Hello my darling dears!

It’s Emma here, reporting live from the enchanting city of Vienna! I've arrived by train, of course, a mode of transport which always feels so elegant and romantic, especially when you’re surrounded by breathtaking scenery like the Alps. Speaking of breathtaking, did I tell you about the new shade of pink I found at the station shop? I just had to get myself a pair of gloves in this gorgeous, almost peachy-pink! Perfect for my new tulle tutu I brought with me, which I simply can’t resist pairing with everything!

As usual, Vienna hasn’t disappointed. It's positively brimming with all things fabulous! Every corner seems to radiate history and romance, the grand architecture is a sight to behold, and the music – oh, the music! The waltzes echoing through the streets are almost intoxicating! It’s like stepping into a ballet performance!

This week, I've been exploring the city’s dance scene, naturally. The most amazing part is that even though the grand opera houses are impressive (think soaring ceilings and decadent chandeliers) the real beauty is on the streets. There’s so much public dance, spontaneous street performances – a mix of contemporary and classical. Yesterday, I watched a troupe of dancers swirling across a cobblestone square, their graceful moves set to the strains of Mozart – I literally burst into tears! You know, sometimes, it takes the unexpected to bring you back to why you do what you do, you know?

Anyway, my dearest friends, it’s hard to choose where to begin telling you about everything!

Vienna has a ballet history almost as long as its own! I visited the Burgtheater, the national theatre, to see a production of “Swan Lake”. The entire experience was divine, a grand Victorian-era building filled with gold ornamentation, velvet drapes, and the sweet smell of jasmine. This theatre is a true treasure – it was originally built in 1741, imagine that! They tell you stories about how Marie Antoinette actually saw a play there before the revolution! I love it!

For my own “research”, I even had the chance to spend an afternoon at the Vienna State Opera. My heart literally fluttered! To be honest, I spent most of the time lost in admiration of their incredible tutu collection in the costume department. I simply cannot help myself - when it comes to tutus, I become completely enchanted. Can you imagine a collection so grand it houses over 6,000? Every size, shape, fabric, colour imaginable – I couldn’t get over the sheer spectacle! I practically fainted when I saw a stunning 19th century tutu in pink silk, it’s so intricate, a true testament to the skill of past generations of costume makers. I felt transported back to the Victorian era. The entire department itself was a marvel of artistry and attention to detail, every needle-prick a work of love and precision! The detail, the colours, the fabrics… simply divine! I'll be posting photos soon, promise!

And speaking of tutus, Vienna has been a real treat in this area too.

Shopping, you see, is always a highlight of my travels! Every new place promises the thrill of a new discovery, especially in the realm of fashion.

This time around, I simply had to visit Schiller Department Store for a quick browsing session. It’s just delightful for window shopping! Of course, I had to bring home a new hat! It’s a pale pink wide-brimmed straw hat with a delicate veil, a vintage look that just makes me feel incredibly elegant and stylish, you know? Plus, a straw hat with pink silk ribbon on a vintage hairnet – it’s truly exquisite!

I must admit, I simply cannot pass by a good shoe shop. That's how I ended up at the amazing Resteröds, known for their incredibly curated collection of designer footwear. What caught my eye this time was a pair of champagne pink pumps. So dainty, so beautifully made! The color just popped against my little pink tulle dress – it felt perfect! Imagine my joy!

There are also plenty of gorgeous boutiques with an excellent array of dancewear. There’s one I love on the corner of Kohlmarkt and Graben streets, a tiny little place called Tüllerei, and it’s filled to the brim with stunning tulle fabrics, ribbons, and an absolute plethora of embellishments, perfect for those special occasion moments!

Of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without a visit to Sacher Hotel for a slice of their famous Sachertorte! The cake itself is legendary, a dense and rich chocolate cake, but for me, the icing on the cake is a cup of tea and my favourite pink cake stand - you can see my little love affair for all things pink is quite passionate!

Now, to talk about something entirely different! It turns out, Vienna is renowned for its equestrian history. You know, horses are quite fascinating – their power and grace – an inspiring subject to study and photograph. I am also quite passionate about them, I even find time to ride a few times a week. There is something rather poetic about connecting with such creatures.

So, it’s no surprise I went to the Spanish Riding School. Now, I knew this place was famous for its stunning Lipizzaner horses, trained with such artistry, but what I didn’t expect was how incredible the entire venue would be! They even host equestrian performances, a fascinating combination of ballet and horseback riding – I was mesmerized! It really is a testament to centuries of training, where these horses can perform these complicated maneuvers with such finesse. Seeing these elegant horses perform in such an opulent setting - I felt like I was in a dream!

In fact, I felt inspired! And now, I just can’t resist thinking how incredibly chic it would look to have a horse in the same colour as my pink tutu! A vibrant pink Lipizzaner horse, you know, like in my dreams! The elegance, the grace, the pure loveliness! I am going to look into it, maybe try a horse show… just a little daydream for now!

Honestly, my trip has been a total whirlwind of color, fashion, and dance. You can feel it everywhere! Vienna feels magical, full of stories waiting to be discovered. What’s truly beautiful about this place is how history seems to blend seamlessly into the present day. I’m even learning the local dances to share some of them on Instagram and Youtube. It's been a whirlwind!

I've discovered so many interesting places to take a selfie or have afternoon tea, not to mention those dreamy cafe houses that look like they came straight out of a fairytale! I even saw some ballet dancers practicing on the streets - a little unexpected but totally charming.

And with that, my friends, I must go and prepare for the Ballet Gala taking place tonight! The Vienna Ballet is known for its spectacular performances. I just can't wait to soak it all up! I have no doubt it will be a truly special night – one I’ll be writing about next week.
