Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #318 – Friday, 2002-10-04 - A London Daydream!
Hello my lovely readers, it's Friday, October the 4th! The sun is shining, the leaves are starting to turn, and the crisp autumn air has a certain magic in it, don't you think? Well, you can bet your pink tutu that I'm ready to paint the town pink! This week, I'm channeling my inner Londoner, exploring all the fabulous sights and sounds of this captivating city!
It's a bit of a departure for me to be writing from London this week - after all, my Derbyshire roots are pretty deep. But when the call of the stage beckons (and a particularly tempting ballet contract came my way!), well, one simply has to answer. You see, I managed to book a spot performing at The London Palladium - can you believe it? The home of musical theatre royalty, I get to dance on that stage! But enough about my exciting gig... Let's talk about the capital!
As ever, I made the journey by train. There's just something magical about the rhythmic clinking and clattering of a train journey, don't you think? And who could resist a trip to the platform in my most darling hot pink tutu? It's the ultimate travelling attire for a ballerina, darling. After all, you never know who might be sitting next to you on the carriage!
Today was all about immersing myself in the heart of London - its buzzing streets, quirky cafes, and those hidden gems tucked away down cobbled alleyways. I kicked off the day with a delightful pit stop at The Ritz - a cuppa in such an iconic venue was simply divine. You wouldn't believe the beautiful outfits some of the guests were sporting! Every occasion feels grander in a fabulous outfit, don't you think?
My next adventure was in the iconic district of Notting Hill - a truly eclectic mix of independent shops and chic cafes. I simply couldn't resist browsing through some of the vintage boutiques, a treasure trove for a fashionista like me! They were absolutely bursting with beautiful fabrics and colourful patterns – it's impossible to resist grabbing a little something! The perfect souvenir? Why, a brand new pink scarf with dainty pearl embellishments, of course!
The sun was making itself known, so I treated myself to an ice cream from one of the charming gelaterias near Portobello Market. Honestly, the smell of that fresh gelato is just pure bliss! I found myself lost in the vibrant stalls, each overflowing with its own unique character.
After lunch, I embarked on a little exploration of Hyde Park. Oh my, what a stunningly serene oasis right in the heart of London! The beauty of nature mixed with the sound of children's laughter and the sweet melodies of passing buskers - a true symphony for the soul! And you won't believe it – there was even a family picnicking on a beautiful gingham tablecloth, surrounded by the cutest picnic basket filled with sandwiches! I do hope it wasn't a birthday picnic... Because they simply had to be wearing matching pink tutus for a special occasion like that, darling!
As the evening began to set in, I had to pay a visit to the iconic Tower of London. Just as I imagined, the place had an air of history, majesty and, frankly, just a touch of the mysterious about it! Walking past those towering walls, I felt like I had travelled back in time! And it was simply glorious!
After a light bite in the quaint streets near my hotel, I knew just the place to unwind and prepare for the biggest performance of my life: The London Palladium! Yes, that’s right – this amazing theatre, the centre of the entertainment world. My heart thumped like a dancer's heartbeat as I approached the venue – this is my dream come true! The feeling of the red carpet beneath my pink tulle skirt (I couldn't possibly resist wearing my new scarf to the big show!) and the cheers of the crowd just added to the spectacle!
Now, darling, I can't tell you exactly what I’m dancing to, I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, but I can say this much – I’m surrounded by an amazing group of dancers, we're all incredibly talented and dedicated, and we're all pouring our hearts out into each performance. And it's pure magic to be on that stage. You know, if you ever happen to be in London and need a little theatrical sparkle in your life, the Palladium is the place to be.
It's late, and I must get some rest! After all, a ballerina needs her beauty sleep! I’m filled with such joy after a day of wonderful experiences and that exciting performance. I’ve discovered London is truly a place that captivates the soul, a vibrant and alluring city that leaves you wanting more. And honestly, darling, there’s a pink tutu to be found in every corner of this beautiful city. And you never know, if you happen to catch me during one of my trips around the capital, we might just end up having the most fabulous pink-tutu filled tea party at The Ritz. Now wouldn't that be divine?
Don’t forget to come back next Friday for another Pink Tutu Blog London adventure. Until then, be sure to share your adventures with me – you know where to find me. Don’t forget – wear a pink tutu for extra luck!
With love and sparkle,
Emma xo
