Pink-Tutu Post #1177: A Trip Through Time With Emma!

Hiya darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu! I'm your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveller, Emma, back with another journey through the glorious world of drag history!

This month, we're shimmying and twirling back to January 1st, 2018 – a date filled with sparkling excitement and the anticipation of another fabulous year! The year 2018, as you all know, was a major year for drag, and trust me, my darlings, even my magical pink tutu wasn't big enough to fit all the incredible moments that happened!

Let me take you back in time for a spot of afternoon tea and a little chat about how this particular date was shaping up!

Firstly, I have to say, 2018 kicked off with a right bang, literally! It was the year we were introduced to "RuPaul's Drag Race UK"! Can you believe it, darlings? The UK finally got its very own Drag Race, with our amazing queens strutting their stuff, serving up drama and lip syncing their hearts out! Oh, it was a total joy! You could feel the anticipation brewing and everyone was living for it! The iconic moment when RuPaul announced "The UK is ready" sent shivers down everyone's spines.

And talking about exciting happenings in the drag world, Miss Fame (our fashion queen!), who always gives me serious #PinkTutuInspiration with her glamorous looks, had a whole lot going on! Remember "Glamour & Grit" her debut collection for MAC Cosmetics? Well, it had us all swooning with its intricate artistry and gorgeous packaging.

Then, there was the amazing "Dragometry" – Violet Chachki's (she who taught us all how to walk in five-inch heels, darling) amazing, body-positive capsule collection! A true triumph for the art of fashion!

Now, I know what you're thinking... Where did you actually time travel to on this specific date? Well, imagine this, a packed house of glamorous individuals, throbbing music, a shimmering stage, and a fantastic Drag Race finale playing on the giant screen! Yes, darlings, I hopped into my trusty pink tutu and transported myself to The Box! That's where we all celebrated the first UK winner The Vivienne, right there in the heart of London, surrounded by queens and the drag family! What a glorious, glitter-filled occasion!

Honestly, with the vibrant energy of the Drag Race UK season, there was a real buzz in the air! You could feel the excitement bubbling up across the whole of the drag community, ready for another year of fabulousness. That's what makes time travel so thrilling, darlings, seeing history unfolding, the energy of new chapters beginning!

Oh, and while we're talking about 2018, I couldn't forget Bianca del Rio's hilarious Netflix comedy special, "Rolodex of Hate," that sent everyone rolling in laughter, and those who know her will attest, it was a hilariously outrageous way to ring in the new year!

On the global stage, things were equally popping! The ever-iconic "Drag Race Thailand" was gaining its fanbase. In fact, if we could travel back even further to August 29th, 2017 – it was when those queens premiered, bringing fierce and fearless competition to our screens! Remember the unforgettable finale when Pangina Heals, our own pink-haired darling, stole the crown? Well, that was a truly iconic moment in the history of the franchise.

My trip back to 2018 made me appreciate how much the drag world had come together to push boundaries, challenge stereotypes and celebrate diversity. The drag community, truly, is a powerful force.

Well, darlings, I must rush off now, it’s a busy day for your time-traveling Pink Tutu queen!

Remember, everyone deserves to feel empowered and confident. What better way to do it than by rocking a fabulously pink tutu? And trust me, there's a pink tutu for everyone. You’ll find one that sings to your inner drag queen! Just check out www.pink-tutu.com.

And next time we'll be dipping into another historical moment in the magical world of drag. Stay fabulous, stay pink, and don't forget to spread joy and glitter wherever you go!

XOXO,
