Dearest readers!
Welcome back to Pink Tutu Vienna! It’s Wednesday, the 13th of September 2028, and the autumn leaves are just starting to turn – a lovely sign that Vienna is embracing a new season. As always, I’m wearing my favourite pink tutu, this time a sparkling pink tulle number, adorned with delicate pink roses, perfect for a day of Viennese waltzes and decadent pastries!
This week has been a whirl of activity. Last weekend I saw the most incredible ballet performance at the Vienna State Opera. The sheer spectacle was stunning, and I was completely captivated by the choreography and the sheer talent of the dancers. I mean, imagine – graceful movements, shimmering costumes, the sweeping music of a Strauss waltz… it’s pure magic!
But it wasn’t just about the big-time ballet. I also had a lovely morning at the "Tanzschule" - the ballet school. A beautiful studio, with mirrors galore and the faint scent of dance shoes lingering in the air. A small class of young ballerinas and I danced and twirled in perfect harmony, all dressed in our most darling tutu frocks, naturally! It’s amazing how a few leaps and a graceful pirouette can make you feel so empowered. I can’t think of a better way to start a day than with a ballet class, followed by a perfectly pink cappuccino, naturally!
My love for ballet, you know, stems from my very first childhood memory - twirling in a pink tulle tutu, imitating my ballet heroines at age 3. And from that moment on, I knew – tutus were my destiny!
I’m all about following my dreams, and this passion of mine – this tutu life – has taken me all around the world. You might be thinking: "But how does a tutu-wearing girl travel the globe?” Well, darling, it’s all thanks to the magic of my ballet performances! You might find me spinning on the stage in a Parisian opera house one day, then on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean the next. I simply love the thrill of performing for audiences far and wide!
As I journey, I like to experience the world as a local. Which means exploring local markets, charming boutiques, and soaking up the atmosphere – all whilst maintaining my signature style, of course. The shops here in Vienna are overflowing with treasures! Imagine delicate pink hats adorned with flowers, elegant gloves and scarves in shades of pale pink and blush – it's a fashionista's dream come true! I’m so smitten by all the intricate detail in every garment - every ruffle, every button, every intricate trim... pure beauty! It really makes me want to grab every item I can find! It’s so refreshing to find yourself surrounded by such creativity and elegance – a true treat for the soul!
And of course, Vienna is known for its historical and cultural delights. It was fascinating to explore Schönbrunn Palace, once the residence of Empress Maria Theresa, imagining the grand balls and opulent dinners that once graced its halls. Seeing the beautifully crafted gilded rooms and strolling through the gardens felt like stepping back in time.
Speaking of history, have you heard of the fascinating connection between tutus and Vienna? Did you know that the famous "crinoline" - that dramatic, bell-shaped skirt you see in period dramas? – well, it was actually influenced by Vienna! Imagine the bustle of the fashion world in Vienna – ladies wearing voluminous, billowing skirts with crinoline and flounces and a delightful array of colours – that is what spurred on the innovation of the tutu! It’s amazing how the city's fashion influence has reverberated through the ages!
What else have I been up to? I was very fortunate to ride a carriage through the Prater park. Just picture it - an elegant horse carriage, the rhythmic clip-clop of horse hooves, a refreshing autumn breeze – it was pure bliss. I truly adore travelling by horse-drawn carriage. Such a delightful and elegant mode of transportation. It’s the most delightful way to see a city, with an air of timelessness and charm. It takes me back to those dreamy fairytale stories that I used to love as a child. It reminds me how special this time we have together on earth is, and it always inspires my artistic creativity.
Today, I plan on wandering the charming streets of Vienna, browsing those beautiful boutiques. You know, just absorbing the atmosphere and perhaps indulging in a Viennese Sachertorte or two. A delicate treat with my cuppa! If you’re ever in Vienna, do try one - it’s a chocolate indulgence that's both decadent and absolutely delightful!
But as always, my dearest friends, my life in Vienna isn't just about tutus and chocolate cakes. It’s also about sharing the joy of dance and the elegance of a pink tutu with you all. So do join me next Wednesday for another journey of pink tutus, ballet adventures, and my very own Parisian chic journey through Europe. I can’t wait to share my next adventure with you all.
Until then, embrace the magic of tutus!
And, oh! Do you know what my favourite part of the day is? It’s actually the evening! I just love walking around the beautiful cobbled streets here in Vienna, adorned in my best tutu outfit, watching the golden sun dip below the horizon. The sky glows in shades of pink and orange, the perfect complement to my pink tulle gown! I feel so utterly enchanted! And you know, this brings me back to what it’s all about - that joy of experiencing the beauty and magic that's all around us - and that is my mission. I believe that each of us has the power to create beauty in the world - we simply have to let it shine! And remember, there's a little ballerina princess in every girl - embrace her, celebrate her!
See you next Wednesday, lovelies!
Until then, twirl gracefully,
Emma
