Guten Tag, darling tutus!
It's Wednesday again, which means another installment of your favourite pink-tutu-clad, travel-obsessed blogger! This week, I've whisked myself off to the charming, romantic, and oh-so-musical city of Vienna.
I swear, you guys, my life is a dream come true. Just imagine: a whimsical tutu-wearing ballet aficionado, galloping through Europe on a horse-drawn carriage, her pockets lined with earnings from graceful performances, all to fuel her adventures. Now imagine all that with the backdrop of Vienna, with its ornate palaces, grand coffee houses, and that magical, waltz-filled air! Yes, it's truly a fairytale!
(Speaking of fairytales, you know I had to visit the Schönbrunn Palace, right? So breathtaking! And all those swans and peacocks flitting around...pure fairytale vibes!)
Getting Here: A Horse-Powered Journey
This trip has a little bit of everything, and that includes the way I arrived. Now, normally, you know I'm a huge fan of train travel - nothing quite beats gliding through Europe's picturesque countryside on a comfy carriage. But this time, I wanted a dash of fairytale magic, and Vienna delivers on that! Imagine my delight when I discovered I could journey to the city by horse-drawn carriage. Seriously, how utterly charming?! Think flowing auburn mane, clopping hooves, and that unique aroma of leather and fresh air...
(It goes without saying I was wearing a pink tutu. Because why wouldn't I?! )
Vienna's Ballet Scene: A Symphony of Talent
Okay, so here's the thing: Vienna isn't just known for waltzes and Strauss, it also boasts one of the world's most esteemed ballet companies: the Vienna State Opera Ballet. And I had to see them! My, oh, my, those dancers were simply stunning - the graceful movements, the effortless jumps, and the sheer joy in their dancing radiated through the entire theatre. I sat mesmerized, my heart swelling with pride for the dedication and talent showcased on that stage. And just as my spirits soared with the ballet, I found myself enchanted by the grand Vienna State Opera house itself, with its elaborate interiors, magnificent chandeliers, and buzzing atmosphere.
The Ballerina's Shopping Spree
Vienna isn't just about music and dance. There's also a shopping paradise tucked away amongst the historic buildings. And when a girl has to visit Vienna, she's simply got to indulge in a shopping spree! Now, I know I mentioned I love my tutus (obviously!), and this city absolutely understands my passion. I found myself in the heart of a wonderful vintage tutu emporium, browsing rows upon rows of magnificent, fluffy tulle beauties in every colour imaginable. The shop itself was pure whimsy, overflowing with tutus and feathers and glittering accessories. And, oh, the stories they could tell, those tutus. Imagine, one could have graced the stage of a 19th-century ballet, and another might have belonged to a famous prima ballerina. I spent an absolute dream-like afternoon amongst the tulle, carefully selecting some treasures I just knew had to join my collection.
(I swear, I felt like I was in a ballet movie!)
Tutu Fashion: A Walk Through Vienna
Okay, I'll admit it: my entire trip has been one big pink-tutu-themed fashion fiesta. My dear friends, this city is so open-minded and charming that it makes rocking a pink tutu in public an absolute delight. I walked past grand fountains and through bustling marketplaces, and even wandered down quaint alleyways, and let me tell you, the only looks I got were ones of friendly smiles and amused stares - which is, quite frankly, my favourite reaction. My dear Derbyshire friends may look at me with a puzzled expression (although I'm working on it!) but Vienna just...accepts you for who you are. I love that!
(Okay, it might have helped that my outfit was paired with a fabulous, vintage pink jacket I discovered in a market stall! It really completed the ensemble.)
Food and Festivities: A Viennese Delights
If I'm being honest, one of the highlights of my Vienna stay (aside from all the ballet, of course!) was discovering a charming cafe near my hotel, and their scrumptious pastry selection was beyond compare! A croissant sprinkled with sugar crystals, a dainty tart with a dollop of cream, a juicy apple strudel... you know I had to indulge, especially after all that dancing.
(I paired my treat with a hot, creamy cappuccino and the soft music wafting from a street performer - just utterly magical! )
Pink-tutu Travels: It's the Little Things
You guys, I can't stress this enough - traveling in a pink tutu, especially in a city as elegant as Vienna, is about more than just wearing a tulle skirt. It's about the conversations you spark, the smiles you create, the little moments of wonder you encounter. From charming street musicians playing Vivaldi under the cobblestone streets to the sheer delight of seeing children run after pigeons in the city park, my Vienna adventure has been one of small, magical details, of seeing beauty in the ordinary, and spreading joy with every twirl.
(Because let's be real, what could be more joyful than a twirl in a pink tutu?)
The Pink Tutu Message
As always, darling tutus, this post is about so much more than just fashion and fun. It's about celebrating what makes each of us unique, about embracing our passion and spreading a little bit of happiness in our everyday lives. Don't let anyone tell you to shy away from your dreams, or to dampen your own personal style. The world needs your pink tutus!
(And honestly, so does Vienna.)
Stay tuned for my next blog, where I'll be sharing some insider tips on how to find your own vintage tutu treasures! Until then, keep twirling and spreading the pink love!
Xoxo, Emma
