Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! - #319

Hello my darlings! It's Friday again, which means it's time for another London adventure! πŸ©°πŸ’• I've been absolutely brimming with excitement all week, as today is the day I hop on the train down to the capital. The air in Derbyshire is crisp, and the leaves are starting to turn a gorgeous golden colour. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the arrival of autumn than with a little trip to London!

For those of you who are new to my blog, I'm Emma, a girl who loves pink, loves tutus, and especially loves London. My ultimate goal is to inspire every single one of you to don a pink tutu and embrace your inner ballerina! πŸ’– I fund my travels and tutus through my passion: performing in ballet productions. There's just something magical about soaring through the air, expressing myself with every pliΓ© and jetΓ©.

This week, I'm taking the train down to London - one of my favourite modes of transport! There's something so romantic and exciting about the journey. I love watching the scenery blur past as I sit and daydream, lost in my own little world of ballet and bubbles. (Yes, I do like to enjoy a glass of Prosecco while I travel, and you know what? Life's too short not to indulge!).

What's on today? Well, today is Friday the 11th of October, 2002, so let me give you the lowdown on what we have planned!

  • The Royal Ballet: Today marks a big day in the world of ballet - the Royal Ballet is presenting "The Sleeping Beauty"! I absolutely can't wait to witness the exquisite choreography and the stunning costumes. My dear friend, Chloe, has a backstage pass, so I'm hoping to get a sneak peek at the costumes before the performance. 🀫
  • Oxford Street Shopping: There's no trip to London complete without a good old fashioned shopping spree! This time, I'm going for all things vintage. My latest project involves transforming a pair of old shoes into a ballet-themed piece of art! You wouldn't believe the bargains I found on Oxford Street - vintage boots, old scarves, and a couple of pretty brooches that will be perfect for my design.
  • The Covent Garden Market: No trip to London is complete without a visit to Covent Garden Market. It's a haven for the quirky and the unique, with an incredible selection of food stalls, quirky shops, and street performers. I'm thinking of getting myself a pretty silk scarf for a new dance performance. Perhaps something with feathers or floral designs! 🌸

Now, let's dive into this week's London adventures!

Arrival in London: The train station buzzed with energy. Everyone was rushing about, suitcases rolling alongside them, carrying excitement and possibilities with them. As soon as I stepped out of the station, a wave of familiar London energy washed over me - the distinctive sound of car horns, the hustle and bustle of people rushing to and fro, and the alluring scent of street food. It's the perfect blend of urban chaos and captivating magic!

Afternoon Tea at The Ritz: It's just not a London trip without a proper afternoon tea, is it? And where better to indulge than at The Ritz? Stepping through those doors, it was like stepping into a beautifully crafted fairytale. The elegant chandeliers shimmered, the white tablecloths gleamed, and the aroma of freshly brewed tea filled the air. Of course, my favourite part of afternoon tea was the delicious array of finger sandwiches, decadent cakes, and perfectly warm scones with clotted cream.

The Royal Ballet Performance: It was an absolute dream! I was enchanted by the stunning choreography and the delicate beauty of the ballerinas. It's amazing how much emotion and storytelling they convey through movement. Seeing a live performance, with all the energy of the dancers and the magical atmosphere of the theatre, truly made my heart sing! πŸ’–

The Covent Garden Market: Ah, Covent Garden! It's like a vibrant tapestry of colour, creativity, and charm. I was mesmerized by the intricate handcrafted jewellery, colourful vintage clothes, and delicious street food vendors. It was so tempting to indulge in everything! I finally decided to buy myself a beautifully printed silk scarf. The colors are gorgeous - shades of peach, emerald green, and lavender! I'm already planning to incorporate it into my next performance.

Street Entertainment: You've simply got to check out the street performers in Covent Garden! There was a captivating street artist painting a portrait in the blink of an eye. It's absolutely astonishing to witness their talent! Next to him, a violinist was playing a breathtaking melody, while a few metres away, a group of talented singers were wowing the crowd with their soulful tunes.

The Perfect Outfit for the Evening: Now, onto my favourite part of any trip: the fashion! πŸ‘  For this special occasion, I decided to go for something glamorous yet graceful. My choice was a stunning champagne-colored gown with intricate embroidery, paired with delicate gold jewelry and my signature, fluffy pink tutu. A small pop of vibrant pink with a blush on my cheeks completed the look! ✨

Dinner at The Ivy: It wouldn't be a trip to London without a delightful dinner at The Ivy! The warm atmosphere, friendly service, and of course, the amazing food, made for the perfect evening. I went for a classic salmon dish, which was incredibly fresh and well presented. It was an elegant end to an extraordinary day.

Reflecting on the day: London never fails to leave me feeling exhilarated and inspired. It's a city where magic truly exists, in the form of ballet, art, theatre, and just plain joy. This trip was filled with the things I love most - tutus, ballet performances, vibrant shopping adventures, and discovering hidden gems like Covent Garden Market. I truly believe that every single person should embrace their inner ballerina, don a pink tutu, and live a life filled with wonder and adventure! πŸ’–

See you next Friday for more London adventures!

Love, Emma xx
