Post #1128: December 2013 – Twirling Through Time with a Pink Tutu and a Pinch of Magic!

Hello darlings, welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things sparkly and fabulously pink! This month, I'm going all out with my travelogue. You won't believe where my pink tutu has whisked me off to…December 2013! Let's twirl back in time, shall we?

You see, as a self-proclaimed aficionado of all things drag, I just had to delve into the history of our glittering world. December 2013… oh honey this was a time of transformation, of bold new faces, and electrifying energy. The world of drag was positively bursting with talent and I was ready to dive in, head first, pink tutu and all!

A Touch of Drag in the Windy City

First stop on the time travel agenda? Chicago, darling! As any savvy queen knows, Chicago is a city buzzing with drag. This month, RuPaul’s Drag Race was taking over the nation and its iconic Season 6 had just finished its epic finale. Adore Delano had snagged the crown and wow, did she serve it! She was the ultimate quirky queen with a passion for glam-rock and we all knew she was going to slay. It was during this season that we first encountered a little bit of Bianca Del Rio, the soon-to-be Drag Race winner, known for her hilarious shade and flawless makeup skills. Talk about iconic!

An English Rose Blooms in London

But our drag adventures didn’t stop in America. I simply had to whisk my pink tutu across the pond to London town. And what a delight it was! You know me, I can't resist a bit of theatre, and oh my darling, December 2013 saw a drag extravaganza at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern! The legendary London venue was alive with drag royalty, celebrating the fabulous, the daring, and the fierce. It was truly a whirlwind of sparkle and glamour!

A Drag Icon Returns…To a Drag Icon

Meanwhile, back in America, a very special reunion was brewing. Divine, the iconic drag superstar and muse to the one and only John Waters, was the subject of an intimate exhibit at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. Now, I must say, Divine was an absolute icon. A trailblazer who defied boundaries, embraced the bold, and championed drag with every shimmy and sashay! She truly made her mark on the world of drag, and I simply had to pay tribute.

A Feast for the Senses – Drag is on the Menu!

So you see, December 2013 was a month of wonder and beauty in the world of drag. I was utterly captivated by the scene! There was an air of exciting change, with the Drag Race finale taking center stage, London buzzing with energy, and a celebration of Divine’s legacy, the future of drag was undeniably bright.

Back in the Present, Inspired by the Past!

And now, my darlings, back to present day. The whirlwind of my December 2013 journey has sparked my inspiration. My next drag show, ā€œPink Tutu Through Time,ā€ will pay homage to all these incredible events! I'm channeling Adore's playful spirit, embracing the theatrical energy of the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, and incorporating a dash of Divine's bold, and glamorous touch. Oh, I simply cannot wait!

And as always, dear readers, remember the magic of a pink tutu!

Be fabulous,

Emma
