March 2007: A Tutu Tale of Drag, Dancing, and Dreams!

Hello, darlings! Your favourite pink-tutu-clad, time-travelling drag queen is back, ready to spill the tea on the magical month that was March 2007! Now, before we get to the delicious drama and the fabulous fashions, I just have to say, "March is the month for tutus, dearies! Just like a blooming rose, they bring joy and grace to any occasion!" (Oh, I'm positively overflowing with poetic inspiration today! Fancy a spot of Earl Grey?)

Right, on with the show!

This time I found myself swept away by the whirlwinds of time and landed in the gloriously glittery year of 2007. Imagine! The Spice Girls were practically dinosaurs, Britney Spears was shaking it off in the "Gimme More" video, and "The Hills" was gracing our TV screens! Talk about a throwback! And of course, the world of drag was bubbling over with brilliant performers - ready to show the world what it meant to be daring, glamorous, and above all, fabulous!

My magical pink tutu whirled me through the streets of New York, darling. Oh, those amazing performances! I was completely dazzled by the artistry of Bianca Del Rio, who was then, oh darling, a fresh-faced darling of the drag scene! She was shaking things up, putting on spectacular shows in The Stonewall Inn, the very heart of New York's drag scene. The crowd went wild! Imagine, darling, you had Bianca in her glory days!

Next up, darling, was a visit to London town. I simply had to go see the Queen of Westminster, Miss Fame. I’m pretty sure that was the very week she won “Ultimate Drag Queen of Westminster!” You see, darlings, drag history is as much about queens and queens alike. Miss Fame was at the top of her game, with fierce makeup, a killer fashion sense, and magnetic stage presence. The place was alive, and the audience? They were utterly spellbound, just as I was.

I just couldn't let March pass without stopping by the grand, beautiful San Francisco. Here, darlings, I caught the dazzling performance by Lady Bunny, a true legend in the world of drag. The sheer joy and energy she brought to the stage, those brilliant songs! It was truly electrifying! Oh, and I saw the most magnificent costume on Divine (remember those Divine drag shows?! My darlings! ). The costume? Well, darling, you know me - I simply cannot spoil the surprises, you will just have to wait to hear those details!

Right then! That wasn't just a whirlwind of performances - my trusty pink tutu carried me right into the world of fashion, where I could indulge my sartorial delights. My, oh my, you should have seen me strutting around the shops on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It was an absolute delight. A vision in pink! (My tutus just can't resist the California sunshine). And speaking of sunshine, did I mention that I bumped into Chad Michaels in LA? He had this absolutely stunning drag show going on, complete with a glamorous cast. My oh my!

The thing is, dearies, even when time travelling I love supporting local talent! That’s why I made sure to hit up Derbyshire while I was on the time hopping trail, and believe me, my darlings, there was just so much going on, I saw some real stars-in-the-making! You have to admit it is nice to go to your own home city to be inspired, right! We all need inspiration wherever we may be. We may even need it from the smallest town of all!

And what a fabulous time that month was in general! It truly reminded me, dear readers, why I love time-travelling, drag, and everything in between! To be in the company of amazing people who celebrate who they are and embrace creativity is simply the most beautiful experience! We all love a bit of joy and light in our lives, darlings, that is for sure!

But it's not all about big city glitter and high fashion. It’s about the small details, the little things that bring joy to our lives - like finding a perfect new pink feather boa, scoring the perfect shade of lipstick, or even discovering a vintage tutu in a second-hand shop (let me tell you, dear reader, I am obsessed with vintage finds)!

Every day, no matter what year you are in or what decade we find ourselves in, we have the power to sparkle, dearies. And, we should, too. Because there is magic in being true to ourselves and in embracing our inner fabulousness! It doesn't matter whether we’re time-travelling in pink tutus, watching drag shows, or just strutting down the street!

Now, my dear readers, I will let you go, but I must remind you to never lose your own fabulous flare! Do you know what would be fabulous right now? A big, giant, delicious afternoon tea, darling. If you're enjoying this post - you deserve one, that’s what I’m here to say, dear readers! So, please, go on! Grab your best pink tutu (a tutu goes with every outfit), a spot of afternoon tea, and let your inner queen shine through! And don't forget, to look out for our next fabulous adventure next month here on the blog, right here on www.pink-tutu.com!

Until then, may all your sequins be sparkly and your days be filled with drag!
