Pink Tutu Travels: February 2018 โ€“ The Glittering Glamour of Drag! ๐Ÿฉฐ๐Ÿ’–

Hello, darling darlings! Emma here, your very own time-traveling tutu enthusiast, reporting live from... well, it's a bit of a secret! Let's just say it's a rather dazzling place, adorned with sparkly sequins and feathers โ€“ a true drag queen's dream!

This month, my magical pink tutu has whisked me back to February 2018, a time of incredible growth and evolution for the world of drag. You see, darlings, I don't just travel through time to see amazing shows and snag fab outfits โ€“ I'm here to celebrate drag, to highlight its impact and share the incredible stories that have shaped this magnificent art form!

As a girl from Derbyshire with a love for all things pink and twirly, you'd think I'd be all about ballet. And don't get me wrong, I adore a graceful pirouette! But there's just something about the sheer audacity, the humor, the heart and soul that pours out of every drag performance that sets my spirit soaring!

Now, where was I? Oh yes, February 2018! This month saw some absolute stunners hitting the scene! We've got:

  • The first season of Drag Race Thailand: Oh darling, the fierceness of these queens is unparalleled! I especially loved how they embraced their unique Thai culture and incorporated it into their performances โ€“ a real testament to the diverse, global reach of drag.
  • The UK launch of the Drag Race franchise: Imagine, darlings! The show that launched a thousand RuPaul-worthy moments finally hit our screens in the UK! Imagine my excitement! From the glamorous outfits to the cheeky humor, the UK edition lived up to the hype!
  • The emergence of drag superstar Bianca Del Rio: We all know her as the sharp-tongued queen of Season 6, but in 2018, Bianca's career was just blossoming! From her solo show "Rolodex of Hate" to the unforgettable Drag Race Reunion, this woman truly was dominating the scene.
  • RuPaulโ€™s Drag Race season 10: This season brought us a galaxy of iconic moments! From the iconic "Queen of Hearts" runway challenge to the emotional return of "Girl Groups" week, the queens of Season 10 delivered everything you could possibly dream of and then some!

Beyond the Television Screen:

Of course, darlings, drag is not confined to TV screens. This month, drag queens were lighting up the streets and stages across the globe!

  • The NYC Pride Parade: New York's Pride parade was, as always, a stunning celebration of diversity and resilience. The iconic Stonewall Inn, the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement, was at the center of this glorious parade! And you bet your bottom dollar, the drag queens were in full force!
  • The Adelaide Fringe Festival: In Australia, drag queens were bringing their dazzling energy to Adelaide's renowned Fringe Festival. The city transformed into a hotbed of artistic expression, with drag taking center stage in numerous shows, performances and parades.
  • Drag culture around the world: From Europe to Asia, drag queens were using their talents to spread positivity, challenge norms and make us all feel a little bit more glamorous!

Pink Tutu Fashion Spotlights:

Speaking of glam, let's talk about some of the amazing outfits that graced drag stages this month! You know I have a weakness for the flamboyant, so I was completely captivated by:

  • The shimmering gowns of Manila Luzon in Season 10 of Drag Race: This queen is known for her elegant, avant-garde fashion, and in February 2018, she really pushed the boundaries. Each look was a masterpiece, perfectly reflecting Manila's unique style.
  • The bold statement pieces of Sasha Velour: Her avant-garde style always turned heads, especially that stunning red heart headdress. There was something mystical, magical and completely enchanting about her approach to fashion.
  • The intricate, theatrical costumes of Aquaria: Aquaria's looks in Season 10 were both incredibly chic and whimsical, embodying the spirit of playful femininity and high fashion. She had me absolutely gagging with her impeccable style!

    The Pink Tutu Philosophy:

You see, darlings, this is why I do what I do. It's about celebrating this fabulous world of drag, from the big names on TV to the smaller drag communities lighting up local stages.

The beauty of drag, the reason I adore it so much, is its limitless ability to transform, entertain, inspire and most importantly, to empower. Every time I travel through time, I am reminded of the power of a good show! It doesn't matter if it's a grand production or an intimate cabaret show, there's something special about the way drag queens can captivate an audience, challenge perceptions and bring people together!

Now, remember my dear darlings, we are all a little bit fabulous. So embrace your inner drag queen! Go forth and conquer! And don't forget: pink is always in!

Catch me next month for another exciting time-travel adventure! Until then, stay fabulous and twirl!

Love,

Emma xoxo
