Vienna: A Whirlwind of Pink and Waltz, Blog Post #1538
Hello my dearest Pink Tutu lovers! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another waltz into the world of pink and twirling from yours truly, Emma! This week, I've traded the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the grand elegance of Vienna, Austria. And let me tell you, it's a love affair I never knew I needed.
As soon as I stepped off the train, a feeling of pure joy washed over me. The architecture is a dreamscape of pastel pinks, soft yellows, and crisp white. I could feel a vintage film reel playing in my head - one of those old, black and white flicks filled with romantic waltzes and dapper gentlemen in tuxedos, bowing to beautiful ladies in elegant gowns. It felt as if I had stepped into a time capsule of grandeur and grace, and I, my darling readers, had a feeling it was going to be the most fabulously pink week!
But first, let's talk about the journey. Nothing says "romantic getaway" like a vintage carriage ride through the rolling countryside! My lovely friend, Hans, (who just so happens to be the descendant of a famous Viennese carriage maker, wouldn't you know!) graciously offered to take me on a leisurely ride through the Austrian countryside. The horses were a sight to behold, their coats glistening in the autumn sun as they carried us through the vibrant golden landscape. It felt like I had stumbled upon a scene from a storybook. The sound of the horses' hooves clip-clopping against the cobblestone streets added an element of magic to the journey, almost as enchanting as a ballet soundtrack!
Now, as you know, this little Pink Tutu is a massive fan of ballet, so naturally, I'm obsessed with Vienna's history. It's where the iconic waltz came alive! This majestic dance is so integral to Vienna's culture - it's everywhere you look! Imagine waltzing along the beautiful Vienna Ringstrasse with a dapper gentleman in a crisp tuxedo. I felt so inspired that I started brainstorming a new pink tutu design. Imagine it: flowing chiffon, sparkling pink rhinestones, and maybe even a little touch of that majestic waltzing movement woven into the fabric. Oh my goodness, I can't wait to bring it to life!
Speaking of majestic things, the Viennese Opera House, a truly breathtaking marvel of architecture, held a ballet performance I couldn't miss. It was a classic ballet masterpiece, filled with incredible dancing, beautiful costumes (pink, of course!) and heart-wrenching moments that left me teary-eyed. Watching the dancers spin across the stage felt like witnessing a breathtaking tapestry of emotions. It was like they were using their bodies to paint beautiful stories for us all to see, hear, and feel. I'm planning to go again next week and have my favourite Viennese Waltz costume all ready to go! I even found a beautiful vintage shawl for a touch of Old-World elegance. I may be a Derbyshire girl at heart, but Vienna is truly stealing a piece of mine!
After the ballet, my inner ballerina couldn't resist visiting Vienna’s beautiful State Opera House for some much needed outfit shopping! I absolutely love discovering local, independent boutiques! I have a new passion for vintage fashion, which Vienna does SO well. I couldn't resist buying a stunning floral-print dress perfect for twirling under the Austrian sky, and a beautiful blush-coloured satin evening jacket for a night out in Vienna’s romantic bars and cafés.
The city itself is brimming with energy, from the enchanting Schönbrunn Palace to the St. Stephen's Cathedral and its soaring spires. But my true passion lies with the city's charming little alleyways where local musicians play vibrant music on street corners and vendors selling beautiful floral arrangements fill the air with intoxicating fragrance. This is where Vienna truly sings! I can already tell this is going to be my new happy place!
Now, it's late and I must be getting some beauty sleep! It's a long week of ballet performances and, of course, shopping (because a girl needs to replenish her tutu collection every now and again!) until next Wednesday, my lovelies. Until then, may your lives be filled with pink, twirling and endless inspiration. And remember, if it feels good, let it be pink!
See you next week, with more pink tulle tales from Vienna!
P.S Oh, I nearly forgot to share a little secret: Vienna has this amazing historical tutu museum and I cannot wait to go see it next week! Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I imagine finding some vintage pink tulle inspiration amidst all those stunning creations. Fingers crossed!
Until next time!
XOXO,
Emma
