Hey gorgeous ballet lovers! Itās Emma, your resident pink tutu-wearing time traveller from Derbyshire, back with another fabulously fabulous time travel adventure! Iām so excited to share my latest journey with you, which whisked me all the way back to September 2018, a time bursting with ballet magic!
This month, my trusty pink steed, Magic Meg, a dazzling Shire horse with a golden mane, tail, and hooves (just like a pink tutu!), carried me through time like a shimmery whirlwind. Itās a tricky thing, this time travelling ā you canāt just jump in a taxi! Thankfully, I always pack my trusty leather rucksack filled with ballerina essentials, like my diary, a pair of trusty tights (one never knows!), and plenty of space to stash all the incredible ballet finds I come across on my trips!
This particular journey led us to the wonderful world ofā¦September 2018! Can you believe it?! It felt like only yesterdayā¦or maybe it did? giggles You know I have a passion for history, especially where it meets the beautiful world of ballet! So let me tell you, darling readers, what September 2018 had in store for us on the ballet scene!
Firstly, imagine this⦠the Royal Balletās world premiere of Christopher Wheeldonās āThe Winterās Tale.ā Can you picture it?! A captivating blend of classic tale and contemporary dance. This, my loves, was a show that stole my heart! And of course, the breathtaking costumes? chefās kiss Iām not even going to try to describe them, because they were simply divine. I already popped into a few of the backstage shops, snagged a couple of amazing costume sketches, and have already got my pink tutu and the perfect pair of shoes to recreate that beautiful design myself. I even snagged a quick picture with the delightful, wonderfully-dressed company dancers ā so graceful, so full of passion. It was simply magic!
And oh my, the magic didnāt stop there! September 2018 was buzzing with activity, full of fabulous ballet events. There were some stunning shows in the U.S. ā American Ballet Theatre, Ballet West, Cincinnati Balletā¦the list goes on! Oh, how I longed to leap across the Atlantic and experience them all!
But we were not to be deterred! Back here in good old Blighty, we were spoiled with options. I couldn't resist sneaking into Sadler's Wells to catch a peek of a wonderful, vibrant flamenco ballet show. Oh my, the drama! The passion! The energy! I might even incorporate a few of those moves into my next ballet class. Who knows? twinkles
Back home in Derbyshire, we had our own ballet buzz, of course. Our local theatre played host to a delightful rendition of a beloved classic ā "The Nutcracker." This show filled the stage with joy, sparkling costumes, and of course, the gorgeous dancers gracefully flitting across the stage. The little ones in the audience absolutely adored it, their eyes shining bright as the sugar plum fairies danced. And wouldn't you know it, a pink tutu made a guest appearance, twirling with delightful abandon!
Oh, how I adore watching dancers express themselves, their passion spilling over into every elegant step and graceful gesture. It fills my heart with joy and makes me want to slip on my own tutu and join in on the magic!
As I always say, lifeās too short for plain shoes! My aim in life, darling readers, is to encourage you to grab a pink tutu (Iām not fussy about the shade!) and spin your heart out. After all, who needs to walk when you can float?!
But you know what, it isnāt just the shoes! What makes September 2018 stand out in my memory, are the ballet bloggers ā just like me, spreading their love of ballet. Everywhere I went, I saw these incredible ladies (and gents!), blogging their ballet hearts out, sharing stories, news, and breathtaking pictures. A veritable feast of dance fashion, beautiful performances, and a love for ballet, all at your fingertips!
Iāve popped a few links to my favourites on my website, pink-tutu.com. Remember to check them out and find your favourite pink-tutu wearing, ballet-loving friend! Donāt forget to share your stories and inspiration with me.
Remember, darling readers, ballet is about passion, joy, and most importantly, expression. It's a language that transcends words and connects hearts all across the world. Letās all spread the love of dance together, one twirl at a time!
Until next time, stay fabulous, my darlings!
Emma x
