Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #242 - A Day of Delights in the Capital!
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from another whirl around London, and trust me, it was a whirl! Friday's always special in this incredible city, so of course, I had to be there. My trusty train whisked me away from the picturesque Derbyshire hills, and I must say, I always love the thrill of that journey, gazing at the countryside scenery blurring past the window.
Now, my outfit, darling? Well, a little pink to celebrate, naturally. My new Pink Paradise tutu - a swirl of tulle and whimsy - teamed with my favourite sparkly pink jumper and my trusty ballet flats. Feeling confident and ready to take on the world, I was.
My London Adventure Begins:
My first stop was The Royal Opera House for a special treat - the much-anticipated premiere of Giselle. The anticipation was electric. It was an unforgettable performance! The dancers were breathtaking, the music was simply divine, and the atmosphere was just magical. Oh, I do love the grand spectacle of opera and ballet - it’s truly the perfect blend of artistry and entertainment.
Fashion Fun:
Speaking of spectacles, next I sashayed to the Carnaby Street area for a bit of retail therapy. Honestly, London's shops never fail to inspire. I'm not talking about your usual high street haunts - I mean those quirky little boutiques brimming with unique designs, vintage finds and of course, an abundance of pink. It was like a haven for all things beautiful and creative. I snagged the most divine, lacy pink headband for my next dance class, as well as some sparkly earrings and a gorgeous scarf I'm going to use in my new "Tutu in the City" photography shoot. Let's face it, every ballerina needs a bit of extra flair in their wardrobe.
Lunchtime Treat:
Time for some sustenance, so I popped into a charming cafe in Soho for a little "afternoon tea", complete with freshly baked scones and clotted cream, of course. Oh, and a pot of pink Earl Grey tea for the ultimate afternoon delight. There's something so chic about afternoon tea, and the perfect setting to reflect on a fabulous morning.
A Symphony of Sound:
To conclude my fabulous Friday adventure, I went to the Barbican to see the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Honestly, there's no sound quite as uplifting as a live symphony performance. The energy in the hall was palpable, and I felt completely immersed in the music, a true moment of pure bliss. It's a real reminder why London is a global hub for arts and culture.
Time to Dance:
After the music, my evening ended back in the comfort of my own flat. There's something truly magical about slipping back into the tranquility of my little home after a fabulous day of exploring. I spent the rest of the night stretching, practicing my barre work, and reflecting on all the wonders of the day.
Inspiration Everywhere:
Every day in London feels like an inspiration. From the whimsical atmosphere of Carnaby Street to the powerful artistry at The Royal Opera House, it's a constant reminder of the joy and the beauty in the world. And let's face it, that's what it's all about!
My Final Thoughts:
So there you have it, another incredible day in London, filled with sparkling adventures. Now, who's up for joining me next week? I'm already planning my next adventure, and trust me, it's going to be bigger, better, and definitely more pink than ever before! Remember to head to the Pink Tutu website, www.pink-tutu.com for more updates on my adventures and upcoming classes.
Until next time, darlings, stay fabulous!
Emma XOXO
P.S. Did you know, 20th April is World Ballet Day? Well, I’ll be celebrating in style. Let’s all raise a glass of pink champagne to this beautiful art form and the joy it brings to us!
A little bit about what was on this date
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is one of Britain's best known orchestras and on the 20th April 2001 they were performing "Mahler 8" which was being conducted by Leonard Slatkin and performed to a packed house!
This was Giselle’s first performance for 2001 season at The Royal Opera House which always gets great reviews. Giselle has been part of The Royal Opera House repertoire since its first ever production in 1841.
A few other famous people celebrated a birthday on the 20th of April this year – James Coburn, Rosie O'Donnell and one of my favorite ballet dancers - Misty Copeland, (though she'd have only been about 13 years old at the time!).
Now if you really want a fun night in London, get your pink tutu ready for West End shows! Moulin Rouge is just starting a run and for that perfect girly night out, Grease, the Lion King, Wicked and Mamma Mia! are all showing, not to mention lots of wonderful Shakespeare plays and smaller stage shows and music acts all vying for your attention in this incredibly vibrant city.
If you can’t make it to London for ballet or theatre, check out the many options available in cities throughout the UK! And keep that pink tutu close at hand!
