Hello darlings! Emma here, back with another edition of my #DragQueenHistory adventures! π As always, grab a cuppa and settle in, because this one's a right ol' barnstorm! πͺ
This month, I'm taking you on a journey to the glistening, glamorous year 2040! It's time to ditch those boring, old time travel chronometers because today, darling, we're embarking on a fabulous voyage through the time stream, wearing my brand-spanking new, electric pink, time-travelling tutu! π€© It's shimmery, it's sparkling, it's got pockets galore for all my lip gloss and... wait for it... it actually turns me into a literal human-tutu-shaped-rocket! β¨π€―
Let's rewind back to the month of June 2040...
Firstly, darling, this whole year was bursting with drag excitement, especially around Pride! We're talking parades, balls, and a whole lot of sequinned, feathered fun all across the globe! π Everywhere I went, I saw dazzling queens sporting fierce looks and even fiercer personalities, serving sickening performances on stages from London to LA, Sydney to Seoul! π And, naturally, every last one of them looked absolutely divine in my favourite shade of pink. β¨π
Right, let's talk about the month of June itself, because there's plenty to unpack! π
June 2040 - Drag Queen Spotlight:
Drag Icon 'The Phoenix' released their autobiography "The Feather and The Flame" which became an instant bestseller. The book takes us through their remarkable life and journey through the world of drag - from early beginnings in the drag balls of New York to global superstar! The bookβs tagline, "They rose from the ashes and burned brighter than ever before!" was definitely truthful! π₯π₯
Global Drag Challenge: A massive competition, bigger than Eurovision! Queens from all corners of the world strutted, sashayed and shimmied, battling it out for the title of "Ultimate Drag Queen". It was hosted in Dubai this year! The finale was an explosion of creativity, fabulous costumes and high drama. Talk about your lip sync for your life! πππ€
Drag and Disability: "Making Our Mark" Campaign launched by the UKβs Disabled Drag Collective. It was aimed at bringing greater visibility and accessibility for disabled drag artists. They were aiming to build a stage for diverse, talented performers and empower disabled artists in all areas of the drag scene. This campaign was inspiring - true activism in the realm of drag. ππ
My Own June Adventures in 2040:
June 2040 found me jet-setting from the sizzling streets of Sydney to the dazzling lights of Las Vegas! Letβs just say it was pure drag-tastic chaos! ππ₯³
First, I landed in Sydney for Mardi Gras and it was straight up, s-c-e-n-e. There was a sea of pink and rainbow, drag queens galore, a glimmering skyline and everyone was throwing the biggest and most sparkly glitter bombs! π₯ You could say I embraced the whole "bejeweled and boozy" spirit! ππ₯ I caught the biggest Drag Extravaganza on stage at "The Palace" featuring iconic Aussie queens like "Candy Floss" and "Faux Paws"! π I even got to meet the legend herself - "Queen Diva" whoβs still reigning supreme, by the way! π
Then it was off to Vegas, baby! I got my feathers, sequins and sparkle on at The Wynn, for the "Vegas Drag Showdown". This show is basically drag perfection! I mean, talk about camp - itβs legendary! π€© Everything from death-dropping performances to hilarious, raucous comedy. It was sheer, glorious, chaotic entertainment! π I was a proper drag enthusiast, right in my element!
My most fabulous memory of 2040? This was the year my very own line of time-travelling pink tutus, βThe Tutus that Time Travelβ officially launched! π Yes, darling! The entire planet was wearing pink, from Derby to Dubai! My pink tutu mission was finally coming true! β¨π My little pink heart exploded!
Just a few words before I send you off, babes! It's time to remember that #DragQueenHistory isn't just about remembering the past, itβs also about the present and future. It's about celebrating diversity, embracing uniqueness, and creating space for all of us to be whoever we choose to be!π
So, I implore you, dear reader, *be fierce, be bold, and above all, be kind to yourself and your fellow drag sisters and brothers! π π½ππΊ
