Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures, Post #241 - Friday 13th, A Perfectly Pink Day!
Hello lovelies! It's Friday the 13th, and you know what that means? It's time for another edition of Pink Tutu Blog, straight from the heart of London town! As you all know, this week's adventures take place in the fabulous city itself, a place that just makes my heart skip a beat with its cobbled streets, grand buildings, and the promise of incredible theatre productions.
But first, a little about how I got here... My trusty, slightly wonky but entirely charming, vintage suitcase was packed to the brim with enough tulle and pink to satisfy even the most avid fashionista (think ballet pumps, a tutu worthy of a royal gala, and a floral print dress with pockets!).
This week's train journey was a pure delight. I settled in, settled down, and settled on my current read – 'The Ballet of Life: How a Girl From Derbyshire Took Over London' (yes, that's my story! Just need to find a ghost writer). The rhythm of the tracks against the carriage wheels always gets me feeling incredibly creative. The view of the English countryside as we whizzed past just added to the whole magical vibe.
As always, a little ballet is always necessary. This week's performance, "Swan Lake," at the Nottingham Theatre Royal was pure enchantment. I was swept away by the grace of the dancers, the captivating storytelling, and the emotional rollercoaster it took me on. Not only is ballet my life's passion, but it's also the way I fund all these incredible travels. Each performance brings me a little closer to my next adventure, whether it's a trip to Paris for haute couture shopping or a weekend at a beautiful boutique hotel in the Scottish Highlands.
And here I am! London in all its glory, bustling with life, and a place where every street feels like a potential runway. My heart is filled with anticipation, the kind you only feel when a new adventure begins!
The Perfect Pink Friday in LondonLet's dive right in! My Friday started with a whirlwind of pink, and I’m sure yours will too after this…
The Morning - I woke up in a charming little boutique hotel with a view of the Thames (not forgetting the view was only enhanced by the tulle adorned window I fashioned last night). You all know I love my morning coffee – it’s just a tiny ritual that sets me up for the day - and of course, I needed a breakfast to fuel a day filled with London excitement. My pick? The absolutely adorable Cafe on the Corner with its delectable breakfast pastries, creamy lattes, and walls filled with bright floral paintings.
Midday Magic - As London has the most enchanting theatres I had a pre-show ballet class! A fantastic opportunity to work those muscles and really get into the theatrical mood. I donned my favourite tutu – a blush pink one with a sparkling sequin detail – it always gets me in the mood to pirouette!
Afternoon Delights - Then onto a show – a private matinee performance of “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland”. I must say, seeing Alice fall down the rabbit hole at the grand Palace Theatre was an incredibly magical experience, made even more special because it was at the Theatre Royal.
Dinner at the "Pink Palace" - And, speaking of the Theatre Royal, we headed straight to its stunning restaurant for a dinner of dreams. Picture this: beautifully plated salmon, succulent chicken, and crisp vegetables all bathed in the soft, warm glow of candlelight and surrounded by theatre posters – the perfect ending to a phenomenal afternoon.
- A vintage hat for a perfect spring afternoon - I'm eyeing up the quirky, hat shops in Notting Hill, and my inner fashionista is already dreaming of all the charming hat styles I'll discover.
- A stunning new tutu - This weekend, I'll be heading to Covent Garden. With its cobbled streets, elegant boutiques, and abundance of beautiful vintage stores, it’s just begging to be explored, and you know what they say, 'If in doubt, wear pink!'. So naturally, my next London conquest is a brand new pink tutu – this one will be something truly special!
Fashion Inspiration Alert!
Don’t worry if you’re not able to hop on a train and join me in my pink-tastic adventures – you can create your own fairytale! This week’s Pink Tutu Blog inspiration comes from the gorgeous London city vibe – think delicate floral prints and romantic ruffle blouses, bright colours, and of course, lots of tulle!
The Perfect Outfit:
1. Flowy Floral Print Dress: A breezy midi length floral print dress is your perfect match for a sunny spring afternoon! Look for delicate prints with vibrant colours. Add a little sparkle with some small floral jewellery – let your personality shine through!
2. Vintage-inspired Pink Jacket: Let your true vintage style emerge. Look for a beautifully structured jacket, one that adds elegance and a bit of unexpected colour.
3. Pastel-toned ballet flats or sneakers: For maximum comfort and a little Parisian chic, grab a pair of pastel ballet flats. And if you're feeling a little more rebellious (yet chic!) throw on your fave trainers and enjoy a little casual cool.
