Pink Tutu Blog London - #316 - Friday 2002-09-20: A Whirlwind London Adventure in Pink!

Hello, my darling darlings! It's Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu enthusiast, back from another exhilarating trip to the Big Smoke! I'm bubbling over with excitement, so let me tell you all about my Friday escapades.

This week, I had to skip the ballet class – wouldn't miss that for the world, you know, but I'd secured a guest performance at the Edinburgh Festival. Such a thrill to bring my pirouettes to the Fringe! After my dazzling performance, I whizzed back on the train, settling back into my usual compartment - a pink feather boa strategically placed on my carry-on suitcase, just in case I need to channel my inner ballerina on the journey. Nothing quite says "I'm going to London!" like a well-placed feather boa, darling! (Oh, and a dash of blusher - always travel with a blusher, for that healthy, rosy glow. Never, ever let the journey dull your shine, right?)

The platform at London Euston Station was alive with chatter and energy, just brimming with those quintessential London vibes. I was struck, as always, by the sheer variety of outfits, but one thing was clear – the trend this season is definitely bold patterns. And let's not forget about colour! Londoners seem to be daring with a delightful blend of colours, but if I could offer one piece of advice, embrace a splash of pink - it’s absolutely everywhere, and it will guarantee you stand out in a crowd!

Now, this Friday, my itinerary was jam-packed, all planned down to the minute, a true testament to the Pink Tutu life:

  • Morning: A whirlwind trip to Covent Garden for some much-needed inspiration and, of course, to see what all the fabulous London ladies were wearing! The flowers at the market were glorious, with all their colourful charm and those magnificent roses – absolutely breathtaking – they instantly set me in a cheery mood! Then, a spot of retail therapy (the obligatory visit to Liberty - their exquisite silks and lace are just begging to be draped in pink tutus!), and some delicious sticky toffee pudding (a necessity after such intense shopping!)

  • Afternoon: On to the heart of the West End - a quintessential London experience! I managed to snatch a ticket for 'Mamma Mia', a joyous musical that reminded me just why I love London theatre - the incredible performers, the rousing music, the atmosphere - just fantastic. I may have even swayed a little bit in my seat (don’t judge – it's just my natural reaction to all things bright and bubbly). I think my inner tutu-loving dancer was really quite pleased!

  • Evening: As a treat, I reserved a table at The Ivy – oh my, the elegant atmosphere, the gleaming chandeliers, the exquisite menu (and the cocktails! – they had me swooning!) I enjoyed the most scrumptious risotto, which was actually coloured a beautiful pink hue! Such a lucky find! This restaurant was absolutely buzzing with vibrant energy - a delightful mixture of theatre-goers and those out for a delightful evening meal. I even managed to score some fantastic snaps for my Instagram feed.

By this point, my feet were starting to ache a little, but that's all part of the charm of exploring this wonderful city, don't you think? London is meant to be savoured, to be truly explored – walk, discover, explore - every cobbled street and ancient corner holds a new treasure!

Oh, but there's more! Friday was such a perfect day, the sun even put in an appearance - that radiant warmth adds a touch of magic to everything in London.

Speaking of magical things, I did a little searching in my favourite vintage boutiques - always a must for a true pink tutu lover. You know, there’s something about those gorgeous, quirky finds that speaks to my love of vintage and the absolutely irresistible beauty of delicate tulle and lace. This week, I scored an elegant pale pink feather boa (just perfect for a touch of pink tulle elegance) and an adorable miniature teacup for my London home - the little things in life are truly the sweetest.

And to top it off, I stumbled across a delightful shop nestled away in a side street, full of delightful accessories! I'm talking tiny tiaras, pink-tinged feathers, shimmering gemstones – absolute magic! Of course, I couldn’t resist treating myself to a delicate pink-frosted charm - a delightful reminder of my London escapades! My pink tutu wardrobe is starting to grow quite nicely!

And remember, my lovelies - a bit of pink tulle always adds a touch of charm! It's that extra sparkle, that bit of magic, that turns your every-day into something a little more whimsical. So don't be afraid to experiment, don’t be afraid to stand out. Dress in pink, dance in pink, live life in pink – it's the best way to do it, I promise!

Oh, and before I forget – Did I mention the ballet? Well, Friday’s performance was absolutely spectacular! I spent the day in the studio perfecting my 'pink tutu choreography' and then twirled my way onto the stage. There was so much passion, so much joy in those pirouettes and fouettes – I couldn't have felt happier! My audience went wild, they loved my delicate dance steps, my pink tutu outfit – it truly is a recipe for success, darling! The final curtain call brought me the happiest glow – my life as a pink tutu-loving ballerina could not have been better!

And don’t forget, my lovely followers! My blog is here to encourage you to make your own tutu-tastic adventures. Life is too short to not embrace the magic and whimsy of a pink tutu!

I can't wait to share my next adventure with you next Friday. Until then, keep spreading those pink tulle vibes and let’s make the world a more colourful and sparkly place, one pink tutu at a time!

Love,

Emma xox

P.S I found the most divine shop filled with absolutely irresistible dresses! Oh, my! It had so many pretty dresses in every shade of pink. (Did I tell you how much I love pink? Haha!) I can’t wait to write more about it next Friday! I have to go try them all on for my next blog post, wouldn’t you say?!
