Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #146: A Whirlwind Friday in London!

Friday, 18th June, 1999

Darling readers,

How do you do? I'm thrilled to be back with you for another fabulous Friday installment of my London adventures! Today's been an absolute whirlwind, packed with more excitement and colour than a tutu-clad symphony!

I hopped on the train this morning from my cosy Derbyshire cottage, my suitcase stuffed to the brim with my most fabulous pink outfits. It seems the good Lord Himself planned a sunny day for my London visit, just so my pink would shine even brighter. Let's be honest, I look my absolute best when there's sunshine on my tutu!

Speaking of my tutus, the train journey was quite the spectacle. The other passengers seemed a bit confused at first, but when I flashed them a smile and did a little pirouette in the aisle, everyone was grinning from ear to ear. They just didn't know how to handle a pink tutu goddess! It's just so much fun to see the reactions - it reminds me why I live for this life!

I must confess, my excitement was pretty much at a fever pitch when I arrived at King's Cross Station. This was no ordinary London trip - this was a special treat. A treat for my soul, and my ballet-obsessed heart!

The Show Must Go On!

Tonight's show at the Royal Opera House was The Nutcracker. There's just something magical about the Royal Opera House - it feels like a dreamland. The stage lights shimmer, the costumes are glorious, and the music fills every corner with magic.

Oh, darling! There's nothing like the power of a live performance. The grace and skill of the dancers, the symphony's incredible music, and the sheer passion radiating from the stage just sweeps me away. My emotions were like a full-length tulle skirt twirling around me, and my tears fell at the most beautiful moments. Honestly, you couldn't ask for a better evening! It was worth every train journey and every penny I earned from my ballet performances. (It's tough but rewarding work, but I'm so grateful to dance and bring a bit of joy to people's lives! And trust me, it's certainly not for the faint of heart.)

Speaking of earning my keep, I recently secured a lovely gig as a ballet teacher at the local village hall. Teaching those little angels (and their often slightly bewildered parents!) is such a pleasure. And hey, maybe one day we'll see them take to the stage at the Royal Opera House too, who knows!

The Pinkest of Pink Shopping Spree!

But of course, my London adventure wasn't all about the ballet. Oh, no! Any true pink-loving fashionista knows the importance of a shopping spree. And London? Well, London is heaven for a girl who loves clothes as much as I do!

I started at Liberty. I absolutely adore the gorgeous fabric and their attention to detail. Every piece feels like a tiny masterpiece. I found the most gorgeous floral pink silk scarf – I knew instantly it would become a new signature piece. It practically danced off the shelf, whispering "take me home, darling, take me home!" I just couldn't resist!

Then it was off to a vintage haven called Beyond Retro, which was chock-full of treasures from decades past. After carefully rummaging through rails upon rails of fabulousness, I finally found a vintage pink tweed coat that practically screamed my name. This, my dears, was a rare and special find – a little piece of fashion history to add to my already massive wardrobe!

And naturally, a trip to London wouldn't be complete without a stop at Harrods. It's the granddaddy of London department stores. But honestly, this is just an excuse to indulge in their gorgeous food halls! I'm telling you, I'm not sure what is more fabulous – the chocolates or the tutti frutti ice cream! You should have seen me, whirling around in my pink tutu and devouring those sugary delights with complete glee. I can honestly say I do deserve a treat now and again, don't you think? It's all part of being a fashionable ballet goddess!

Dinner for One (and One Tutu)!

My stomach was full, my heart was full, my shopping bags were full – and I was still buzzing from the excitement of the evening! What better way to end the day than with a delicious solo dinner in the heart of London?

I picked a quaint little restaurant nestled in a small street, full of charm and romance. You know how much I love those intimate spots! It felt perfect for a solitary reflection on the day's events – but let's be real, I was too busy dreaming about the perfect outfits to wear next week for my ballet performances.

A quick glass of chilled rose wine, followed by a plate of perfectly roasted chicken and creamy mashed potatoes – pure happiness. You wouldn't believe how many people stopped to compliment me on my pink tutu while I dined! It seems the magic of pink never fails to shine! Everyone, even in bustling London, could not resist a pink tutu moment.

So here's the big question, my darlings. Have I convinced you yet to add a touch of pink tutu magic to your own wardrobe? Don't be shy! Join the pink revolution – wear it, dance in it, flaunt it!

Now, I'm off to enjoy a restful evening in my comfy hotel room. I might even slip on that new vintage pink tweed coat and dance a little in my room. After all, there's nothing quite like dancing under the stars (or under the dim glow of a bedside lamp).

Until next week, my dear readers, stay fabulous, stay true, and wear a pink tutu!

With much love and many twirls,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
