Hello darlings! It's Emma, your pink tutu-clad friend, back with another fabulous adventure! This week I've found myself in the enchanting city of Vienna, Austria - and oh my, it's absolutely captivating! I think Vienna might just be my new favourite place, the romantic architecture, the stunning parks, the buzzing culture – it's all so perfect, it almost feels like a fairytale!
I travelled here by train, naturally, which is always such a lovely way to see the world unfold. My journey was a whirlwind of romantic countryside views, delicious sandwiches (with a little bit of pink cake for good measure), and catching up on all my favourite magazines. The whole trip was so perfectly pink, I almost thought I'd wandered into a ballet set!
But speaking of ballet, I'm thrilled to be in Vienna, the birthplace of waltzes and the cradle of so much amazing dance history! This city practically pulsates with the energy of the past. Just strolling around the city centre, you can imagine the waltzes swirling and the beautiful ballerinas pirouetteing in the courtyards of these grand buildings. Vienna has the most amazing ballet museums, too, with the most fabulous collection of old tutus – think ruffles and frills galore, all beautifully crafted. My favourite one, so far, was this amazing pale pink satin tutu, the material was so delicate and the colour just mesmerising – it really took my breath away!
Now, this city isn't just about historical grandeur – it’s full of life and excitement. Last night I was lucky enough to see a show at the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera). I could not have dreamed of a better experience, even before the show! The theatre is just breathtaking – elegant marble hallways, gold-leaf details everywhere, velvet-covered seats and even a beautiful chandelier!
I decided to embrace the occasion by dressing for the part, of course. My choice for the evening was a full, soft pink tulle tutu paired with a glittering emerald top. It felt absolutely perfect! My heart skipped a beat when the music began, the dancers glided effortlessly across the stage, their costumes sparkling, and the stage lights shone brightly. Every step felt like pure magic, and I swear I could have watched the whole performance over and over!
Now, who can go to Vienna without a little indulgence in shopping, right? This city is a veritable fashion heaven, darling. Think grand designer stores alongside charming boutiques bursting with quirky clothes and vintage finds. Naturally, my top priority is pink - I'm a little obsessed, if you haven't already noticed! But Vienna has such a vibrant mix of styles, and the designers here have a true appreciation for colour. I found myself walking around with my arms laden with colourful silk scarves and some divine sparkly earrings – a little glitz and glam never hurt anyone, you know!
I haven’t had a chance to visit all the lovely museums yet, but I'm making a bee-line to see the Kunsthistorisches Museum next, their collection of ancient Roman and Greek sculpture sounds absolutely fascinating! And of course, I'm making sure I find some time to visit Schönbrunn Palace. I’ve seen photos and it’s utterly beautiful, and I imagine it's equally romantic up close – so expect a whole lot of photos! Plus, they’re rumoured to have amazing horse-drawn carriages – wouldn't that be a perfect day trip, whisking around the streets of Vienna in all my pink tulle glory!
Vienna has definitely captured my heart, it’s a place that feels incredibly vibrant and welcoming. Even the Viennese dogs have a stylish, elegant air about them! I mean, they were strutting around wearing adorable pink tutus – a few even had little tiaras!
And who knows, maybe my dream will finally come true and one day, Vienna itself will be dressed in a sea of pink tutus. Wouldn't that be a sight to behold?!
Well, my darlings, I have a feeling that my Viennese adventure is just getting started. But before I go, remember to subscribe to my blog and follow my latest updates on my Instagram, where I'll be posting more photos from Vienna and, naturally, plenty of tutus! Until next time, keep those pink tutus twirling, and always remember that life is a stage, darling, and we’re all meant to sparkle!
Ciao, for now!
What's On In Vienna TodayNow, as for what's happening today – oh darling, it's packed full of excitement! The famous Wiener Staatsoper has a magnificent rendition of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" on today's programme – pure magic, just like the show last night! You might also catch the spectacular, full-blown classical "ballet-extraordinaire" at the Vienna Volksoper. They're performing Swan Lake, so be prepared to be swept off your feet with the romantic beauty of the classical ballet! And if that's not enough for your ballet-obsessed self (you know I understand), don’t miss the Vienna Ballet Association’s showcase at the Schönbrunn Palace Gardens – oh my, what a combination, waltzing around the palace gardens, in your very best tutu, watching an inspiring ballet showcase! And speaking of the Schönbrunn Gardens, today there’s also an exciting dressage show – I’m already thinking of what kind of pink outfit will complement the horses’ attire – oh, the possibilities!
You can find out more about all of these wonderful events on my website, where I have links to all the necessary information. And of course, darling, my adventures here aren't over yet. There’s a wonderful Viennese ballet workshop on tomorrow that I am already planning to take. It’s going to be a little less tutus, and a little more professional, but it’s a great opportunity to connect with the city and, you know, the tutus!
Stay tuned!
Emma
