Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! #552
Hello lovelies!
It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another Pink Tutu Blog adventure! This week, I'm whisking you all off to London, a city that always gets my heart fluttering. (And my tutu twirling!)
I arrived this morning, after a delightful train journey from Derbyshire. The gentle rhythm of the train tracks always inspires me, and I spent the whole trip daydreaming about my London escapade. I can't help but think there's something wonderfully romantic about train travel, especially when you're wearing a vibrant pink tutu and a stylish vintage hat.
Speaking of pink tutus, this one is a real showstopper! It's a dreamy shade of bubblegum pink, and it's covered in delicate silver sequins that catch the light just beautifully. I'm wearing it with a vintage, pale blue cotton blouse and my favourite cherry red cardigan, because let’s be honest, a London afternoon calls for layers.
And as for London... well, London is always bursting with excitement. It's a city of incredible energy, filled with stories waiting to be discovered, and I'm ready to dive in! Today, I'm all about exploring, so I’m kicking things off with a wander through Covent Garden, one of my favourite spots in the city.
The market itself is a vibrant explosion of colours, sounds, and smells. There's a whole world of treats to tempt you: fresh, juicy fruits, colourful bouquets of flowers, and, of course, the most divine street food! (I’m having my eye on a heavenly looking strawberry tart.)
But for me, the true charm of Covent Garden lies in its quirky charm and theatre atmosphere. You'll find performers at every corner, with everything from street magic to breakdancing, juggling, and even a couple of talented tap dancers! I couldn't resist joining in on the fun for a moment - just a little twirl here, a graceful pirouette there, to celebrate the vibrant energy of the city!
As I stroll through the cobbled streets, my eyes are drawn to a gorgeous display of pastel-coloured macarons at a little boutique patisserie. Oh, how I love macarons! Each little meringue, with its vibrant colours and delicate filling, is a tiny piece of art. And as you take a bite, it’s an explosion of flavour!
Of course, no visit to Covent Garden is complete without popping into the Royal Opera House. Just standing in its shadow fills me with a sense of history and beauty. It’s a building that echoes with the brilliance of great performers from the past, and it’s a place where ballet legends are created.
Later today, I’m venturing into the West End to catch a show. "Cats" is still running, and I’ve heard the costume design is just stunning. I can’t wait! Of course, any excuse to see a performance is a good one in my book!
While the West End has become the go-to for theatre, I’m quite smitten with some of the smaller and more alternative venues scattered across London. My personal favourites? The Unicorn Theatre, which specialises in magical shows for children, and the Old Vic, which champions innovative theatre. I do love finding those hidden gems, and, on a personal level, the whole experience is just more intimate and personal.
As evening descends, it’s time to slip on my finest frock and embrace London's vibrant nightlife. My plan is a leisurely stroll through Kensington Gardens, followed by a glass of prosecco and perhaps a spot of jazz at the Speakeasy in Notting Hill. This whole experience reminds me, there's nothing quite like the excitement of a Friday night in London, especially when you're rocking a bold pink tutu. And this is one outfit that just doesn't seem to lose its appeal, no matter where I wander!
Now, I know what you're thinking: “Emma, where do you find the time for all of this? And, most importantly, how do you fund it all?” Well, my friends, you’re looking at a dedicated ballet dancer! And, luckily, I’m lucky enough to perform regularly. My ballet career allows me to explore, to travel, to chase my fashion dreams, and most importantly, to share my adventures with you lovely folks!
And I always get the best comments, the best questions about my tutu. Honestly, it’s a great conversation starter! So, let’s face it: My aim is to get everyone to embrace the pink tutu! And what better way to inspire the world than to share these wonderful, girly moments with you all?
Oh, speaking of fashion! London is an absolute heaven for vintage clothing. This weekend, I’m exploring the vibrant markets in Portobello Road and Camden Town, with the goal of finding some amazing, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces to add to my wardrobe. Vintage style always seems to make a statement - and I can’t wait to see what little gems I uncover. You can bet I'll be posting photos of my finds on Instagram. So make sure to follow @PinkTutuLondon for all the latest updates!
Remember to tune in next Friday for another installment of Pink Tutu Blog - until then, keep twirling and dreaming!
And, as always, feel free to leave your comments, your stories, your tutu tips below! And let’s chat - do you have a favourite spot in London, or maybe a suggestion for a wonderful new vintage shop? I'm always up for exploring new avenues in fashion!
See you next Friday, darlings!
