Hello my dearest Tutu Twirlers! It's Friday, which means it's time for another fabulous Pink Tutu Blog post, and this week, I'm in the big smoke! ?️ London, here I come! ?
As you know, I'm always up for an adventure, and after a fantastic few weeks performing with the Derbyshire Ballet Company, I just couldn't resist a little London trip.
So, with my trusty pink tutu packed and a skip in my step, I hopped aboard the train from Derbyshire this morning, ready to embrace the vibrant energy of the capital. Trains are my absolute favourite mode of transport. I love watching the countryside whizz by, feeling the rhythmic sway, and daydreaming about my adventures ahead. It's the perfect setting for brainstorming future blog posts and composing the perfect outfit for the day.
Pink Tutu Outfit InspirationToday, I'm wearing a custom-made pink tutu from my favourite local seamstress. It's a beautiful tulle explosion of bubblegum pink, adorned with shimmering silver sequins that catch the light with every twirl. To complete the look, I'm pairing it with a vintage white lace blouse, a fluffy pink cardigan (always good to have a bit of extra warmth for unpredictable London weather), and a pair of sparkly white ballet flats. Naturally, my go-to pink bow is pinned into my hair for that extra touch of pink power. ?
The London Eye!
Now, it's time to indulge in one of my favourite London rituals: wandering through the streets, soaking in the atmosphere, and marveling at all the beautiful sights.
First stop, the iconic London Eye! ? I always get a thrill from being so high up, gazing down on the bustling city below. It feels like you can see for miles! It’s absolutely the best way to see London’s skyline! Today, the sun is shining and the sky is so blue, making the entire view even more spectacular. It's one of those magical London moments that makes me truly appreciate how incredible our world is.
The Power of Pink in LondonOn my journey to the London Eye, I noticed a little pop of pink peeking out of a vintage boutique window. How could I resist? Of course, I had to pop in for a little browse. This shop is like a treasure trove of whimsical delights, full of dresses, shoes and hats - all in shades of pink, of course.
They had the most fabulous silk pink scarf with tiny gold stars on it. Perfect to add a touch of magic to any outfit! I absolutely couldn’t leave without it. The shop owner was so charming and passionate about her selection, just as much about fashion and colour as I am! Her infectious enthusiasm definitely made my day!
The power of pink is unstoppable, don't you think? It’s truly a universal language of happiness and joy, radiating positivity wherever it goes. And let's face it, pink always makes everything just a bit more magical. ?
Finding a Pink Paradise in Covent GardenAfter my eye-opening adventure on the London Eye, I ventured down to Covent Garden for a spot of afternoon tea. The energy in Covent Garden was amazing – so vibrant, busy and alive! Covent Garden really embodies everything I love about London: its historical charm combined with a modern twist. The cobbled streets are bursting with creativity, from the flower markets to the street performers.
As I was wandering, I stumbled upon the most beautiful flower shop – tucked away in a corner, its window overflowing with blooms of every colour. I have to admit I got quite distracted from my search for a cafe! There was a single, exquisite, pale pink peony that stood out amongst all the other flowers. It was such a beautiful shade of pink, reminding me of a ballerina's satin slipper. And at this point, I wasn’t quite sure what was more inspiring – the beautiful flower or the next item on my pink-tutu-inspired adventure! I made a note to come back later in the afternoon and maybe take a few pics to put on my Instagram feed.
Ballet-Inspired Fashion InspirationFor dinner, I booked a table at the Royal Opera House. The architecture is truly breathtaking and, as a ballerina at heart, I just can’t resist the feeling of history, grandeur and romance of this place.
As I entered the building, I could almost hear the sound of music, the gentle patter of feet, the murmur of a thousand stories whispered through the centuries. It truly was an inspiring atmosphere. For tonight, I am dining at the restaurant and not the ballet. I chose a simple elegant outfit for tonight's performance; a white silk shirt with delicate lace edging around the collar. It paired beautifully with my signature pink tutu, giving it an even more elegant look. My favourite black ballerina flats completed the ensemble – making me feel feminine and empowered. It felt perfect! Of course, my trusty pink bow was making its usual appearance.
As I sipped my sparkling water (I have to stay hydrated, you know!) and perused the menu, I felt inspired to jot down some ideas for my blog. I'm dreaming up some fun new ballet-inspired fashion collaborations, and I can already picture the incredible shots. Stay tuned for more exciting news on that front, tutu twirlers!
An Evening at the Royal Opera HouseTonight, I was privileged enough to be invited to a rehearsal at the Royal Opera House for a brand new performance. My favourite ballerina from Derbyshire Ballet company, Hannah, is dancing the lead role in Swan Lake. As soon as I stepped backstage, the sense of magic and energy hit me full force.
There was such focus, precision and dedication from the entire team, from the dancers to the crew, all pulling together to create a performance that will take the audience on an extraordinary journey. I was so captivated by the rehearsal; the music, the elegance and the passion – all of it made me just feel completely alive!
The evening culminated with a lovely dinner with Hannah. The conversation flowed easily, sharing stories and dreams about the upcoming season, and the possibilities for collaborations that I can already see in the pipeline. I couldn't imagine a better way to end the day in London.
Sharing the Joy of the Tutu with the World! The reason why I created Pink Tutu Blog, of course, is to encourage the love of ballet, and share it with the world. One of my most important dreams is to encourage people to break free from their comfort zones, embrace a sense of playfulness and joy, and try a little pink tutu magic! There’s just something about a tutu that fills you with energy and confidence! You can pair a tutu with so many different looks and styles. You can find them in so many different colours, lengths and textures.
So, if you've ever had a pink tutu tucked away in your closet, go ahead and pull it out! Let it bring back happy childhood memories, a dash of pink power, and let’s spread the joy! I’ve never had so much fun exploring fashion, sharing my passions with others, and seeing how many other tutu lovers there are around the world!
Don't forget, tutu twirlers! If you are inspired by your own tutu adventures, please share your photos on social media! Use the hashtag #PinkTutuLondon and I’ll make sure to check it out and share it with my followers.
Until next time, remember:
Stay bright! Stay fabulous! Stay Pink!
Much Love,
Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
