It's a real treat for me this month, darlings, as I'm stepping back in time to June 2017, just after a momentous Drag Race finale! 💖 It was a month filled with the glitter and glam of Drag Race's impact, so let's dive right into the excitement!
*My Journey: *💖🩰✨
After a week spent in 1950s New York, watching the stunning artistry of the drag balls at The Savoy Ballroom (I managed to get my hands on a truly magnificent vintage sequin number at the thrift store, and my god, did it work its magic!), I decided to take a trip back to the land of my roots, darling - London! This time, I needed a new look, and what better way to celebrate June 2017 than with a hot pink and white layered tutu that I simply couldn't resist (it's now my new "go-to" for time travelling). I must say, I am quite the showstopper when it comes to dazzling through the ages in a dazzling pink tutu!
As I shimmied my way through the cobbled streets of London, I had the most incredible journey - I popped into the grand Royal Albert Hall, just in time to catch the breathtaking “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Live Tour” starring the iconic winners of the season nine show! Imagine the sass and pizazz, darling! I was surrounded by fans and fellow drag queens - we were a fabulous, united community buzzing with excitement.
But that's not all! After my backstage encounter with the fabulous Alaska and Thorgy Thor, I jetted off to catch a sensational “Divas Live! 2017” at the beautiful SSE Wembley Arena, where my own inner drag queen, well, shrieked with joy! My darling, the performers were sensational! A spectacular display of talent, glamour, and breathtaking drag fashion. My cheeks hurt from all the smiling I was doing. We need to have these kinds of performances every day, darlings! ✨
The World of Drag in June 2017: 💖
While London buzzed with the post-Drag Race excitement, I saw the rest of the world was engulfed in drag's intoxicating energy! From Australia, with a new season of "RuPaul’s Drag Race Australia" soon on our screens to the incredible Drag Con in New York (a gathering of drag icons, influencers and devoted fans), the community was abuzz! It felt as though the entire world was turning a brilliant, joyful pink in June! 🩰
And of course, we mustn't forget about the incredible "RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars 3," the third instalment of "RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars," which began in the same month. It's a pure explosion of talent and iconic looks. Imagine, a drag race show, with even MORE stunning drag queens - this truly was a golden age for Drag Race fans, and everyone seemed to be in awe of the talents on show. It truly is a testament to how the show continues to inspire, entertain, and embrace drag in all its unique glory! ✨
*Looking Forward: *
June 2017, my darlings, was a month of fabulous fun and undeniable excitement! It feels as though a lot of change was on the horizon, and it was exciting to witness its momentum! ✨ Drag was on a mission, bringing more awareness to the world through the art of its expression, and I can’t wait to see where it will take us.
But darling, here’s the best news! As we step back to June 2017, the world seemed a little less pink. Well, that's about to change! I’ve decided that this blog post must inspire all of us! We all need more pink, darlings! From this very day forward, we're going to flood the world with the infectious power of pink and its most glorious symbol – the TUTU!
This month's call to action is a simple one: I want to see a rainbow of pink tutus dancing across the world! ✨ I want everyone to take a step back into the wonder of tutus. I'm planning to hold some online tutorials - sharing my pink-tutu knowledge, fashion tips, and creative DIY ideas to help you make your own pink tutus. We can't forget the amazing joy that tutus can bring - so get creative! This is a pink tutu revolution! ✨
