Vienna Waltz: A Pink Tutu Adventure - Blog Post #1678

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, Emma, writing to you from the heart of Vienna, Austria. I know, I know, it’s hard to believe I’m actually here in this enchanting city. A city that, just like me, is brimming with history, romance, and a touch of…well, you guessed it…PINK!

It’s Wednesday, so as per my weekly ritual, I’m grabbing my laptop and settling in at a charming café with the most heavenly cherry strudel and a cup of Viennese coffee. Vienna’s architecture, so grand and majestic, with its intricate details and grand facades, already has me swooning! Imagine if a building could wear a pink tutu…it would be a sight for sore eyes, wouldn’t it? Perhaps a bit of a stretch even for Vienna!

I’ve always dreamt of experiencing this city of music, waltz, and history – and let me tell you, it is living up to every ounce of hype. It feels as if I’ve stepped straight into a romantic novel, and not just any novel, but one adorned in pink satin and sparkling sequins. (Can you imagine the exquisite ballet performance they'd be having at the end of this novel? whispers a pink tutu finale, I bet! ).

So, you ask, how did I end up here? Well, darlings, remember that incredible fundraising gala I held in my hometown, Derby? Yes, my little fundraising adventure with the Derby Theatre Company – all in aid of the new dance studio, which I’m delighted to say was a huge success. You were all so amazing with your donations. So much so that I managed to fund a whole week of exciting exploration and fun in Vienna. Talk about a dream come true! You guys truly are the best.

As soon as I arrived, I set off on a romantic adventure, travelling from the central station, with its grand vaulted ceilings and swirling motifs, to the historic centre on one of Vienna’s magnificent horse-drawn carriages. It was truly enchanting – I’ve never felt so royal, and the gentle clip-clop of hooves only added to the romantic air! You know me – always striving for a touch of magic in my life, especially when travelling.

But of course, it wouldn't be an Emma Pink Tutu blog without talking fashion! Oh, my darlings, Vienna is truly a fashion paradise! I’ve been absolutely swept off my feet by the intricate, elegant boutiques, the vintage treasures I’ve discovered tucked away in backstreets, and of course, the glorious Wiener Staatsoper, or the Vienna State Opera, with its impeccable couture. Who wouldn’t fall in love with a city so chic and stylish, especially with a little something pink in every corner?

Speaking of pink, the next stop on my Vienna adventure was a charming little antique store – a treasure trove of delights! I fell in love with a delicate vintage pink tutu, oh so exquisitely crafted – lace, ribbon, and all the embellishments my heart could desire! I couldn’t resist bringing it home as a little souvenir of my trip, but of course, it’ll also be my inspiration for a fabulous new performance…mystery-music Let’s just say the universe whispered something about “vintage flair, but modern day.”

Of course, a trip to Vienna wouldn’t be complete without attending a ballet performance, wouldn't it? The ballet here is a true reflection of the city's romantic spirit. And I am overjoyed to have tickets to the Vienna State Opera, just imagine the gowns, the choreography…simply divine. On my first evening here I’m seeing "Giselle,” such a haunting and beautiful ballet, a perfect start to my ballet filled adventure. The waltz sequence…simply breathtaking!

Today, however, my dancing shoes will be getting a rest. After an early morning stroll through the breathtaking Schönbrunn Palace, taking in the royal gardens, I’m venturing into the Vienna Arts and Crafts Museum, a haven for inspiration, a symphony for the senses, especially for someone who loves fashion, design, and anything beautifully created, such as myself. Who knows what treasures I’ll unearth here! Maybe even an old, forgotten ballerina costume?

There are still so many things I’m excited to discover! I've already sampled Vienna’s delicious cuisine, enjoyed some of its enchanting museums and sights. Vienna’s streets are brimming with cafes and charming bookstores and I’m already plotting my return! And with the prospect of an exciting Viennese opera performance at the end of the week, you know I'll be spending some time in the rehearsal rooms. (My lovely ballet-loving friends from Derbyshire would know, it's not unusual for me to spend my vacations working on my technique) Oh, and let's not forget the delectable cakes, tarts, and pastries that Vienna offers!

From dancing beneath the Vienna State Opera chandelier to the beautiful palaces, the parks, the elegant cafes… and my newly acquired vintage pink tutu (a must for my next show! )… I have to say, I’ve fallen head over heels with Vienna! And, if I'm being truly honest, the entire trip just proves how my belief, “Every girl needs a pink tutu” rings so true, especially if you’re planning on adding a dash of fairytale romance into your life. Vienna is definitely a city for all my pink tutu sisters, so join me on my next adventure, dear darlings, I’ll be bringing you all the glitz, the glam, and of course, more pink tutu love. See you on Wednesday!

XOXO

Emma.
