Hello darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink-loving ballerina, and I’m finally in Vienna, the city of music, waltzes, and of course, a little bit of tutu magic! 🩰 This is my 1589th post on pink-tutu.com (pinch me, is it really that many?!) and I’m so excited to be sharing this fabulous journey with you all. As usual, Wednesdays are for my beloved Vienna blog, so gather ‘round, grab a cuppa (or a glass of prosecco, no judgment!), and let’s get started.
My arrival in Vienna was truly fairytale-like. I took the train, a leisurely ride through stunning scenery. Something about a train journey always sparks creativity – it’s almost like I can feel my ballet steps syncing with the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels on the tracks. When I arrived at the station, a friendly local cab driver, in his shiny, horse-drawn carriage (yes, you read that right!), took me straight to my darling little hotel. It’s quaint, charming, and bursting with pastel hues - a little bit of pink-tutu paradise, wouldn't you agree?
After settling in, I decided to treat myself to a Viennese waltz class. I'm so excited to be learning from some of the most talented dancers in the world. Just imagine, waltzing in my sparkly pink tutu amongst the opulent surroundings of this grand city – what a dream!
I mean, who knew a waltz class could be so empowering?! You wouldn’t believe the amount of pink tutus I saw in the class. It truly proves, even here in Vienna, pink tutu-ism is reaching new heights! As soon as I finished class, I set off to explore Vienna’s majestic Schönbrunn Palace. The palace gardens were simply divine - think lush greenery, sparkling fountains, and graceful swans gliding on the lake. This place is like stepping into a painting! I was truly in awe and, naturally, had to document my every step (or should I say pirouette?) in the pink tutu that was making its grand Vienna debut. You know me, always prepared for a photo opportunity!
Speaking of photos, I found myself mesmerized by the captivating display of baroque and classical artwork at the Museum of Art History. This museum truly epitomizes Viennese culture, so if you're in Vienna, don’t miss it. I swear I could hear the symphony of history echoing around me, just as the orchestras used to do in this beautiful city. And speaking of symphony… tonight I am going to the Vienna State Opera! It is a performance I have been looking forward to for ages. Oh my goodness, I just can’t wait to be swept away by the captivating melody of the orchestra. The magic is already beginning!
Did I mention I found a charming little shop bursting with vintage clothing while strolling through the city streets? Now, we all know that a pink tutu wouldn't be complete without the perfect accessories! My new vintage velvet shawl, embroidered with exquisite detail, and matching pink-tinted sunglasses are going to complete my look perfectly for tonight’s opera. And you can be sure, my dears, that I'll be sharing all the fabulous fashion highlights on Instagram tonight!
After my evening of artistic brilliance, tomorrow I'm planning to explore the city’s lively Naschmarkt market. Imagine stalls overflowing with local produce, fragrant spices, and delicious pastries. I can almost taste the mouthwatering Viennese apple strudel, all thanks to my nose. It's not just about the shopping though. It’s about absorbing the vibrant culture and atmosphere, just like you can feel the beat of the music at every street corner in Vienna. It is a city that genuinely captures your heart with its artistry, charm, and vibrant history.
And to think, my darling pink-loving followers, I'm only just starting my Viennese adventure. But for now, I'll be leaving you with a gentle reminder - always remember to wear your pink tutu with confidence and let the magic of life sparkle in every step!
Stay tuned for more adventures as I journey through the wonders of Vienna. Don’t forget to follow my Instagram, @pinktutuemma for exclusive snippets of my travels!
Yours truly,
Emma xoxo
P.S. Have you ever wondered what’s the difference between a tutu and a ballet skirt? Well, let’s just say it’s a little like comparing apples to…oh I don't know…ballet shoes, perhaps?! 🩰 The ballet skirt, traditionally made of tulle and a bit shorter than the full-length tutu, was created during the early days of ballet, back when those ballerinas needed to move freely and easily while showcasing their fabulous dancing. Now, imagine the ballet skirt, only…longer, bigger and even more spectacular! Yes, my dears, that's the story of the tutu! Born to be extravagant, it came about in the early 20th century to really highlight the grace and beauty of ballet, the drama and finesse of the movements. You see, they don't just dance on the stage; they practically float with all that stunning fabric surrounding them.
Oh, the beauty of it all, don’t you think? That’s why, my darling followers, it’s a testament to my everlasting love for the pink tutu that I'll always keep my blog updates flowing - so that you can join me in my exciting journey of discovering history, art and culture! Now, don't be shy! Come on over to pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for more exciting adventures! And yes, be sure to let me know if you have a favourite tutu you would like to share with the world. And as always, embrace your inner ballerina!
