Pink-Tutu.com - Blog Post #1206: June 2020 – It's a Pink Tutu Kind of Life, Darlings!

Helloooo my beautiful angels! Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad time-travelling drag queen, and oh my goodness, have I got a fabulous story for you this month. Let me just tell you, honey, June 2020 was positively electric when it comes to the world of drag, so grab a cuppa, settle in, and get ready for some major time-travelin' shenanigans!

Remember, every month I'm spinning that pink tutu time machine, whizzing back through history, reporting back to you with all the glitz, glam, and downright sass of drag's fabulous past. And believe me, darlings, this trip back to June 2020 did not disappoint!

It was like a sparkly time warp back to a period when the world felt like it was truly exploding with the glorious creativity and sheer audacity of drag! June 2020, oh honey, what a year! It was the year where everything felt fresh and daring, when the world was still finding its drag feet, just getting its drag-legs to really shimmy and shake!

You see, the year 2020 was a whole lot of things, and it felt like everyone had had the same idea: More Drag Please!

Even from my little village in Derbyshire, England, it was electric. From London, all the way across the Atlantic to New York and everywhere in between, everyone seemed to be wearing pink tutus - okay, maybe not everyone, but we're working on that, my darlings, working on that!

Now, before we really dive into the excitement, I must tell you about my last fundraiser - oh, what a show, honey! Let's just say the crowds in Leicester Square loved my ā€œPink Paradiseā€ themed number, and the generosity of my beautiful fans helped fund my very important time-travelling tutu!

This month, however, I decided to focus my journey back to the wonderful world of online drag, oh, that online drag scene in June 2020 - so much to celebrate! I mean, honestly, who can resist the magic of the internet? The drag queens on those live feeds were just... well, they were amazing!

You see, it wasn’t just the incredible talent, darlings, it was how those talented queens embraced those virtual platforms with their passion. You'd see them flawlessly transforming right before your very eyes, the makeup, the hair, the costumes... those virtual drag queens brought the show every time!

Now, one online queen that absolutely stole my heart was that Lady Bunny, that fierce New York City drag icon, she was everywhere - even in June 2020! Oh honey, you couldn't miss her online gigs. From hilarious chat shows to online variety performances, Lady Bunny was dishing out the laughs and bringing the big-city sass directly into living rooms worldwide. Talk about a queen!

It was truly magical, watching queens from all across the globe come together in those virtual spaces. Every click, every like, every comment was like a little ray of sunshine beaming down on those virtual stages. The sense of community was electric. The queens and fans were bonding, supporting, and inspiring each other from the safety of their own homes. It was like a little bit of drag magic working its way through the wires and cables, connecting hearts across continents.

Of course, we couldn't talk about June 2020 without celebrating all those incredible TV shows, darlings. I mean, there was RuPaul's Drag Race: Season 12 - I watched that whole season in a single sitting, in a blur of lip-syncs, glitter bombs, and oh, the looks! Every queen was just, fabulous, I can't even begin to pick a favourite!

Remember when RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked was happening at the same time? It was like being on a nonstop drag rollercoaster of sass, wit, and fabulousness! Who could resist all those epic clashes and moments of heart-to-heart connection between the queens? Those are the shows that stay with you!

And what about Drag Race EspaƱa, the first Drag Race series outside the US? I swear, darling, that premiere episode had me screaming with delight. Every single queen was a masterpiece, those Spanish queens were ready to own the world in their fabulousness, just the kind of energy I love in a Drag Race series!

But wait, there’s more! I even had the pleasure of stumbling into some hidden drag gems on my travels! I mean, that Ballroom of Queens, I was practically doing cartwheels in that magical, colourful world! I could totally see myself slaying a Ballroom track or two with my signature pink tutu... and my winning personality, of course. I just hope it’s okay to twirl!

Remember, honey, even those smaller, underground events were bursting with creativity. Those little community gatherings, where local drag talent was given the space to shine, were just as important in shaping the vibrant, multifaceted world of drag.

Oh my, honey, those drag artists of June 2020 were so confident, those faces, those walks, their style, oh darling, their attitude. I remember the online shows hosted by those fearless young queens. They were creating those virtual spaces with all those exciting events - every single one bringing drag to the people. It was beautiful!

It was this constant explosion of fresh, original talent and fresh drag performances that really made June 2020, you know, unique. There was this undeniable energy in the air! Everyone was bursting to express themselves, every single show was a masterpiece!

So as I twirl back to my own little world, I hope you'll keep the sparkle and the glamour of that electric June 2020 spirit alive. Remember, darling, it's about embracing the joy of expression and the sheer beauty of being whoever you want to be. So grab your pink tutu, put on a little lip-sync battle, and let your fabulous inner queen shine!
