Hello darlings! Emma here, back with another fabulous voyage through time! This month, we're taking a trip to the year 2060, a whopping 38 years into the future! Oh my goodness, think of all the glamorous things that will have happened by then!
But first, letās talk about tutus, shall we? As you all know, a tutu is an essential part of any fabulous ensemble. And for our travels this month, I've whipped up a pink number with some sparkly silver accents - because even time travel deserves a little bit of sparkle, donāt you think?
Now, on with our time travel journey!
This month, weāre going to December 2060!
It was such a delight to see the future of drag in 2060! It was such a wonderful experience to get a glimpse of what our future world looks like for drag and I felt very, very welcomed in 2060 - you really canāt beat travelling to the future. My, how far drag has come in those years. I mean, just imagine!
Right then, where should I even begin to describe 2060? It's truly the future of fashion! Every street I wandered down was a kaleidoscope of color, pattern, and sparkle. Everywhere you looked, people were dressed to the nines - I felt quite the normalised individual as the most daring outfits are still relatively mainstream, which is super exciting, even for an old-school gal like me.
Speaking of outfits, imagine this: holographic tutus! Like a real life version of one of those shimmery Christmas baubles but made of fabric! Imagine that, darlings, imagine! And what about drag shows? Theyāre taking place on virtual platforms, immersive reality theatres, and even entire digital cities dedicated solely to drag performances. Now thatās my kind of future! The world truly has moved on.
I did try a couple of virtual drag shows during my travels and the special effects were next level - the sheer talent was awe-inspiring! We had a holographic house drag show which featured holographic performers who interacted with their audiences. Oh my goodness! So real! And if I was really struggling to make my mind up about what to wear for my virtual performances - the digital drag queens gave me suggestions of everything. A great help.
Then there were immersive, holographic shows with dragons that breathe glitter, floating platforms for acrobatic feats, and costumes that glowed in the dark. What I would give to get that for a few minutes, oh honey, it was quite the show.
I did a little online research to discover the top names in 2060's drag, and there was an incredibly talented group of drag queens on a special holographic platform in what they described as ādrag spaceā. Imagine that, the ability to drag in the cosmos, I simply donāt have the words to explain!
I even took the plunge and virtually transformed myself into a pink hologram tutu queen on stage and gave a few drag routines - which turned into a lot! I was surprised just how easily I could jump onto this particular drag platform.
These drag shows in 2060 took my breath away. It wasnāt all drag space, thankfully, I managed to visit a theatre called āThe Glamorous Globeā - they called it āThe Glamorous Globeā for a reason. Everything about the theatre screamed glamour - think vintage vibes, modern day comfort and a beautiful, dazzling pink-themed auditorium - if you have the ability, my darlings, get your time traveling selves over to 2060 - I recommend you see a drag show while youāre there - thereās even an after-party afterwards. The party lasted well into the morning and had such lovely futuristic cocktails which shimmered like my tutu and changed colour in the dark - how is that even possible?!
Of course, drag isn't just about performances. I love it, but the whole community is incredible too. There was a Drag Ball at this absolutely magical nightclub, and as always the community spirit in 2060 is as alive as it was back in my own era. As we were enjoying a drink - there were these wonderful robots that helped make us our drinks with great expertise and efficiency - in 2060 we had a fully robot drag show bar! You have to see it to believe it.
Overall, the future of drag looks absolutely phenomenal! Drag queens, with the help of new technology and their creativity are using everything imaginable to bring their performances to the masses. I cannot wait for a time when all drag can go holographic and even digital, although I have to say that the physical stage will never lose its special quality, but for a futuristic thrill you canāt beat it - you can travel and be at the show all in a few minutes.
