Dearest readers, hello from Vienna!
The wind whips through my pink tulle as I step onto the platform, the familiar clickety-clack of the train wheels a lullaby against the backdrop of a city steeped in waltzing history. Oh, Vienna, how I adore you! You're a symphony of cobblestone streets, imperial grandeur, and, of course, an endless waltz of inspiration for a pink tutu-wearing ballerina like myself.
This week, I'm stepping outside the box - well, actually, inside the box of a beautiful carriage, drawn by a majestic team of horses! It's a throwback to another era, a gentler pace of life where elegance and grandeur held sway. I'm so delighted to share my travel adventure with you, as always.
Fashionable Fun in Vienna
It’s no secret that Vienna is a treasure trove for any fashionista! From chic boutiques showcasing the latest designers to vintage shops brimming with retro treasures, this city’s got a unique blend of modern and classic. Today, I’m headed to a charming little shop on the Kärntner Straße. They have the most adorable collection of ballet-inspired clothing and accessories. Let’s just say, I couldn't resist adding a few pieces to my ever-expanding pink tutu wardrobe!
And speaking of pink, my readers know how much I adore the color! Vienna embraces pink in its architecture – it’s even known as the “Pink City.” Imagine my joy at finding a quaint little café nestled among the cobbled streets, its facade painted a breathtaking shade of bubblegum pink. We sat sipping Viennese coffee and indulging in delectable strudels, while soaking in the sights of Vienna.
Waltzing Through Time: Ballet and the City's Soul
Of course, a trip to Vienna isn't complete without embracing its deep-rooted connection to ballet. On January 21st, the Vienna State Opera hosts a stunning performance of “Swan Lake” – a breathtaking spectacle of classic ballet that's set to captivate my heart. I’ll be mesmerised by the delicate movements, the elegance of the costumes, and the sheer power of storytelling that transcends language.

Today, as I amble through the city’s grand palaces and museums, I can't help but imagine the elegance of ballerinas gracefully waltzing through these hallowed halls centuries ago. Vienna, like my beloved Derbyshire, has an enchanting magic. Its cobbled streets, the grand palaces, the sweet smell of fresh pastries… I can’t help but feel like I've stepped into a fairytale. The pink tutu helps me capture this feeling - it reminds me of the beauty and grace that fills this extraordinary city.
It's been such a magical week. It’s not always easy being a tutu-wearing ballerina on the go, but Vienna has captured my heart with its charming architecture, its waltz-worthy melodies, and its sweet symphony of experiences.
