Hello darlings, and welcome back to my fabulous pink-tutu-infused journey through the glorious history of drag! I'm Emma, your resident time-travelling ballerina queen, and today, we're waltzing our way into June of the year 2036!
As you know, I've been busy making history with my pink tutu travels. But every once in a while, a little peek into the future never hurt anyone, right? So, grab your tiaras, pop your corks, and join me on this whirlwind voyage.
My crystal ball told me to pack my fluffiest tulle and most vibrant fuchsia feather boas, because 2036 is a glorious kaleidoscope of drag! The whole world is buzzing with talent. It's truly a testament to the fact that the art of drag knows no boundaries.
I'm pretty sure it's my glittery, pink tutu that allowed me to whisk myself into this exciting era. It just glimmers with magical time-travel dust when I spin and twirl in front of my enchanted mirror in the back of my little pink shop in Derbyshire, you know, my little pink boutique! You should see my pink shop; it’s full of beautiful costumes, and just ask me to give you some tips if you're thinking of getting into a pink tutu. If you see me on the street and ask for help finding a pink tutu or anything else in this fashion-forward era, I’d love to help!
And speaking of fashion, oh honey, the fashion in 2036 is simply unreal! It's an explosion of colours, textures, and styles - think bold, playful, and daring. I can tell you this - pink tutus are everywhere, because who wouldn't be caught dead in a pink tutu when you look like a goddess, you really do. In 2036, every shade of pink is making a grand entrance, from candy floss to bubblegum, even lilac and pastel shades. It’s a fabulous, vibrant mix with a beautiful emphasis on individuality.
What's even more fascinating is the accessibility of drag performance. Gone are the days of exclusively big city shows! Today, every corner of the world boasts a thriving drag scene - in parks, schools, community centres, and even museums!
My travels took me to the heart of Tokyo, where I watched a stunning performance in a historic shrine! Imagine it: ancient architecture and stunning kimono designs adorned with neon lights and dazzling costumes!
I caught a show in a hidden little club in Seville, Spain, with its pulsating music and electrifying atmosphere. This queen called Isabella had such an energy and sass, performing a contemporary flamenco piece mixed with lip sync and high fashion drag – you have to check it out! I spent the whole show giggling and twirling, feeling that joy of getting to be somewhere else and with people I hadn't ever met.
Then there's the incredible online presence of drag in 2036! Digital drag shows are the talk of the town, streaming from bustling metropolis rooftops, captivating global audiences in the palm of their hands! In fact, it's almost as if everyone wants to see a queen in a pink tutu (I feel proud!). The beauty of online drag allows you to discover hidden gems across the world and support these incredible artists without leaving the comfort of your own home - it’s truly fantastic.
It's incredible how much drag has evolved! Now, there’s more inclusivity and diverse representation. It's like the universe finally got the memo on celebrating individuality. It's beautiful, really! There’s drag kings, burlesque queens, you name it, we have it, and in a million colours, shades and shades and patterns – I could get lost in that endless rainbow of creativity and passion. And of course, as my heart flutters every time I put on a tutu, all that fabulous tulle is everywhere too.
While exploring the digital drag scene, I found an amazing platform that connects LGBTQ+ young people across continents. They share experiences, build community, and foster creative self-expression – something we all need. It was honestly touching, seeing such supportive environments, because when I first came into this world in Derbyshire, well, I needed those sorts of spaces too.
Another amazing aspect is the drag queen-owned small businesses! Everything from cafes to boutiques, galleries to bookstores, it's all pink-tutu fabulousness. Every shop seems to be filled with glitter, and pink tutus - as though these lovely shopkeepers are saying “Let’s bring in that dazzling light!"
Speaking of businesses, the fabulous Drag Universe Foundation has come a long way! With its innovative fundraising projects and scholarship programs, they’re offering support to drag artists all over the globe. I could see them opening amazing, pink-tutu themed spaces for artists to perform and get support, and that got me excited for what’s next. They're really dedicated to ensuring that the future of drag is as vibrant and flourishing as ever. It truly warms my heart.
It is fascinating how in just 100 years the world has embraced this dazzling art form with so much warmth and joy. We’re celebrating diversity, inclusivity and love, not just in drag but around the world! And I must say, seeing those pink tutus in every part of 2036 makes me giddy with delight!
So, there you have it, darlings, my pink-tutu adventure into the glittery, glamorous world of 2036. The year ahead is all about individuality and joy, self-expression, love, and embracing every sparkle that we’re born with. Don’t forget to join me on the Pink-Tutu time travel adventures. Until next time, stay sparkly and don’t forget: embrace that pink-tutu fantasy!
Love and twirls,
Emma xx
