Hello, my darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, back from a whirlwind of a week in Vienna! Oh, the magic! The charm! The history! It's truly a city that sets your heart aflutter, just like a perfectly pirouette. I felt like I was walking straight into a Strauss waltz, and, to top it all off, my beautiful pink tutu and I were perfectly in sync. This week, my journey started in Derbyshire, with a train ride so picturesque, it was almost as pretty as my tulle!
From Derbyshire to ViennaThere’s nothing quite like boarding a train from the charming countryside of Derbyshire. I was adorned, of course, in my go-to travelling outfit – a pastel pink polka dot dress, a delicate ivory cardigan and, of course, the ever-present pink tutu – all ready for my Vienna adventures! The journey, while long, was punctuated by laughter with fellow passengers, mesmerising landscapes and, a bit of a treat, an impromptu ballet performance right there in my train carriage! You wouldn’t believe it – some children had brought along their dancing shoes and were twirling and pirouetting, spreading the joy of ballet far and wide. A delightful moment!
The Waltz of ViennaI’ve always dreamed of visiting Vienna, the city synonymous with classical music, and a veritable ballet haven. Arriving at the Hauptbahnhof was like stepping onto a grand stage. The grandeur, the elegant architecture, and the lively atmosphere truly captured the spirit of Viennese waltzes! As I walked the cobblestone streets, my tulle swishing playfully around my legs, it felt like a waltz, and every shop window held the promise of a new adventure.
The State Opera - A Ballet Lover's Dream!I wouldn’t have come to Vienna without indulging in the magnificence of the Vienna State Opera House, and this week's performance was truly an experience for the senses! "Giselle", a classic story of betrayal and love, played out in such emotional and technical brilliance, it moved my very soul! The music, the choreography, and the exquisite costumes - each aspect was a tribute to the magic of ballet. This evening, I was not merely a ballet lover, I was a spectator to perfection. It was as if a part of my soul had been awoken.
Vienna's Royal Riding SchoolWhat would a visit to Vienna be without witnessing the beauty of the Spanish Riding School? I, along with a throng of tourists, gazed in wonder as these magnificent Lipizzaner stallions performed their grace-filled movements with a skill that takes decades to perfect. Watching these elegant creatures, dancing like their riders were waltzing partners, it’s a ballet in itself!
The Tutu Inspiration: Vienna EditionVienna has an undeniable sense of history and tradition woven into the very fabric of its existence. This love of tradition extends even to tutus! I fell in love with the elegant tulle and delicate details of the costumes worn by ballet dancers through the ages. From the romantic styles of the 19th century to the modern, the graceful swish of a tutu continues to inspire artists, and it’s a passion I share with my readers and the entire world! I just love a well-designed tutu! If there’s a way to capture history’s essence through fabric, I’ve got to see it!
Tutu Boutique and Ballet History! My time in Vienna would be incomplete without a trip to a ballet shop! Oh my, what a discovery! The Boutique was like a portal to a wonderland of all things ballet - everything from classic dance shoes to sparkling accessories and the most exquisite tutus, both new and vintage! I even had the chance to learn more about tutu history! A perfect tutu-loving afternoon, filled with inspiration.
Shopping Spree - A Dress-Worthy DelightsNow, let’s talk about fashion! It’s impossible to resist the alluring world of Viennese fashion. I indulged in a glorious shopping spree in Vienna's vintage shops. From the vintage frocks in elegant hues of rose and pearl, to a breathtaking pearl-encrusted tiara – I snagged the most charming items for my collection! Fashion in Vienna is simply sublime - it reflects the city's history and passion for art with exquisite detail and an unwavering sense of style.
Dining Like a Queen - Viennese Cuisine and TreatsNow, you simply cannot visit Vienna without a culinary adventure, can you? I spent my afternoons delighting in Viennese cuisine! I am absolutely mad for the delicious coffee culture, especially a strong cappuccino with a viennaerschnitzel or a strudel, but the most indulgent treats for me are definitely the schokoladenkuchen and sachertorte with whipped cream - an indulgence worthy of a queen!
A Week to Remember - And the Tutu ReturnsFrom ballet to history to fashion to delicious delights, my time in Vienna has been a whirlwind of beautiful memories. I already miss the vibrant energy of this remarkable city, the captivating stories of Vienna, and of course, its undeniable charm. And what else do I miss? Why, my new tutu! The pink tulle and exquisite sequins will have to wait for me back home.
For now, the stage is set for my next adventure - back to the world of performing and spreading the love for ballet, and of course, for tutus!
Until next week, darling readers, remember to dance, wear pink, and be unapologetically fabulous. Until then, stay stylish!
Your favourite ballerina, Emma.
See you next week!
