all the latest trends. I picked up some absolutely stunning tulle for a new tutu! (You know me, I'm always looking for the perfect piece.) And I scored the most incredible pair of pink gloves to go with my outfit for "The Sleeping Beauty". They’re a pale pastel pink that matches my newest pink tutu. They were a steal at Boutique 1000. They're simply darling!

Travelling in Style (and with a tutu!):

Now, we all know that travelling is a must for any budding ballerina (or any girl with a pink tutu in her life!), but I always try to find unique and adventurous ways to get there. And you guys know how much I adore taking trains! Travelling by rail just embodies that sense of grand adventure. This trip, I took the scenic train journey through the Alps. Honestly, I'm convinced the landscape must be from a fairy tale, all snow-capped peaks and glistening glaciers. It's just gorgeous!

Then there are horses! Oh my gosh, horses! I have a love affair with horses (they’re so elegant! so majestic! 😍). Have you tried riding them while wearing a pink tutu? I just love the feeling! I was lucky enough to visit the Lipizzaner Breeding Stud in Piber, which I heard was amazing. (Yes, my readers, I checked for my perfect tutu moment in advance.) Oh! it’s spectacular! I was delighted with the opportunity to watch the legendary Lipizzaner Stallions train. These are the iconic white horses you've likely seen in "The Spanish Riding School," and it was so impressive to see their strength, agility, and elegance in person.

Speaking of horses, they've played such an important part in the history of ballet! Have you ever heard about La Fontaine in the royal palace of Versailles where they had these divine horse ballets? It was truly fascinating. These horses would do * amazing things! They would leap! they would prance! They’d even dance with the ballerinas! Oh, the stories! The tales from the dance floor!

What's Next for this Pink Tutu Wanderer?:

Next week, I'm heading to the Czech Republic! And you guys know what that means... MORE Tutus! I have a plan to take in a ballot lesson at a charming dance school in Prague.

For now, I'm off to take centre stage at the Vienna State Opera! Let's hope I don't trip on my tutu (but I'll definitely be rocking my best ballet posture!)!

Until next Wednesday, darling girls, stay glamorous, and always embrace the pink tutu within! 💖🩰

Love, Emma
