Let's be honest, Vienna and pink tutus? They're a match made in heaven. Imagine me twirling across the cobblestone streets in my fluffy pink tulle skirt, the waltz music serenading my every pirouette, the imperial palaces shimmering like sugared castles - sheer perfection!
Getting There: A Railway Romp and A Dash of Equestrian Charm
This week's journey to Vienna began with a romantic train ride from Derbyshire. I just love those grand, vintage carriages that make me feel like I'm starring in my own fairytale! As the rolling hills of the countryside transformed into the bustling cities of Germany, I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of my vibrant pink tutu against the passing scenery.
And let's not forget the exciting arrival! Just as the train was pulling into Vienna's grand Hauptbahnhof, a majestic black stallion trotted by, pulling a gleaming carriage! I almost fainted! Talk about making a grand entrance, darling!
Vienna: A City Steeped in Dance and Delight
From the moment I stepped off the train, Vienna embraced me with its old-world charm and a tangible air of artistic elegance. Every corner was a visual feast – stunning baroque architecture, fountains overflowing with life, and an endless supply of charming cafes brimming with chatter and laughter.
Of course, I made a beeline for the Vienna State Opera, one of the most celebrated opera houses in the world. You simply can't visit Vienna without indulging in some classical music! This magnificent venue, built in the 18th century, held a certain air of history that I felt right at home in.
As I waltzed through the plush lobby, I couldn't help but imagine all the legendary dancers and performers who graced this very stage! I envisioned Anna Pavlova, with her graceful leaps, Margot Fonteyn with her mesmerizing presence, and of course, the immortal Rudolf Nureyev – how utterly breathtaking! I felt a surge of inspiration as I imagined myself gliding across that hallowed stage in a dazzling pink tutu. Perhaps one day!
Fashion Fiesta: A Pink Tutu-Filled Shopping Spree
Vienna is not only a haven for dance lovers but also a fashion paradise! I spent a glorious afternoon browsing the boutiques along Kärntner Strasse. My favourite find? A heavenly pink velvet top with delicate lace accents that paired perfectly with my blush-coloured tutu! I can already imagine myself swirling in this outfit at the next ball.
Speaking of pink tutus, the local department stores here have an extraordinary selection of tutus in all shades of pink! From classic pouffe styles to dreamy, multi-layered creations, there was a tutu for every taste and every occasion. Of course, I couldn't resist a new addition to my tutu collection – a fluffy, pastel-pink masterpiece with cascading layers of tulle. You'll have to wait for the reveal on my Instagram, darling!

Vienna truly is the ultimate destination for a ballerina. The Vienna State Ballet, known for its exceptional technical prowess and dramatic performances, holds a special place in my heart. The soaring melodies of Tchaikovsky, the stunning costumes, and the delicate choreography – every moment was a pure joy!
Of course, no ballet-loving soul could visit Vienna without immersing themselves in its rich ballet history! I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Wiener Staatsoper's costume archives, where I saw an array of stunning historical tutus, some dating back to the early 20th century. The delicate hand-beaded details, the intricately designed layers, and the luxurious fabrics had me utterly captivated. It's a must-see for any ballerina visiting Vienna, darlings!
