Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #526 - Friday 2006-09-29 - A Pink Tutu Explores the Big Smoke!
Hello lovelies! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina, back from a whirlwind trip to the Big Smoke! It’s been another incredible week, filled with gorgeous ballet shows, dazzling shop windows, and adventures in the heart of London. Let me tell you, London never fails to amaze me with its energy and elegance, so come along, grab a cuppa, and let’s dive into this week's Pink Tutu escapades!
A Railway Journey to the Capital:
This Friday began early with a sunrise train ride from Derbyshire. It always feels magical, you know, watching the world go by from the window as you’re whisked into the city. I’d packed my little suitcase with my go-to London essentials: my favourite pink tutu (naturally!), a comfy cardigan for the inevitable British weather, my ballet shoes, and a few new outfits for the occasion! This week's travel companion? A stack of classic ballet novels I found at a charming second-hand bookshop back home – nothing says “London trip” like a little literary inspiration.
Pink Tutu Hits the London Streets
And wouldn’t you know it? London was absolutely radiating on this Friday! Stepping off the train at Paddington, I felt a rush of excitement. I always feel a touch of Cinderella at this station – a grand hall, beautiful stained-glass windows, and the air thick with the energy of city dwellers going about their day. This Friday felt extra special, the sun was beaming, and everyone seemed extra cheerful!
The plan for today was a classic – a full-day Pink Tutu London exploration. First on my agenda, a spot of shopping at Liberty of London. If you've never been, I strongly suggest you put it on your must-do list. It’s just the most charming department store, full of everything beautiful: vintage dresses, silk scarves, quirky gifts, you name it. And guess what? They had an entire pink and floral patterned wall adorned with tutus. My inner-ballerina did a little celebratory jig!
An Afternoon at The Royal Opera House
Afternoon rolled in with the promise of the most magnificent ballet performance. And yes, I was rocking my signature pink tutu of course. Nothing says “ballet night out” quite like a swishing pink tutu, eh? Today was all about the English National Ballet, performing one of my all-time favourites – "Giselle." It was incredible! Every step, every leap, every twirl was breathtakingly beautiful. The energy from the stage, the vibrant costumes, the music, the atmosphere - it just captured your attention completely.
It made me wish I could have leapt onto the stage and danced with them! And of course, my Pink Tutu wouldn't let me forget a visit to the ROH’s souvenir shop, where I scooped up a stunning ballerina pin.
Dinner & Shows at the Heart of the West End
And what’s a Friday night in London without a little theatricality? It wouldn't be a trip to London without some West End magic! After a quick stop for some delectable Thai food – can you believe they actually do good curry here?! – I found myself in the heart of Theatreland, excited for the night's show, “Chicago.”
There’s something quite special about the energy in London’s West End. The streets are electric with excitement. You feel the hum of a thousand stories in the air.
“Chicago” itself was pure energy – it was so sassy and energetic, it had the entire audience clapping and singing along. I just love that kind of performance!
And because no Pink Tutu blog post is complete without a little bit of fashion inspiration, let's talk outfits! This Friday, I paired my signature pink tutu with a lovely silk blouse from Liberty, a vintage cardigan (my go-to for London weather), and sparkly black ballet flats. For a touch of flair, I added my grandmother's gorgeous pearl necklace.
And what can I say? It made for the most elegant ballet look!
Pink Tutu Reflection
Walking back to Paddington for my train home, I couldn’t help but smile. London, with its grandeur, its bustling streets, and its cultural gems, always leaves me with such a joyful buzz. This Friday was full of inspiration, joy, and a dash of pink tutu magic. If you’re looking for a city that's always alive with something to see, experience, and be inspired by, then London's the place for you. It's like the world's biggest theatre with something special happening on every corner!
But for now, I'll leave you with a big pink tutu hug and until next week, lovelies, stay sparkly and never be afraid to twirl. And if you can, wear pink, embrace the colour, embrace life.
With all my love,
Emma xxx
