Pink Tutu Time Travel Blog Post #4211 - 11th November 2011: Ballet Brilliance Across the Globe!

Oh, darling dears, you wouldn't believe the whirlwind of ballet adventures I've been having this month! It's been absolutely bonkers, simply positively bonkers! As you know, November always brings a certain… je ne sais quoi… a spark of excitement for us ballet lovers, and this year was no exception. It's almost like the entire world got together and decided to throw a giant, glamorous ballet bash!

And of course, no bash is complete without the lovely, darling Magic Meg, my magnificent pink shire horse with the golden hooves and that glorious white mane and tail! Just as I was hopping into my saddle, all set for another time-traveling escapade, I couldn't help but notice the date - 11th November! How exciting, the very same day I embarked on my journey into the past, two years ago, right here on my blog. I simply couldn't resist going back to see what ballet wonders awaited me on this exact date in 2011!

I have to confess, I was completely captivated by the amazing range of ballet brilliance unfolding all around the globe on this date! Let me share some of the extraordinary moments I witnessed…

London: The Royal Ballet's Enchanted World

My first stop was, naturally, the vibrant, wonderful London! There, at the glorious Royal Opera House, the Royal Ballet was showcasing their dazzling production of Giselle. You know I just can't resist a good Giselle – the ethereal, romantic story, the heart-wrenching emotions… it just makes my ballerina heart melt! The dancing, it was absolutely phenomenal. They had the world renowned Marianela Núñez, oh she's a truly remarkable ballerina! I can still see her effortlessly gliding across the stage, every step so graceful, every expression so poignant! My darling, she's an absolute marvel, pure perfection.

The Bolshoi Ballet: Back in Russia with a Bang!

Next, I hopped onto Magic Meg, off we went whizzing back through time, and landed smack bang in the middle of Moscow! The Bolshoi Theatre was a sight to behold – that grand facade, the magnificent interior… it's a truly breathtaking building, all opulence and majesty! The Bolshoi Ballet, renowned for their technical prowess and artistry, was performing their signature production of Swan Lake. Oh, my dears, those swans, simply divine! I was spellbound! Every movement, every flutter of their wings, was breathtakingly graceful. The beauty and the sorrow intertwined, such pure artistry! I nearly shed a tear…

Across the Atlantic: Ballet Beyond Compare

The magic of ballet truly knows no boundaries! A hop on Magic Meg and a magical time travel later, and we landed in New York, a city that never sleeps and is overflowing with passion for the arts. And wouldn’t you know it? The New York City Ballet were hosting a premiere of The Times Are Racing, a world premiere by Justin Peck! This new production explores themes of life, energy, and of course, a love for movement! It was pure artistic expression - the movements were visually striking and the narrative was both fascinating and thought-provoking. It was pure New York magic!

My Little Corner of Derbyshire: Ballet in My Backyard

Of course, I couldn't leave my beautiful Derbyshire behind! While my journey took me across the globe, it was lovely to return to my little piece of ballet heaven. You know I've been championing the local ballet classes at Derbyshire Arts Centre. Every Saturday they have beginner classes for anyone, yes, ANYONE! It doesn't matter how old you are, you don't need any experience. This class is open to all! I adore going, they really make an effort to give everyone an amazing experience - learning the art of ballet in a comfortable and welcoming setting! And who knows, darling, maybe this is where the next world-class dancer will emerge? It all starts with one step!

My Fashion Findings:

My darling dears, what would a pink tutu blog be without a little foray into the wonderful world of ballet fashion? Well, 2011 had me absolutely spoilt for choice! While I was galavanting through time, I snagged some exquisite pieces for my rucksack!

There was this delightful blush pink tulle skirt, perfect for a whimsical pirouette. It's absolutely exquisite, the way it shimmers in the light! I even found a stunning ballet-inspired jewelry set, all delicate crystals and dainty bows, just perfect for my evening outings to the ballet. And speaking of ballet outfits, I spotted a darling pair of blush pink ballet flats. So comfortable, so stylish. My dear dears, they truly epitomize elegance!
