Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures - Post #243 - 27th April, 2001
Hello, darlings! It's Emma, your Pink Tutu blogger, back with another thrilling instalment from my latest adventure. This time, it's London! Oh, how I adore this magnificent city! Every cobblestone street and charming shop window is a little treasure just waiting to be discovered. I've finally managed to squeeze in a trip to London between my performances β my funds are looking a little less "pink" after those last few shows (it's tough keeping the tutus clean, you know!). But I wouldn't dream of missing out on the magic of London.
As always, I travelled in style, of course. The train ride was a total delight! Nothing quite beats the anticipation as you speed through the English countryside towards the capital. And just to add a bit of extra sparkle to my journey, I couldn't resist donning my most whimsical pink tutu! I mean, a girl has to maintain a certain level of fabulousness, don't you agree?
Now, where to begin with London's enchanting charm? I had the most glorious time exploring everything this fantastic city has to offer.
Friday Flirts with Fashion
I started the day off with a visit to Liberty, that iconic department store on Regent Street. It's simply a wonderland of unique and luxurious finds. I snagged a silk scarf, so exquisitely delicate it felt like a whisper against my skin, and a vintage book of fashion illustrations, because you know I love to draw inspiration from the past. It's hard not to be inspired by the creativity that surrounds you in this fabulous shop.
After lunch β a divine afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, warm scones, and bottomless cups of Earl Grey, naturally β I ventured into the trendy heart of Soho. I lost myself in the maze of vintage shops and art galleries, and of course, found the perfect pink floral broach to complement my tutu! A girl can never have too much pink, can she?
Ballet's Divine Presence
And what would a Friday in London be without a trip to the theatre? I booked tickets months ago for "The Nutcracker" at the Royal Opera House. It was simply divine. The costumes were dazzling, the choreography exquisite, and the sheer talent on stage was awe-inspiring. Seeing "The Nutcracker" in a city that pulsates with so much artistry and beauty was an unforgettable experience. I may have even shed a happy tear or two, I confess!
After the ballet, I wandered the bustling streets, soaking in the sights, sounds, and even the scent of London. I discovered a new cafe that specialised in organic, vegetarian cakes - how delightfully pink! It had so many delectable pink-coloured treats I couldn't decide!
Evening Entertainment: Where London Comes Alive
London in the evening⦠what a transformation! The city twinkles with life, and its energy is infectious. The vibrant Covent Garden is my favourite place to lose myself in the evening bustle. The street performers, the unique boutiques, and the delicious street food - I spent hours just roaming and taking it all in.
And what is a girl to do after a fabulous evening in Covent Garden but catch a show? I went to the National Theatre, a theatre that makes me feel very grown-up! They are always putting on fantastic shows. This time, I saw a play that told the tale of a historical figure who had to escape their home in their tutu β I almost had tears in my eyes during the finale. It's amazing how theatre can be so emotional, wouldn't you say?
Sunday Funday β The Pink Tutu Chronicles Continue
Sunday morning I was up and about early. After a cuppa and a plate of my favourite homemade breakfast β granola with blueberries and honey β I took a train trip to Notting Hill. I'm in love with the colourful architecture and eclectic charm of this charming neighbourhood.
After exploring Portobello Road Market and finding some incredible vintage finds, I enjoyed lunch with a friend at a charming cafe with fairy lights. It was so dreamy, even for a Pink Tutu-loving girly girl like myself!
A Fond Farewell to London
My journey back to Derbyshire was bittersweet. I'm already itching to return and explore this wonderful city even more. I'm dreaming of seeing a performance of "The Swan Lake," visiting museums dedicated to the history of ballet, and of course, finding more gorgeous pink treasures in the bustling shops and markets!
I want to spread the message to every Londoner: Let your inner Pink Tutu girl shine! Embrace colour, be playful, and dance through life with confidence! Until next week, darlings!
What's Coming Next?
I have so many exciting things in store. Next week, I'm off to the Cotswolds, for a weekend of nature walks and delicious picnics, complete with a picnic basket decorated with pink polka dots. I just know it's going to be picture-perfect.
Stay tuned for my blog next Friday.
Lots of love and pinkest wishes,
Emma
