Hello lovelies! I'm Emma, and I'm thrilled to be sharing another delightful #PinkTutuVienna adventure with you all, from the heart of this enchanting city! As always, it's Wednesday, which means a brand new blog post on www.pink-tutu.com! Let's delve into the magic of this week.
Vienna, as you all know, is an absolute haven for a ballet-loving girl like me! The sheer history, the magnificent architecture, the regal air - it’s all so incredibly inspiring! And it wouldn't be a true #PinkTutuVienna adventure without a pink tutu, would it? My go-to this week is a breathtaking pale pink tutu, all soft layers and shimmering tulle. I simply adore it!
But before I take you on a twirl around the city, I'd like to catch you up on a pinch me moment from the past week. I performed at the Salzburg Festival! Being able to dance under the stars, in such a prestigious venue, was truly unforgettable. You could see the awe and appreciation in the eyes of the audience. It truly reinforced my belief that ballet is a universal language, capable of connecting hearts across all cultures and backgrounds.
Now, let’s talk Vienna. The city has been abuzz this week! The Imperial Palace has been a hive of activity with a special exhibition on the life and reign of Empress Elisabeth, a woman known for her love of ballet. You’ll find me strolling through the State Apartments, soaking in the grandeur and imagining the elegant figures gracefully gliding across the floor, as they once did centuries ago.
I’ve also been savouring Vienna’s enchanting street performances. From talented street dancers to vibrant buskers playing the accordion, every corner feels alive with art and expression. And, of course, I couldn’t resist grabbing a classic Viennese coffee and a piece of Sachertorte at Café Sacher – a perfect indulgence after a day of exploration.
Vienna truly does cater to my passions - it's a melting pot of ballet, history, fashion, and culture. The city itself is almost like a giant ballet stage, where every cobbled street and ancient building play their role in the grand symphony of history. And my trusty travel companion, a graceful, dappled grey steed named Skye, helps me discover the hidden corners and secret gardens that whisper forgotten tales.
Speaking of horses, a highlight of the week was my visit to the Lipizzaner horses of the Spanish Riding School. Seeing these majestic creatures perform was a captivating experience, the epitome of grace and athleticism. Their precise movements, the riders' skill, and the timeless tradition all came together in a spectacular spectacle that left me awestruck. It's a testament to the beautiful bond between human and animal, reminding me that ballet isn’t just about human movement - it’s a story of graceful collaboration.
I can’t leave out a special mention for the Vienna State Opera! The majestic architecture, the opulence, the sheer grandeur of the space, the atmosphere buzzing with anticipation - it's simply intoxicating! And this week, I was lucky enough to catch a performance of The Sleeping Beauty, with its beautiful costumes and breathtaking choreography. I couldn't help but feel a surge of pure happiness, my heart soaring with the music and the intricate movements. I am in my element when surrounded by such artistry and passion!
However, no ballet adventure is complete without a touch of shopping, is it? I discovered a little vintage boutique nestled down a quiet cobbled street in Vienna's 7th district. The place was overflowing with vintage gems! And imagine my delight - they had a beautiful vintage pink tutu, perfectly suited for my #PinkTutuVienna style! Now, I’m imagining it paired with a stylish leather jacket, perhaps a bold lip and a touch of sparkle. My London outfit for a gala this coming weekend!
On a slightly different note, I have also been reflecting on the extraordinary world of fashion and its connection to the elegance and precision of ballet. From the swirling layers of a dancer's skirt to the intricate details of a ballet shoe, fashion and ballet have always been intertwined. Ballet's delicate artistry informs design and the art of costuming.
