Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh installment of Pink Tutu Vienna, and trust me, this week is absolutely bursting with colour, romance and a sprinkle of fairy dust.
Vienna. Oh, Vienna. How do you manage to be so effortlessly charming? The city’s architecture is like stepping into a fairytale, each building a masterpiece, every cobbled street a romantic vignette. I'm staying at a darling little hotel just off the Ringstrasse, right next to a magnificent church (whose name escapes me, sorry!). The rooms are all done in shades of lavender and white with gorgeous antique furniture and a big, fluffy bed that’s just begging to be twirled upon! I love those old, high ceilings. They make you feel like a real princess.
Now, let's get down to the nitty-gritty. What’s on in Vienna today, Wednesday, February 21st?
Well, you lucky things, you get to join me for an absolute whirlwind!
Morning: After a scrumptious Viennese breakfast of pastries (because who needs boring toast?), I’m whisked away on a vintage horse-drawn carriage tour through the city centre. It’s utterly romantic! We weave our way past the magnificent Hofburg Palace, with its gold-trimmed façade. Every few steps, I spot a magnificent palace or church – Vienna's architectural wealth is truly staggering. But the best bit? The carriage driver is a dashing chap with a glorious handlebar moustache. My dear friends, you can bet this picture-perfect scenario is already plastered all over my Insta stories.
Lunch: Today, lunch is a simple but decadent affair at a charming little cafe in the heart of the city. Wiener Schnitzel, naturally! It was just heavenly – crispy, tender, and with the perfect accompaniment of potatoes.
Afternoon: Now, here's where the magic really begins. My afternoon is spent at the Vienna State Opera House, one of the world’s most famous opera houses. Today they're putting on a production of Wagner’s 'Tannhäuser'. The gorgeous grandeur of the theatre, the impassioned singing, the costumes! Absolutely divine. The opera’s themes of love, betrayal and redemption, set to Wagner's incredible music, are just soooo me!
Later this evening: Now, I’m on the lookout for a special little Tanzparty (dance party!). My Pink Tutu needs to stretch her legs! You never know, I might even discover a hidden gem – maybe a traditional Austrian dance I’ve never seen before! I’ve already got my eye on an adorable tutu (it’s naturally pink) with silver sequined accents for the occasion.
Speaking of tutus, my love for this garment only continues to grow. I’ve been reading up on the history of the tutu – a journey that takes me from the ballet’s early days, all the way to the whimsical fashion trends of today. I’m absolutely captivated by its journey – the elegance, the evolution, and the endless creativity.
As you know, the whole “Pink Tutu Vienna” adventure is funded by my ballet performances – and you guys wouldn’t believe the incredible audiences I’ve encountered so far. Last week I performed for the Duchess of York at a fundraising event at St. James’s Palace in London. She was so kind, and her smile truly lit up the room! But even more rewarding is seeing little girls’ eyes light up when I spin, knowing that perhaps somewhere deep down, my passion is inspiring a little future ballerina to follow her own dreams.
Don’t you think we all need a little bit of pink tutu magic in our lives? There’s something so wonderful about feeling carefree and confident. It reminds you to embrace the simple joys in life and to always stay playful and bold, like a graceful butterfly soaring through the air.
