Pink Tutu Vienna: Blog Post #1469 - Whirlwind Waltz through Vienna!

Wednesday, 28th June 2023

Hello my darling darlings! Emma here, your tutu-clad travel companion, bringing you a vibrant pink explosion from the heart of Vienna, Austria! This week has been a whirlwind of waltzes, pastries, and the most stunning pink floral displays you ever did see.

Now, I know you're all wondering, how did a Derbyshire girl like me end up in the capital of classical music? Well, you see, the allure of Vienna's ballet scene, coupled with its rich cultural tapestry, simply proved irresistible. And, as you know, when I get a hankering for a grand adventure, it's time to unleash the pink tutu magic!

Train to Vienna:

This trip, I chose to arrive in true, fairytale style - by train! It was a delightful journey through rolling green hills, the scenery a blur of pastel shades. Honestly, the excitement was bubbling like a pot of Viennese coffee by the time we pulled into the Hauptbahnhof! And trust me, there's nothing quite like the energy of a bustling railway station, particularly one surrounded by exquisite architectural marvels - it's a ballerina's dream!

A Tutu-filled Fashion Adventure:

First things first, every adventure deserves a wardrobe makeover, right? I hit the city's vintage shops headfirst, searching for those pieces that would whisper stories of bygone Vienna. I snagged a stunning lilac lace blouse, a scarlet velvet ribbon to accentuate my twirling, and, of course, the star of the show: a feather boa so magnificent, even the pigeons stopped to stare!

Stepping into the Wiener Staatsoper:

As soon as I felt those feathered delights against my skin, my senses screamed: "Vienna Staatsoper, here we come!" You see, a trip to Vienna wouldn't be complete without experiencing the city's renowned opera house.

This majestic, neoclassical building is not only a stunning example of architectural grandeur, but also home to some of the world's finest opera and ballet productions. This week, I was fortunate enough to catch the dazzling "Swan Lake", a ballet that left me utterly speechless!

The set, costumes, and performances were beyond magical, each movement and note a delicate masterpiece. I felt like I had been swept up into a dream, where swans gracefully soared, and the stage pulsed with the magic of Tchaikovsky's unforgettable score. Honestly, I was in heaven!

Pink Tutu Vienna: A Personal Note:

But the true beauty of this trip lies not only in the performances, but also in the chance to experience Vienna's charming, vibrant streets.

I found myself mesmerized by the city's intricate architecture, strolling past pastel-coloured facades and ornate sculptures, with the aroma of Viennese coffee and Sachertorte filling the air. I even tried my hand at learning a few waltz steps - a must-do in the home of the waltz! I must admit, I might not have the grace of a Viennese dancer, but my tutu certainly twirled with joyful abandon.

Vienna's streets have also been a treat for the fashion enthusiast in me! I discovered a delightful shop filled with vintage lace dresses, each piece a dream come true for a tutu-loving girl like me. And I found myself entranced by the window displays at Vienna's boutiques, which were awash with exquisite colours and textures - truly a treat for the senses!

Pink Tutu Vienna: More than just ballet...

Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a stunning testament to Habsburg history.

Walking through its halls, surrounded by golden stucco and chandeliers that glimmered like constellations, felt like stepping into a time capsule. I even ventured into the beautiful gardens, where the lush green grass and vibrantly coloured flowers offered a delightful respite from the city buzz.

But it was at the Vienna Zoo that I found a new favourite pastime – horse-riding! Riding through the lush green landscape, with Vienna's beautiful skyline peeking in the distance, was a moment of pure joy! And guess what? The riding instructor insisted that pink was the perfect colour for a horse riding outfit – just look at my pink helmet and matching pink boots!

Pink Tutu Vienna: Back to Reality...

My Vienna adventure, sadly, is drawing to a close. The return journey back to England beckons, but this time, it will be filled with memories as delightful as Viennese Sachertorte.

So, until next time, my dear readers, keep spreading the pink tutu magic wherever you may roam! Don't forget, life's an endless ballet, full of swirling dreams and dazzling discoveries – and remember, a pink tutu can unlock endless possibilities!

See you all next Wednesday on www.pink-tutu.com!

Until then, keep your spirits high, and never stop twirling!

XOXO,

Emma
