#PinkTutuVienna: Waltz me away in Vienna (Post #1464)

Hello my darling dears, and welcome back to another instalment of #PinkTutuVienna!

This week, I’m twirling through the enchanting city of Vienna, Austria, a city overflowing with history, culture, and oh, the pastries! Let's just say the cakes alone are worth the trip! As you know, I'm always on the hunt for the most stunning ballet performances, and Vienna, my darlings, has an extraordinary scene that's truly worth the waltz.

This week, I'm focusing on Vienna's extraordinary dance scene - not just the breathtaking ballet but also its incredible dance history! We'll also dive into the fashion and street style here, where Vienna's chic residents manage to seamlessly blend traditional charm with a touch of avant-garde cool.

As for my journey to Vienna, I must tell you, travelling by train is absolutely the way to go. I boarded the Eurostar in London, took in the magnificent views of the French countryside, and let the gentle rocking of the carriages lull me into a daydream filled with visions of graceful ballerinas and swirling tutus.

A Little Bit About Ballet in Vienna

Vienna has an impressive ballet history! Think of it, a rich history with influences spanning from the time of Empress Maria Theresa to the 21st century. It’s no surprise that the city boasts not just one but three world-class ballet companies - the Vienna State Opera Ballet, the Vienna Volksoper Ballet, and the Vienna Ballet, formerly known as the English National Ballet.

Catching a Performance at the Vienna State Opera

This week, I caught a show at the iconic Vienna State Opera House. Imagine, glorious chandeliers twinkling above me, ornate frescoes depicting enchanting tales, and a stage where so many ballet legends have danced. The very air in the theater seems to vibrate with history and magic!

Tonight, the show was "Swan Lake," the most beautiful and tragic love story told in dance. It was as if the swan's feathers themselves floated through the air, the black swan's sorrow palpable in every step. I shed a few tears (of pure joy, of course!), the story felt so emotionally charged.

Dancing Through Vienna's Historic Streets

When I wasn't in the theatre, I was taking to the cobblestone streets, experiencing the enchanting atmosphere of Vienna.

Of course, I had to incorporate some ballet-inspired outfits, my pink tutu is always by my side! I paired it with a delicate white blouse, a black blazer, and chic Mary Jane heels. My outfit was a visual conversation - it felt both historical, evoking images of Viennese ballerinas from centuries past, and effortlessly modern, reminding people that a tutu is just as much a part of our world today!

The Charm of Coffee and Cake in Vienna

After exploring, I discovered the charming coffeehouses, or "kafehaus," as they call them here. You won't believe the array of decadent cakes and pastries. From Apfelstrudel, to Sacher torte to Franz Josef Schnitten – my goodness, I was in a sugar coma but it was completely worth it!

I couldn’t leave without trying out a Viennese waltz! The Viennese waltz, invented here in the 19th century, is the city's national dance, and every day in the parks, in cafes and even on the streets, you see people gracefully twirling. It's as if the spirit of dance lives within this magical city.

My Pink Tutu Style in Vienna

Fashion and ballet are forever intertwined! And Vienna has such an elegant fashion sense. I've noticed beautiful vintage touches mixed with modern designs – that juxtaposition that makes a truly elegant look.

You can definitely find amazing finds for any pink tutu lover – like exquisite lace blouses with the tiniest pearl buttons, elegant tailored trousers in a stunning crimson shade, or timeless little black dresses that will make you look every bit the stylish Parisian or Viennese dame! I always like to pick up a piece or two for my personal collection.

Pink Tutus - The Final Word

From the historical wonders of Vienna's Schönbrunn Palace to the magical atmosphere of the Vienna State Opera House, this city has charmed my heart and captivated my imagination! The waltzing steps of the past echo on the cobblestones of the present, while modern design embraces tradition with grace and flair.

And as I leave, I carry a piece of Vienna's enchantment within my soul, a gentle melody of grace and history, whispered through the fluttering ribbons of my pink tutu.
