Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #419 - Friday, 10th September 2004 - London Calling!

Hello darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to London. I've been keeping a very busy schedule - as usual! It was a jam-packed day of dancing, shopping and, of course, pink tutus.

Oh, how I love train journeys! Especially when you're leaving the lovely rolling green hills of Derbyshire and heading into the heart of London. There's something so thrilling about watching the landscape whizz past, especially when you know you're heading towards a day filled with pink delights.

I have to say, there's nothing like the feeling of hopping off the train at London King's Cross. It's such a vibrant, energetic place, and it's hard not to be swept up in the excitement of it all. I even spotted a lovely young lady wearing a light pink tutu – the colours were so beautifully pale, like a ballerina’s cloud!

But enough about train journeys. Today was all about London!

I had been eyeing up a gorgeous floral silk dress in my favourite shade of pale pink for a week. I finally decided it would be the perfect outfit for my day of adventures in London, so it was straight off to Selfridges. Of course, a lovely pink tutu tucked into the skirt adds the perfect dash of whimsy, don't you think?

Selfridges never disappoints! They have the most amazing selection of clothes and accessories, and it's a real feast for the senses. I even spotted a beautiful pink fascinator – you know, I have a weakness for hats, they are so much fun to wear. I also came across a fantastic boutique that sold these delightful ballerina slippers. Oh my! Imagine my delight – sparkly pink slippers for my travels, simply wonderful. I think it's about time I had a collection of dance-inspired footwear! A new pink tutu obsession… now where did I put my credit card… ?

Now, London isn't all about shopping. As any proper ballerina knows, a trip to the capital wouldn't be complete without a visit to the theatre! Today was a double bill, with two truly spectacular productions.

Firstly, I went to see “The Rite of Spring” at the Royal Opera House. My, oh my! The dancing was just phenomenal, filled with such power and raw emotion, leaving me totally mesmerized! It's amazing to think that this ballet was such a scandal when it debuted. How could they find such beauty so offensive?!

After a delicious cream tea – because let's face it, ballet takes its toll on you – I saw a truly enchanting performance of “The Sleeping Beauty”. You have to experience a live performance to truly feel the magic. It was absolutely stunning, a dream of a production, with gorgeous costumes and delicate choreography. It was such a lovely way to end my theatrical adventure.

And let's not forget the highlight of my trip, The London Ballet Centre. Now, who doesn’t love a bit of ballet class? It was just as amazing as you can imagine. The teachers were so patient and encouraging, and the other dancers were absolutely incredible! They made me feel like I could fly!

Honestly, I could stay in that beautiful space for hours, just swirling around and practicing. Maybe I could even move to London to be a ballet dancer! Maybe someday.

And, of course, I'd be a pink tutu ballerina – you can't beat the style! After all, my motto is "Think pink! Wear a tutu!"

That’s my London story, darlings! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, London is just the best place! I know I said it already but just look at the fashion and theatre - what else is there?! London truly lives up to its nickname: the big smoke, it's a world full of possibility!

I have to say, I just love this little ballet blogging adventure. London and the pink tutus are an endless source of inspiration.

Keep twirling, darlings!

Much love,

Emma
