Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 656 – A Tutu-ful Friday in the Big Smoke!

Helloooo my darling tutu-twirling lovelies!

It's Friday, and you know what that means? Time for another Pink Tutu Blog London post! This week I've been twirling my way around the capital, taking in all the sights and sounds, and of course, indulging in a little retail therapy.

Now, you might think a pink tutu-loving ballerina wouldn't be able to resist a little London ballet experience, and you'd be absolutely right! This weekend I'm off to see the Royal Ballet perform "The Sleeping Beauty." I simply cannot wait! The music, the costumes, the magical storytelling – it's all just divine. But before the curtain goes up, I thought I'd take you all on a little tour of my Friday adventures.

A Train Ride and a Tutu Twirl

So, early this morning, I bid farewell to the rolling hills and quaint villages of Derbyshire and hopped aboard the train to London. Now, I must confess, there's nothing quite like the feeling of watching the countryside fly past your window, a steaming mug of tea in hand, and a pink tutu billowing gently around your legs. It's a ballet of its own!

The journey into London was as magical as always. Seeing the cityscape gradually unfold before you is quite breathtaking. All those majestic buildings, cobbled streets, and bustling crowds…it really is the most exciting place in the world!

First Stop: Covent Garden

After a quick stop for a delicious scone and clotted cream (a little English indulgence never hurt anyone!), I found myself in the heart of Covent Garden. This place is just brimming with life, from the lively street performers to the trendy boutiques and charming cafes. The atmosphere is just electric!

You know how much I love shopping, and Covent Garden didn't disappoint. There were so many gorgeous little independent shops selling everything from vintage dresses and handmade jewellery to exquisite floral arrangements and handcrafted homewares. It's just the kind of place that makes my inner shopper go wild!

And speaking of going wild, I couldn't resist picking up a few special treats for my tutu collection! You can never have too many tutus, darling, it's simply a fact of life! One shop had the most stunning, feathered tutu in a soft pastel pink. I just had to have it! It'll be perfect for twirling my way through the springtime sunshine!

Lunchtime with a View

For lunch, I found a cute little bistro overlooking Trafalgar Square. The setting was simply divine. As I sipped my iced latte and savored my smoked salmon sandwich (it's the classic English afternoon delight, you know!), I watched the world go by – pigeons pecking at crumbs, tourists snapping photos, and everyone seemingly in a great mood.

The air was filled with music, chatter, and the rumble of the buses. It was the kind of experience you could only have in London, a symphony of sounds and sights, unique and completely unforgettable.

Tea Time with Tradition

Later that afternoon, I treated myself to a traditional English afternoon tea. The quintessential English afternoon ritual! Now, there's just something incredibly comforting about having tea in a classic setting. I found a little tearoom nestled in a quiet alleyway just off Piccadilly, and enjoyed an array of delicate sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and a pot of steaming Earl Grey tea.

But of course, a ballerina’s afternoon tea simply couldn’t be complete without a tutu-themed cake. Fortunately, this lovely tearoom had just what I needed: a pink tutu-shaped cake adorned with edible glitter and delicate swirls of white chocolate icing. A masterpiece, really! It was absolutely delicious!

Street Performance Inspiration

After a perfectly pleasant tea, I wandered down to Leicester Square, drawn in by the cacophony of street performers. London's street performance scene is really something else, with everything from acrobats and fire-eaters to singers and dancers. I love the energy, the spontaneity, and the creativity on display. It's truly inspirational.

I even caught a glimpse of a group of dancers performing an intricate ballet piece. Their grace and precision were mesmerising. It was almost as though they were transporting the world around them to their own magical stage. Seeing those ballerinas gave me a huge dose of inspiration, a reminder of how truly magical and powerful ballet can be!

The Perfect London Evening

And finally, after a whirlwind day, the time has come to prepare for the Royal Ballet performance. I have a date with "The Sleeping Beauty" and I simply can't wait.

Now, before I head off to the theatre, I wanted to share with you my little London tip of the day: the best way to see this beautiful city is on foot. Wander through its historic streets, discover hidden alleyways, and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere. You'll be amazed by what you find, darling!

Oh, and don't forget to bring a tutu! Every city needs a little sparkle and a lot of twirling fun, don't you think?

So, until next week my darling tutu-loving lovelies! Keep dancing, keep dreaming, and remember, you are a work of art!

Lots of love,

Emma x
