Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad travel enthusiast, and I’m buzzing to share all the fabulously frilly details of my latest adventure! Today, I’m whisking you off to Vienna, the heart of waltzing, music, and oh-so-much charm! This is post number 1735 on my blog, Pink Tutu Vienna, and it’s a Wednesday, which means another magical week of sharing my love for all things ballet, beautiful, and bursting with pink!
You see, darling, this Vienna trip is extra special! My darling grand-mère gave me tickets to see the world-famous Vienna State Opera perform “La Bayadère,” which, I'm positively tickled pink to say, is one of my all-time favourite ballets! I'm wearing a bespoke tutu from the most divine shop I stumbled upon just for this occasion – it's a dreamy shade of dusty rose, absolutely perfect for swirling amongst the chandeliers of the Opera House!
This journey, like all of my escapades, has been a magical blend of ballet brilliance, beautiful boutiques, and charming carriage rides! And speaking of carriages, how could I be in Vienna, the birthplace of the horse-drawn cab, without a romantic jaunt through the streets? It's a true touch of old-world elegance! I felt like a princess stepping out of a fairytale! I mean, just picture it: sunshine dappling on the cobblestones, the gentle clip-clop of horses' hooves, and the most adorable carriage driver with a cheeky twinkle in his eye! It's a picture perfect moment.
Oh, darling, don't even get me started on the ballet performance last night! I’ve seen “La Bayadère” dozens of times but there’s always a new magic that unfolds. The costumes, the choreography, the music – it’s simply sublime!
But darling, Vienna has much more to offer than ballet. Oh, I'm already falling head-over-heels in love with this city! From the whimsical artistry of Hundertwasserhaus, an enchanting masterpiece of whimsical architecture with its quirky, colourful facade and lush greenery, to the opulent interiors of Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna truly oozes with charm.
Shopping in Vienna is a delicious dance of finding those unique treasures! Let me tell you, I am on a mission to make everyone wear pink tutus! I popped into the cutest vintage clothing store in the heart of the city yesterday and I swear, they had a tutu just for me, hidden amongst racks of pastel silk and delicate lace. They've got this wonderful collection of vintage ballerina costumes, from shimmering tutus to beautiful pointe shoes – a true delight for any ballet-lover.
But it wouldn't be a true “Pink Tutu Vienna” post without mentioning the exquisite ballet museums and heritage sites here! We’re talking Vienna State Opera House, with its majestic history and world-class performances. It’s the kind of place where history literally sings. Then, there's the gorgeous Tanzmuseum Wien (the Vienna Dance Museum) – they have an absolutely divine exhibit showcasing the history of ballet shoes, tutus, and stage makeup. The colours! The designs! You can truly see the artistry and evolution of these costumes! I've spent hours there!
As you know, I'm a sucker for anything that combines my love of history, travel and ballet! I find a great joy in connecting with the roots of dance, and seeing how it’s grown and evolved. And what better place to do this than in Vienna, where the waltz was born? And talking about waltz – did you know there is a whole dance academy dedicated to the waltz? It’s called the Wiener Staatsoper Ballet School – where aspiring ballerinas can learn the intricate steps and graceful moves of this quintessential Viennese dance! I can't wait to go there and spin amongst the elegant steps and historic grandeur. I even learned some moves myself!
On my blog, I’ll be posting more detailed reviews and stories about my adventures in Vienna throughout the week. It’s impossible to fit it all in one post, honestly. So come on, darling, join me on this wonderful adventure as we explore the Waltz Capital, a city buzzing with the melody of life and a symphony of colour, beauty and… oh yes… plenty of pink tutus!
I’m excited to see what delights Vienna holds for me. It's hard to believe it's already August - summer is just whizzing by! Time to find myself a comfy bench by the Danube Canal, sip some refreshing apricot ice tea (it's just too divine!) and catch the evening sun bathe the city in a soft, rosy glow! And, as always, I'll be updating you on all the sparkly shenanigans here and on the Pink Tutu Vienna blog – make sure to subscribe to www.pink-tutu.com, darling!
Until next week, remember: spread joy, wear a pink tutu, and twirl your way through life!
Yours truly, Emma ??
