Pink Tutu Vienna: Ballet Bliss & Baroque Beauty! (Post #1783)

Hello my darling tutu-loving friends! It's your favourite pink-clad ballerina, Emma, reporting live from the enchanting city of Vienna.

As you all know, I absolutely adore Wednesdays – it’s my chance to share my travel adventures and pink-tastic discoveries with you all! This week, Vienna's got me swooning with its Baroque charm, delectable pastries, and yes, even a pink horse-drawn carriage! (Can you even believe it? A pink horse-drawn carriage?!). It truly is the city of dreams.

I’ve just got back from another glorious day of ballet exploration. Today's adventure began with a Viennese waltz lesson at the most delightful dance studio nestled within a beautiful old courtyard. The instructors were divine and they taught me the true Viennese waltz, all graceful, elegant steps and swishing skirts, très chic! After the waltz, we danced a few other numbers that were pure magic.

Of course, I had to show off my latest tutu creation – a soft peach tulle creation that danced beautifully with every pirouette. It was positively delightful to watch its delicate layers swish and twirl with the movements.

Speaking of beautiful twirls, the main highlight of my Viennese day was the most captivating performance by the Vienna State Opera. Imagine the sheer opulence of the theatre, the incredible acoustics, and the vibrant, dazzling costumes – I felt like I had stepped into a living fairytale. The choreography was breathtaking and the story unfolded with a heart-stopping intensity. I absolutely fell in love with the elegance of ballet in its traditional form, especially how it reflected the Viennese history.

Speaking of Vienna, did you know it has the most beautiful museums, overflowing with artistic treasures? I simply adore browsing through the Museum of Art History, soaking in the grandeur and beauty of ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian statues, all nestled amongst masterpieces from Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt and Michelangelo. (Don't even get me started on their breathtaking fashion exhibit... just a pink dream with all those extravagant silk and satin gowns).

Before my whirlwind day of artistic adventure concluded, I ventured into Vienna’s charming old town for some much-needed indulgent treat in the form of Apfelstrudel and Sachertorte. Honestly, you've not truly lived until you've sampled those divine Austrian delicacies!

I also spent a sweet afternoon in a local antique shop and picked up a beautiful pink porcelain ballet figurine that will have pride of place on my shelf back in Derbyshire. (Maybe I'll wear my pink tutu when I unpack her!)

As evening settled upon the city, I boarded a magnificent horse-drawn carriage in the most adorable shade of pink – a charming throwback to a bygone era. It felt absolutely magical, trotting through the cobblestone streets lined with fairy-lit trees. My heart skipped a beat as we passed St. Stephen's Cathedral and the grand Vienna Opera House, each bathed in a soft pink glow of twilight.

There's nothing more magical than the soft glow of twilight casting a warm pink hue upon the grand architecture of Vienna, especially with a gorgeous waltz playing softly in the background. It truly was a day to remember and a perfect start to a weekend in this breathtakingly beautiful city.

Vienna has truly captivated me! Between the delicious pastries, grand architecture, elegant performances, and even that magical pink carriage ride, I truly feel like a ballerina in a living fairy tale (or maybe more aptly a fairytale that dances in a living city!).

Now, you may be wondering about the tutu aspect of my travels! Well, my darling tutu enthusiasts, let me assure you, I’ve never left home without my trusty tutu.

Each of my travels allows me to indulge my creativity, experimenting with different shades, styles and textures – there’s always a brand new tutu for each exciting destination. Here in Vienna, the inspiration has been absolutely wild - imagine bold colours, dramatic embellishments, and even a touch of that classic Austrian floral charm, all mixed and matched into a collection of pink-tastic tutu masterpieces! I can’t wait to show you them all when I’m back in Derbyshire!

Well, my lovelies, it’s time for me to head off to another magnificent performance. But remember, even when I’m dancing in the grand ballrooms of Europe, my pink tutu stays true to its mission - encouraging everyone to twirl in their own unique and colourful way!

Stay tuned next week for my exciting tales from Budapest!

Love and Twirls,

Emma,

The Pink Tutu Ballerina
