Hello my darling tutus! Welcome back to another Wednesday edition of Pink Tutu Vienna! As you know, I, Emma, your very own tutu-wearing whirlwind from Derbyshire, have a bit of a soft spot for this charming city, and this week is no exception!
I'm currently perched at a window table overlooking the Vienna State Opera, my little pink tutu swirling around my knees as I sip on a delicately frothed cappuccino. (They really know how to do coffee here!)
This week, my Viennese adventures have been a flurry of fashion, ballet, and a healthy dose of historical indulgence.
Fashion Forward
Now, you know I have a weakness for fabulous fashion, and Vienna certainly hasn't disappointed. I popped into a few of the delightful boutiques tucked away on the cobblestone streets around the Stephansdom (Vienna's magnificent cathedral). You simply HAVE to visit it if you're ever in town!
My recent acquisitions? Well, how about a stunningly elegant, midnight blue silk dress with a little sequined detail, and a pair of shoes in a shade of pink so pale it could make a blushing rose jealous? Oh, and I can't forget the little, perfectly-fitting straw hat I bought with a pink satin ribbon, just the thing for strolling around the park. You can bet that outfit is going to make an appearance in my next performance!
Tutus and Tulle
Of course, any trip to Vienna wouldn't be complete without a visit to the ballet! This week, I managed to snag tickets for "Swan Lake" at the Vienna State Opera. What a stunning performance! The sheer grace and talent of the dancers left me utterly mesmerized, and I found myself absolutely glued to the story of Odette and Siegfried, those tragic lovers. You know how much I adore the story, the graceful, emotive moves, and those iconic, breathtaking costumes!
It's no surprise that the Vienna State Ballet is renowned globally - these dancers truly possess the magic that can turn an audience speechless! Speaking of the magic of ballet... I made a lovely new friend in the costume department – she is the tutu queen! She's helping me to source vintage materials to make my next stage tutu! The intricate design ideas are swirling in my mind! It is going to be utterly breathtaking!
From Royal Hapsburgs to Equestrian Adventures
Yesterday, I hopped on a historical horse-drawn carriage for a tour through Vienna's historic streets. The sound of the horses’ hooves echoing against the cobblestones, the gentle sway of the carriage, and the picturesque buildings passing by ... pure romance!
The carriage ride took me past the glorious Hofburg Palace, the former residence of the Habsburg emperors, a testament to Austria's rich royal past. You can practically feel the weight of history in the very air!
Later that afternoon, I decided to take a charming horse ride through the Prater, Vienna’s vast park, a delightful oasis right in the middle of the city! The scent of freshly-cut grass and blooming flowers filled the air as I ambled through the park, feeling utterly serene. There’s something so wonderful about slowing down, listening to the rhythm of the horse's footsteps, and being fully present in the moment.
Finding Inspiration in the City of Waltz
As you know, my mission in life is to inspire everyone to embrace their inner ballerina – pink tutus included! Here in Vienna, it seems, there's an aura of elegance and grace in every cobblestone alleyway and park bench! It’s all so enchanting!
The city's love for the waltz, and the echoes of the legendary waltzes of the Strauss family that permeate the atmosphere… it makes you want to dance, doesn't it? The passion, the beauty, and the art... Vienna is the ultimate expression of artistic spirit, reminding us of the magical moments in life that make life a wonderful dance.
But even beyond the glamorous theaters, waltz halls and palace grounds, Vienna offers so much more to experience. It’s an extraordinary city full of quirky corners, vibrant street performers, and delectable pastry shops.
A Little Reminder to Keep Sparkling
And speaking of delectable pastries, how could I forget to mention the iconic Viennese Apfelstrudel? Divine!
I am always finding so much to inspire me in my travels. Remember to be like me, darlings – always stay curious, always look for beauty in the mundane, always seek adventure, and most importantly, never, ever, be afraid to twirl!
Join me again next Wednesday for more delightful adventures from Pink Tutu Vienna, when I will be revealing details about my upcoming performance! Until then, remember to wear your smile wide, let your tutu fly high, and keep dancing!
Lots of love,
Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
