Pink Tutu Blog London - Friday 2007-11-09 - Exploring London: A Day in Pink!

Hello Darlings!

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com! This week, it's all about London. I absolutely adore this city. You all know I'm a big fan of hopping on a train (always first-class of course!), so I decided to make the journey from Derbyshire to London this week. Itā€™s so inspiring to be here! There's so much happening and such an incredible atmosphere. So grab a cuppa and settle in because I've got a fabulous day in pink to share with you.

This post is number 584, for those keeping track! Every week, on Friday, you'll find a fresh post all about London life from your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina. I do have to confess, though, London has got me a little stressed - you wouldnā€™t believe the choice of tutus here! šŸ˜± Honestly, it's overwhelming but I'm determined to conquer it.

Now, let me tell you, the train ride to London was just delightful. It was such a peaceful escape from the world, perfect for dreaming up my latest tutus. But the most important part? I always bring a new outfit for my London escapades. This week, it was a divine shade of candy floss pink - think ballet shoes, tutu, and matching pink coat. Naturally! It had a lovely vintage feel to it, which made me think of those elegant, graceful ballerinas in their tulle skirts back in the golden era of ballet. āœØ

The dayā€™s itinerary (because, of course, thereā€™s a plan! ) 1. Lunch with my friend Rosie at our favourite vintage tea shop 2. Exploring Liberty department store - oh, those colours, oh those fabrics! 3. A matinee performance at the London Coliseum! 4. A magical walk around Covent Garden and some shopping for new ballet shoes (naturally!) šŸ‘  5. Dinner in a quaint restaurant on the Thames - watching the river flow.

First Stop: Vintage Tea and Conversation Rosie, my partner-in-crime for all things London-related, met me at Paddington Station with a smile. Now, you have to know that Rosie isnā€™t exactly a "pink" kind of girl, but sheā€™s a dear friend, and she always tries her best to indulge my tutus! I managed to convince her to wear a blush-pink top today. She doesnā€™t really ā€œgetā€ the pink-tutu thing but we can always agree on a good cuppa! We decided to get some light tea and cakes in this fabulous little vintage tea shop that I love, where youā€™ll find beautiful china, mismatched chairs, and the most delectable pastries. We just sit for ages, laughing and discussing all things tutus and London. You know, everything thatā€™s important in life!

Second Stop: Liberty: A Fabric Wonderland After tea and cakes (and some really lovely chat), we took a trip to Libertyā€™s, and OMG. Itā€™s such an incredible store. Think gorgeous silk, luxurious cashmere, vibrant prints, everything that would be divine for a pink tutu. I literally couldā€™ve gotten lost in there for hours. It's so inspirational for my next pink-tutu project!

Third Stop: Ballet Magic at the Coliseum! After a short break and a touch of pink lipstick, Rosie and I were off to the Coliseum for ā€œGiselle.ā€ You just canā€™t come to London and miss the ballet. Of course, the ballet itself was absolutely stunning, but I must tell you about the costumes! The romantic ballerinas all wore these delicate, light tutus, with tulle layered on top, that floated effortlessly as they danced.

My heart almost jumped out of my chest! They looked so incredibly beautiful, and I felt an instant inspiration to design something equally captivating! I already know that my next pink tutu design needs to channel those lovely dancers, a bit of romance and dreamy grace ā€“ just what I think pink tutus can do.

Fourth Stop: Covent Garden and Ballet Shoes! It would be a travesty to come to London and not spend time in Covent Garden. We wandered through the marketplace, looking at everything from beautiful flowers to quirky street performers and I picked up some of the most gorgeous silk ribbon to match my tutu! There were such brilliant shops full of sparkly jewels and vintage trinkets to decorate your hair. Covent Garden always has me in such a joyful, girly mood. There is a magic to that place. And naturally, the best bit was discovering the amazing dance shop in a side alley. Ballet shoes and tutus and everything my ballet heart could desire. I went home with two pairs of new shoes for my dance classes! You're looking at a ballerina who just couldnā€™t resist.

Fifth Stop: Thameside and Reflection For our final stop before catching our train back to Derbyshire, Rosie and I booked ourselves a small, lovely restaurant right on the river Thames. The lights of London looked absolutely incredible as we watched boats glide past on the water, the wind carrying the scent of the river - it was so tranquil and a wonderful way to end the day.

Thoughts about Pink! The great thing about London? Everywhere I went, it was filled with inspiring ideas and pastel pink tones. London feels so much like a storybook with its incredible architecture and cobbled streets. If I didn't live so far, I'd move here in a heartbeat! And the inspiration? Donā€™t even get me started. I took so many photos that I have already got enough inspiration for a dozen new tutu designs for www.pink-tutu.com I'm even thinking of creating a collection called "Pink Tutu London," so be on the lookout for that!

I Hope Youā€™re Enjoying this Little Trip to London!

I can't wait for my next trip back to London to find new inspiration and maybe some more pink shoes to add to my collection. I try to make London trips part of my monthly routine, as it is the only place where I can really lose myself in the pink! I hope I've shared enough fun moments of this lovely trip with you! It really does inspire me to wear a pink tutu everywhere, anytime. It feels amazing to show off some extra sparkle.

What did I tell you? The pink tutu life really does make every day a dream! Youā€™re probably wondering how I can fund all this ballet and travel? It's pretty simple! I do ballet performances, both solo and with troupes, to fund all these trips to London! Itā€™s not always easy, and I often do some odd jobs to save for a pink dress here or a ballet shoe there, but my pink-tutu dreams are what keep me going!

I truly love every single thing Iā€™ve written in this blog, from the gorgeous pink colours to the beautiful dancers to those enchanting cobbles of London. That's my life, and itā€™s truly beautiful to be a ballet dancer living in a tutu in a wonderful world of colour. London is definitely a magical place - so magical that it deserves a pink tutu to add some fun!

Remember - we are all special! And thereā€™s no better way to express that than wearing a fabulous pink tutu!

Until next time, my lovely readers!

XOXO Emma
